NOT claws of veeshan. Faction hits for killing it is -GuardiansOfVeeshan, -ClawsOfVeeshan, +Kromzek (I think, don't remember if it gave any + or not). No one has figured out a good way to raise Guardians of Veeshan, so the mobs on this faction remain KOS to all. These are dragonkind in the north section of Temple of Veeshan, presumably put there to guard the Plane of Mischief.
I am a level 60 enchanter, I have 702 selfbuffed AC, which is low compaired to all the AC enchanter I know. 750 AC fully buffed. I notice being hit and hit for a lot less than I was before a few equipment upgrades.
I couldnt agree more, the change from mid 500's to mid 700's was about 2-3 melee hits per heal cast.. if you cant figure out how much damage this totals then you should stop trolling the ToV items and go back to blacburrow [that was to all the newbies posting, not you] ))
Are you guys serious? this item destroys anything else you can put in your offhand for pure caster. It has all the things highlevel people go for: High AC, +hp, +mana, +resists. It's godly
Sorry can't off the top of my head recall ANY item that is secondary with +15 resist accross the board... Considering the fact that most raids at higher levels require 125+ resist min in usually two categories.... Well, were I to have this shield its HIGHLY unlikely that I would swap it out for a +25 dr item. Post 50 the game becomes ALL about resistances (raid situations). Any guild that were to obtain this item and send it down to a twink needs a change of leadership IMHO.
>>>This item don't have much use except on major raid like vox or naggy raid...
Any person killing the mob that drops this probably hasn't seen Vox or Nagafen in close to a year. This item is simply the best secondary slot caster item in game, bar none.
You are so wrong it is amazing. A friend with crappy equipment on his human wizard is at 200 int. Most casters going to ToV are going to have some major items. An Erudite for example with 3-5 items can hit 200 int and then you need AC, Reists, mana and HP.
If I played a caster, this item would be the bomb at post 50 game. Every thing I could ever want, with my only concern being how does it look.
Also... To answer some of the posts lower down joking about the casters tanking... I don't think it is as much a matter of the casters tanking. With a defense cap of only 145 the extra AC can only help reduce your hits on those occasions when it's unavoidable.
Enchanters when a mez breaks, Wizards if a nuke happens to aggro the mob or they are evac'ing, Magicians if a nuke aggro's the mob, Necromancers when getting beat on trying to get that feign death off for example...
AC can help keep you from getting hit and mean the difference between needing a rez, finishing the mob safely, or even getting that evac off to save your party.
while this is a very good item, and the more ac you give casters the better imo.
ac doesn't keep you from getting hit.
dodge, parry, riposte, block, your level and possibly agility/dex keep you from getting hit.
Whilst AC helps reduce the amount of damage you take when you do get hit. Modified i'm sure by the skill and level of both attacker and defender.
try parsing 2 fights, one naked, one equipped with the same char on the same level of mob each time. You'll see. (try to get your unequipped agi/dex equal to your equipped agi dex though)
Okay.. the problem here is that if a mob attacks you, and becuz of your AC he hits for 0 damage, it is registered as a miss... so then people will look at that and see that with high AC the mob misses you much more often.. an ACTUAL miss depends on your defensive rating and any other defensive skills... like the previous poster said.. many many factors are at play here... and the fact that you can't really tell the difference between a hit for 0 and an actual miss kinda skews the data... but hey.. more AC means less death = GOOD FOR ANYONE...
Um... Vox or Naggy? Although it might happen the zone that this drops in is an area I doubt an extremely large number of pre-53's will even be. The item is no drop and I would think that any raiding guild that would award this to a lower level caster that happened to be here would be because the higher level people already had better or this item already. I doubt very seriously any class other than a wizard will even be able to hit many of the mobs (the ones that I have seen there at least resisted me quite often even at level 55.) in this zone. It's a bit unnerving to enter a zone and hit the track button only to see red's come up.
Now... With that said? Resists own. So we have this item with Superb resists and good AC to boot? Yes there are better Int items for this slot out there but it is easy to hit 200 int without even using your secondary slot. This item hits on some good areas too: +AC +HP +MANA +RESISTS WTF are you thinking? /boggle
/em apologizes for going in a ranting direction but seriously...
very interestin shield, hehewouldn't suggest standin behind chanter tho :P
very very nice resists. went on nag raid a while ago , resists are insanely important. only people who died were the ones who we had to call up durin raid (short on rezzers, nukers, etc...) who hadn't had time to get equip. except of course when nag turned around and started quadding them 256 per, ehhe.
I hear ya on that one; my chanter's only 12, but yesterday in CB she took on the trainer with no mana and no pet; a 12 monk said I was the best tank we had :)
OK, well nuff bragging, point is chanters are the ONLY pure caster tanks worth mentioning :)
