Welcome to the Big leagues! North Wing!!

This is a North Wing drop ... All items with hast in NW are no less then 35% hast and up!

Simple you need 40+ in tune killers to get the job done in North Wing... So if you got Drems of this you better be working on your AC / Resist / HP gear and get in a good guild.. Only the Big boys will ever see the drops and only a few will ever get them

all ntov / tov haste items are 41%.

And you can do alot in ntov with 24 skilled lvl 60's... Things that would give trouble with 24 would be Zem, Vynmm, Krenizan, and a few others, but most the dragons ain't that tuff >_<

This thing is Killer, I would give up my COF for this item in a instant just to sell off the COF and get a cloak with better stats. Wt shouldnt mean anything to you at the this level. Also it has 25 stones but gives 15str that is a 10wt stone belt and heavy as that is, i would live with it.

Just have to comment a few posts...
'You guys have all these fancy friggin haste formulas, look just use mine. Lets say you're using a 40% haste belt. Your weapon dly is 30, so you type this in a calculator: .4(40% haste) times 30(the dly) then subtract that number from the original dly. Bam there you go'

This is wrong. 40% haste on a 30 del weapon will give you 30/1.40 = 21 del, not 30-0.4*30 = 18 del. Note that the unit of measurement of del and haste is not the same, haste is the inverse of delay.

Next comment:
'Can you have up to over 100% haste? will that amke your weapons 0dly almost???? Like a FBSS this belt and there is a lot more too is it possible to have 100%??????????'

It is possible to have >100% haste, 100% haste means you hit twice as fast. So 30 del would be 15 del with 100% haste, 200% haste would give 10 delay. Again, haste is calculated 100 * del/(100 + haste in %)

One more thing worth to keep in mind is that haste items + spell haste are accumulative, which is easy to implement in a computer game but physically makes no sense at all. In Verants mind 50% item haste and 50% spell haste will give you 100% haste, instead of 125% haste.

Very good post this one, short, informative and to the point. Not like some others here. One other thing to keep in mind is that there is sort of a haste cap =) Since only one item haste and one spell haste stack you can never get above that cumulative haste (note that I'm not saying anything about the delay here). Say Speed of the Shissar (think that's 66%) and a 50% belt. 100 divided by 216 (100 + 50 + 66) is approx 0.463. With the above example of a 30 delay weapon that makes a delay of 30*0.463=13.89 Haven't been able to ascertain if a bard haste stacks with this btw, but I guess that will come with lvls.

3 types of haste: permanent, spell, song; all 3 stack with eachother, none stack with others of the same type.

You're mostly right, but this needs a little clarification.

There is item haste, spell haste, and song haste, but most bard songs count as spell haste. Because most bard songs are spell haste, they don't stack with other spell haste. For example, Shissar (60%) + Vilias's Chorus of Celerity (45%) does not equal 105% haste because Vilias's Chorus of Celerity counts as spell haste. It equals 60% haste because that is the highest haste value. You can get both icons, but only the higher haste applies.

Before 61, bards have 4 songs that have the ability to stack with spell haste: Melody of Ervaj (5%), Battlecry of the Vah Shir (~15%), Warsong of the Vah Shir (25%), and Composition of Ervaj (10%).

I believe you can stack one Ervaj with one Warsong (categorizing Battle Cry as a Warsong), as they were basically coded to stack with every other type of haste.

The major advantage of the Warsongs is that they have the ability to raise your haste over the "haste cap". So, if you had 40% item haste, 60% spell haste (say Shissar), you could add another 25% with Warsong of the Vah Shir which would take you to 125% which is 10% higher than the 115% haste cap at level 60.

Typically, in a raid, I'm given a group of melees (+ healer), and am asked to sing an attack song (McVaxius' Rousing Rondo: ATK 14, STR 20, Damage Shield 8, Brass), Warsong of the Vah Shir, and Cantana of Replenishment (Mana Song). Most of the melee are going to have high item haste already, the enchanters pass around the VoG, and I'm there to push them over the cap.

The damage output in one of these groups is phenomenal. Even if you don't have your epic, as you'll notice that 2 of the songs are brass, if you get a Troubadourís Mace (from Plane of Justice), you can sing the brass songs to good efficiency and melee yourself.

Hope this helps!

No, Haste caps at 90%...and you can't stack item haste, as stated before. If you had, say, a CoF and this or an FBSS, the higher haste item would override, and the lower would be dead weight (unless it's this...which has the other stats).

Wow...here is the way it works. Item, Spell, Song...not to exceed 60%. MEANING..you can stack one item (FBSS) one spell (Alacricity) and a bard song all together....but they will NOT exceed 60% haste. Thats right 60%. Look at any of the official boards. It is common knowledge. Although...would be nice to have a Wurmslayer going at 25 damage and 4 delay. Yeah right....like Verant would let that happen

Your completely right. Even with all my "heavy" gear i sit barely over 100wt. Add all the junk in my bags and im at about 130. You cant help the fact that the majority of the tank items that have good ac will also have great str bonuses. I have 192 and i wasnt event trying for it. The haste is nice, but i went with the haste cloak so no point on taking it for anything besides the rather tasty ac value.

Weight? Who cares?

Everyone has to hear it sometime, its not a part of the core "rules" to EQ. Haste items, which go by a dizzying number of names, increase the speed at which you attack. They do not, I am told, increase the speed at which you run (I play a Druid, so I wouldn't know personally, Haste items are in the "Oh. That's nice. Give it to the tank." category for me.) The "classic" haste item is the FBSS-- the Flowing Black Silk Sash, dropped off of the Frenzied Ghouls in Lower Guk. The haste is expressed as a percentage, which is how much faster it makes your attacks, I believe.

Exactly two sorts of haste effects are cumulative: permanentt item-based effects (like this one or the FBSS. Basically, while you are wearing the belt, you are faster,) and spell or spell-like effects (like the Enchanter Haste line, or a haste "proc" like the Mithril Two Handed sword.) Multiples of the same kind (like, say, the Mithril 2 hander and an Enchanter spell) do not stack, but you can stack this with the Mithril 2 hander or a spell.
RE: Haste???
# May 10 2001 at 1:38 PM Rating: Default
Had to clarify a couple thing in the above posts about haste. First off, there are actually 3 different types of hastes that will stack together. Item haste (Fbss, CoF, Mith 2-hander) will stack with spell/proc haste (celerity, alacrity, augmentation) and both of those will stack with bard song haste (Anthem de Arms, et al).

Secondly, the way haste is calculated is actually this formula. 100/(100 + % of haste) so an item with 40% haste wouler actually be 100/140 multiplied by the weapon's delay. So the 100% haste the other person referred to would be 50% as he stated, but the 30% would not be 15% but rather about 23%. And the highest total haste you can have is 90% which would bring a 20 delay item down to 11.1 delay.

Hope that clears everything up. By the way, I played this game for well over a year before I found out exactly how the figure haste out, so don't feel bad.

Take care and good hunting.

Yup, this give you faster attacks.

If this is a 40% haste, that means if you were using a 10/30 weapon, it would behave like a 10/18 weapon. At least I think thats how it works.

If it's a percentage off of the delay (like I think it is), then the higher the delay, the more haste will help you.
RE: Haste???
# May 10 2001 at 10:25 AM Rating: Default
Actually, I believe that you have the concept correct, but the numbers wrong. A 40% haste doesn't cut the delay number by 40%. It's an easy mistake to make, but what that would mean then is that a theoretical 100% haste item would give you a delay of zero. Actually, a 100% haste item would cut your delay in half (giving you a 100% increase in the number of swings). So a 30 delay would become a 15 delay with 100% haste. And therefore a 30 delay with 40% haste would become a 24 delay.

Easy mistake to make, especially since Verant has never been very forthcoming about haste.
RE: Haste???
# May 22 2001 at 11:23 PM Rating: Default
Verant put a cap on haste percent. It was either 60% or 80%. Because they did this, it is impossible to have a haste of 100%, so the first guys haste theory is probably correct, as it would not make any sense for them to cap your haste formula.
RE: Haste???

Just so nobody is confused about this poster just above me.. The Mith 2h is a Perm haste.. which will not stack with any other perm haste items..
A good example of a Proc Haste is that of the EXE AXE.. which I believe procs at 30..
the Mith 2h has haste usable by a level 1 simply because it is not a proc.
Also Mith 2h will stack with any spell derived hastes.. such as shaman.. or enchanter haste lines of spells.
Now I am not saying this guy is an idiot.. cuz he explained it quite well.. Just used a bad example of a sword... :P

im a lvl 40 human sk with a str of 178 and i have an fbss so this weight is no problem for me. With this instead of fbss my str will be 190, and I usually only have about 120-130lbs on me, so this is almost no problem as I'll be up into the 150 range with this onand still 40lbs to spare. BTW this is a beautiful item :) If i had this, my int would be at 139 with my noc blade, not bad for a human
well..?

Anyone got the haste percent? I'd think it must be pretty good coming out of Temple of Veeshan.

# May 09 2001 at 5:36 PM Rating: Decent
By the time you are able to get this.. you will most likely have at least 4 tinker bag type bags.. and then the rest in EE bag type.. aka weight reducers.. so the only weight you will most likely be carrying is armor weight.
which makes this NOT quite soo bad.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 09 2001 at 7:45 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is EFFECT haste, so you have to wear it, which includes it in your armor weight, making your point compeletely irrelevent. :P

I see what you are trying to say, but you are wrong. He is saying that any other gear you have on you (not worn) will be nominal at best. Of course this would be included in your WORN weight. Also, if you really wanna be silly, you could keep this in a bag until you absolutely need it. /shrug It is pretty heavy, but it's still a nice piece of armor.

And, don't forget - a Shadowknight that would be high enough level to get this had BETTER have enough strength to deal with the weight, or else they're doing something wrong.

# May 09 2001 at 4:15 PM Rating: Default
Actually, the weight on this is not too bad. The thing about weight is that if you add strength, you add the ability to carry stuff. So really, instead of 25wt, its only 13wt, as it adds 12str. (Thats 25wt-12str=13wt)
