The AC loss wont affect you too much prcticing but you would not want to use for serious battle

Sure, the negative ac would hurt a ranger, if he was soloing, but in a well balanced group (which every 50+ player, not only ranger, should be in), a ranger would kick some major **** with this. This is also much easier to attain then most Epics.

There's no way a Ranger would use this =) AC is king for Rangers... low AC + innately low hp = insta-death.

There is no way I would pick up a -25 AC item, I don't care how much damage or what the ratio for it is. As a Ranger, I have insanely low HP for a tank. Doesn't matter how much damage you do with a weapon if you don't live long enough to land the shot. Taking a hit like that would be like walking out to a fight without my armored shirt (yeah, that is the kind of hit it gives, only more if you are using anything short of Thorny!). Now, if a Warrior with the high HP's they get isn't gonna do that, what makes you think a Ranger (who is EXTREMELY dependent on AC in a fight just to survive) is gonna pick it up?
OK, maybe I don't classify as an M1 Tank, but I'm like a Bradley FV... as long as I shoot and move, the Enemy is gonna hurt like blazes. I know that I am not there to absorb the damage, but because of my ability to dual wield and cast (not to mention the class' best weapons are uber fast) the beasties are gonna try and take at least a couple of serious swings at me. AC means that those swings are either not gonna land or at least gonna get softened.
Since the Ranger is a Melee class, AC is king over weapon damage, especially when you have to melee MoB's with big guns (swords, claws, whatever). Anything that subtracts 25 base from my armor rating means that those hits are going to land more often after I attract attention AND hurt more, too. Higher AC means I will live long enough for the main M1 to bring his guns to bear on the MoB and distract him off me (I hope!).
There are times when I will HAVE to deliberately call attention to myself (ie: mob on a caster) because I taunt alot more effectively then a warrior does when you consider that I cast, have fast weapons and taunt into the equation. Those are the times I have to have max AC to live long enough to AGAIN have the warrior save my butt.
In other words, YES, the warriors are THE BOMB. No questions asked. But Rangers have to do a similar job and -25 AC (base) is like painting a bullseye on them and shouting "KILL ME!". So this item doesn't even qualify as mediocre for Rangers.

err im playing an iksar warrior they cant wear plate either but u cant say he isnt a tank. sorry to get picky. Ohh but i do agree rangers are not tanx by any means although at lower lvls they are a poor replacement if ur struggling to find a full grp. they do make good pullers tho >8)
