Um..this is a great item for monks..yes there are better ones (icicle, fungi, mortality, and ice burrower), but each comes off VERY high level mobs, all but one of those are nodrop (and the not nodrop one cost 40k+), and they are almost always rare drops. OK so this one's hard to get also but I still like it, at least until I could get icicle or Ice burrower
The quest armor for it drops in the Halls of Testing in Temple of Veeshan. Ice Burrowers are essentially trash outside, though the armor off them is extremely rare. Fungi is a joke to get by comparison.
Not sure how this figures in with high LvL characters. I noticed that just a +2Agi item boosted my AC "natural" in addition to the AC from the item, wouldn't the overall gain to AC from this item be higher considering that it gives you +18 then you get more from your now higher AGI? Like I said, I do not know how much effect that has for higher lvl characters, just a thought.
When I think of a tank I think of a warrior. I don't think a monk is to "Tank" mobs that hit for 250+. What a monk is for is a strong offensive attack.. a damage dealer also thats the same thing a rogue is for. But sure you knew that. Also if you going to complain about low ac items then tell verant you want you natural high ac nerfed and ask for higher ac items instead.
The important part of pulling planar mobs is resists and FD, and a Fungi Tunic 8). AC is only a bonus...
Also, about the above AGI concerns, I'm pretty sure AGI only affects your AC until about 100 or 105 or so, but I'll check that with my monk twink.
Also, monks are not hardcore tanks. Think about a tank in real life; big, slow, hits HARD, VERY armored (in metal mind you), and draws a lot of fire from the enemy. Now, lets look at a monk; small, quick, not as hard hitting as say an SK or warrior for sure, DEFINITELY not as armored (in most cases anyways), and therefore it would follow that you wouldn't want to draw much fire from the enemy. Let your warrior keep aggro and you just keep Jackie Chan'ing that **** to death while his armor and HP absorb the damage.
Monks hit harder than Warriors and especially more than Sks. A better anaology would have been Warrior as a Tank, and Monk as towed Artillery. A monk cant take the hits, but it sure hits hard.

I mean how many ppl do you know that can hit so fast that there is only a approxamately a .5 second delay between sets of attacks? and they hit atleast 4 times in a set of attacks, and then thats NOT including the flying kick that can do 200 dmg!
Does that really say 18ac? A monk is a TANK, dont think anyone will do this quest considering there are tunics that have way better ac than that, although if you want the stats (which are sweet I must say), then do the quest.
Its Skysrhine, I'm sure the Kael Chest has better AC but worse stats. And 18AC is still pretty sweet for a monk. The highest AC Ive seen on any monk chest piece is only 25. All of the new monk chests seem to have invigorate which is nice, it makes the choice come down to personal preference, whether you prefer stats from skyshrine or ac from Kael, instead of which has the better effect.
