I myself am a warrior i love AC of course its good when you have a bunch of sikly casters cowering behing you. but i leav the defending my body part to my armor and my scale wich do a pretty effective job of it and use my ear, finger and often neck slot for pure stat. May this only works on an iksar cause we got 1AC per level bonus but i think that a good suit of armor can do all the job and leave room for a dex and/or str and/or agi ring, necklace or earing
Currently a level 51 rogue and I want one Dex and Str is far more important to a rogue than AC. We are the only class that has a SKILL to activly lower agro AC means nothing unless you are tanking. If you are not getting hit why do you need to defend against it?
As a rogue.. the lack of AC does not seem important.. .This is a NICE earring, not everyone expects to be tanking all the time... and if you are not a tank... the str and dex can really add up (just ask any rogue)I would say "***** AC This thing Rocks". Seems like something alot of classes could benefit from when not being the tank.
"the str and dex can really add up (just ask any rogue)"
If you ask this rogue, str and dex does NOT add up. Sure they are nice to have, but this is about it.
All good log parses show that the effect of stats on your damage output is minimal at best.
If you play the game in a way that you never face any actual danger, dont worry about your defensive skills, but if you wanty to be able to take a few hits, and save the day when your party is in trouble, you really should worry about your AC.
Even if EQ does not reward taking risks, beating the crap out of static spawns in a well broken room, doesnt quite do it for me in the long run.
59 rogue here and yes str and dex are major for a rogue. BUT!!!!! ac also helps you NOT TO GET HIT or get hit with less DMG and u will get hit from time to time no way to avoid all of it and we do not have the hp to take some of the hits from higher lv mobs . look for gear that has str and dex and ac! sometimes peps we get agro and i have killed many a mob in a spot where the mt has got killed mob goes for rogue next because of dps better to have 10 hp and mob have 0 with mob out dammageing you ( in most cases ) will need the ac to keep you alive long enough to kill him. str dex only low lv good when mobs will hit for 600 need ac. cleric camped tanks dead only ones left rogue and monk in the end we kill mob monk dead not enough ac rogue loots and does corpse run for others . by the way blue diamonds look good on me
I agree! AC is WAY overrated... I look for it as a tertiary stat ONLY. I've played a warrior to lvl 54 and a rogue to 40. AC makes a HUGE difference on the warrior... A warriors sole purpose is to take hits, so more AC, less damage taken, better for healers. On the other hand playing my rogue, all along, everyone tells me AC is #1, STR is #2. Not true. I am using a Trak Tooth and Locustlure. (10/20 and 8/17 respectively). I also have a haste sash. When I turn on the My Misses chat filter, I can see that I am still missing my target 60% of the time... sure, when I hit, I hit and backstab hard, cause of High STR, but I would much rather hit for 35, 35, 35, 35, 35, 35, 35, then 45, 45, 45, miss miss miss miss. AC isn't that important, cause if a Rogue is being hit, the rogue, and the warrior aren't doing there jobs. It's very hard for a twinked rogue to fight in a group of their own level. There is NO way for a tank to keep mobs off of them. For that reason, I tend to group with people 5-6 levels above me. I get the same experience, and the group suffers less exp loss because they are adding a lower level player. As soon as I've done an estimated 300 dmg, I hit evade, when it refreshes, I do it again. This works very well, and keeps the mobs off of me at all times. 90% of the fights I am in, I don't get hit at all, so AC doesn't mean jack. DEX is #1, STR #2, AC and AGI # 3 (STA doesn't playinto it unless you are maybe using a spear type weapon, the low weight of a dagger incurs very little STA loss during a long fight.)
