I wanted to set this down on paper. It seems the prudent thing to do, for when my discovery becomes known many less reputable crafters will
attempt to claim it as theirs.

I have discovered a new metal. I have named it Palladium, after a close friend. It is a bright, clean, white metal. In its current form, it has streaks of rainbow coloration throughout caused by impurities bound to the base ore in the samples I discovered. I do not know if these

impurities can be removed. In fact, I am not sure I want them removed. They seem to cause no instability in the metal, they may strengthen it. The color added by these impurities is wonderful ands makes the metal much more attractive and interesting than silver.

As far as I can tell, this metal will never be strong enough for armor, but it is strong enough for jewelry. I have been able to make several pieces using some of my standard designs, such as a topaz earring, a turquoise ring, and a black pearl necklace.

For now, I shall keep the origin of the new ore secret, but once discovered by others it will quickly be converted to metal, as it requires nothing more than a gnomish heat source to convert the ore. This can be done in a jewelers kit. So you can see why I wanted to make my discovery known right away.
