lots of reasons, just think, for every heal paladins gte, SK gets a nuke for either 1/2 that much or same, Sks get a nice nuke once per day, aka Harmtouch, but they are a main Player Vs Mob advantage, which means Resists, i was just thinkin tho, Paladins are a sure thing hit, Lay Hands, average 2600 pt heal at 55, harmtouh for SK is about 2/5 that amount, and is resistable, same with nukes, all resistable sept maybe a lifetap, which is still possible, just saying, offence is just as important as defence, leaing the scale even, but having a resist possible throws it off ballence, in Paladins favor. and yes, i am classist, but just giving my 2cp
Not sure if I'm right here, but imagine a 49th Pali with all his spells, in PvP. Using this weapon, Instrument of Nife and Divine Might procs, against a Necro pet(summoned and undead, right?). Of course the necro's dots would suck still, but it'd be fun to watch all those procs going off.
Why would you fight the pet in PvP? Root em and kill the caster if you're a pally. Stuns are good for this although pally's never get a fast kill. It takes weeks to kill a pally too.
If you wanna make up for the missing dismiss undead proc. Just go to shadowhaven pick up instrument of nife. lock load and cast....Now you have a very very fast 1hs'er that procs dismiss undead. This will be the next weapon I will obtain, and you can bet on it that everytime theres undead around, this is the weapon i will use.)
IoN is not Dismiss Undead (162 pt DD). The proc of this spell actually does 243 pt DD to undead (imagine getting a double attack/double proc/double proc from GhoulBane (which does proc Dismiss Undead)?)
Can you imagine if this was all melee/ALL? You can duel wield. It would be unbalancing if you could wield some of our 1handers. Imagine a ranger with a Massive Dragonclaw Shard (28/30) and a Darkmetal Falchion (27/29). Course you'd have to bring a rez stick with you at all times, but for those 4 or 5 seconds you'd do so much damage.
Ya! Lets forget this is Paladin P.O.A-Test of Love! Lets give this to the Gnome Warriors ;p
...O common. This makes up for us being mocked about how much we suck, it might be only on Ralloz Zek this happens, but it STILL happens. And...yer a monk. Why ya getting jealous about a paladin weapon anywho?
Check up 2hd Blunt. Choose Class: Monk. Than see what weapons you get ;p kthx.

this is a sweet sword for a pally it is a hard hitter 1h slash and good deley and with 15wis you get more mana and you can use a shield with it so you have more ac. so why do you bother with sitting there saying that it just don't make any sence well put it this why he is a warrior/cleric right warrior's have to hit hard and cleric's have's Dismiss Summoned. pally's just can't cast it and if you whonna still ****** about it think about some thing else some warrior armor cast's stuff and wep's to and warrior's don't cast so THAT JUST DON'T MAKE ANY SENCE.
I doubt if paladins would become the class of choice. If they made paladins dual wield then they would have to make shadow knights dual wield. The shadow knights are already becoming a top choice to twink or play, and with dual wield that would increase their popularity.
Vanidor Darkwind Shadow Knight of the 21st lvl E'ci server
Come on don't start this argument again, verant didn't make one better than the other, after all the buffing/debuffing, LoH and HT's your left with 2 evenly matched chrs and how well they can play thier class. Oh and of course well each is equiped.
Since Jaw factored in Luclin spells in the bit about Pally Vs SK, let me factor in the PALLY Luclin spells. OK. One, the Pally WON'T get feared. They get a line of fast casting spell interrupt spells. They automatically interrupt ANY spell being cast by the target. Two.The Slows/Lifetaps/Debuffs/Dispels will never get a chance to take effect, thanks to the line of spell interrupt spells. Three. Pally outmelees the SK because even without LoH, Pallys are tougher because of buffs. (I know Pallys are tougher than SK's because I met a SK 3 levels above me who only had 9 more HP than me. No I'm not twinked :) ) Four. Dead SK, kinda maybe injured Pally is the result. Five. Who cares about the SK's pet? It is far weaker than the SK, and disappears when he dies. And with anti undead nukes, that pet is toast if the Pally even looks at it. :)
Pallys outdamaging SK's? Bah, i don't see that. Both have the same double attack and weapon skill caps, and SK's have better weapons available at lower level...and high end weapons are high end weapons. Factor in the dots and i think SK's have a bit of an edge...
Theres also another spell interuption besides stuns, called bash, and its instant as soon as i hit the button...
Reguardless, if you're on Bristlebane come duel me and i'll smoke your ***.
All that stunning is assuming they arent resisted. Of course if you feel like loading all FIVE stuns available when you are my level, go ahead and give it a shot. After casting the longer cast, more mana stuns, get the short/low mana stuns off and keep doing those until the others refresh. Anyone dueling someone that can cast by spells or items should have MR up or they are just plain stupid. I have only dualed a rogue in my guild, and I wasnt set up really for PvP when I did. I also didnt use the spells I did happen to have on hand as I should since this was my first time dueling. I didnt think. I did get feared I assume from a proc he had once. I was nice and didnt LOH, otherwise he would have lost. Duel and learn....
yeah i have to agree, i could care less if it was -15 wis 20 26 is the BEST 1hs in the game, couple it up with that new shield inny or cazic drops (forget which) and thats a 20 26 wpn, with a 45 ac field and an ***load of stats
Burning wood is full of undead and summoned the wasps there are summoned there are skels and undead gorillas too. That is indeed a nice weapon the wisdom alone makes it woth it because at higher lvls you get alot of cool spells and wis equals a little more mana ect....

I'd definately use it...look at the weight...3.0, ghoulbane is 9.0...big difference, and this has +15 wis, where GB doesn't have any + to stats...and I would aggree on the proc being just gravy. I'm currently using my ghoulbane in FM. Not a single undead MOB in that zone (unfortunately, as it IS nice to see an extra 140 points of DD every once in a while) :)

Posted:Apr 07 2001 at 1:31 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) LOL this and GhoulBane would be one hell of a combo for duel wielding. Paladins would become the class of choice no doubt
With the advent of LDoN this sword's value has gone up tremendously.
In Tak (N.Ro Adventures) the dungeion is almost entirely summoned beasties and since the Cleric Group Temprance spell is sold in this camp this is a very popular place to be. Probably one of the most popular LDoN adventures in the game.
Now just to figure out this quest and find those items.
Yea, so? They don't want Paladins using 20 / 26 weapons with Dismiss Undead. I bet the BEST undead spell they'd put on a paladin 20/26 weapon is Ward Undead.
Exactly, a weapon that's really damn useful in only a few zones, (ie, the Hole) is much more likely to be put in the game (less unbalancing) than something that procs Dismiss Undead...
Actually, what high level zones have summoned/undead? Summoned: The Hole
Undead: Chararsis any else? How much stuff in Dragon Necropolis counts as undead?
Who cares what the proc is when the dmg ratio is that good? So it only procs against summoned...darn, one of best dmg/dly ratios for a 1hs in the game, but it only procs summoned. Commence the whining.
Why is it that when someone comments about specific pieces of equipment being either underpowered, too hard to get, or just plain don’t make sense he/she gets branded a complainer. I think it’s a valid point that a Paladin, who is supposed to be a Fighter-Cleric Hybrid should get equipment that, reflects this role. Sure there are places where Dismiss summoned would come in handy. The Hole is a good example, but there are more Undead mobs in the game than summoned ones. Don’t believe me, just check out the bestiary for each zone, and add the numbers up. Not just that, Since Paladins have spells that help with undead mobs, Paladins will more likely want to fight in area’s that have undead mobs. This sword certainly has an awesome Damage Delay ratio. Don’t get me wrong. I would never turn this awesome weapon down, so I’m not whining. All I was trying to say is it just doesn’t make sense as a “Paladin specific” weapon. Being that it is a Paladin spacific wepon it should have a proc that makes sence for a Paladin. As it is though, it should be usable by all melee classes. Besides Paladins get fewer quests in this zone than all other classes, and two of these quests are for swords. It just dosn't make sense.
One of the other swords from the PoA quests does indeed proc Dismiss Undead, though that one only got posted recently (Truvinan, a 2h Slash, the result of the Test of Compassion.) I think, then, the intent is to give Paladins a choice of weapons to go for, ie, if you want Dismiss Undead do the Test of Compassion, if you want Dismiss Summoned, do the test of love. Frankly, I think that rocks. Not only are they pretty spiffy (if hard to come by) weapons, but they also vary nicely in what they're the "bane" of.
