Confirmed usable from inventory (tested on a level 4 halfling warrior) as of 27 February 2006. Must target self or other. Target needs to have item to be identified ON CURSOR.
Stats match the picture submitted by The Tarsis Shriners above, with the addition of a type7 augment slot.

Just got another one of these. The first one I decided to put on my bazbot and list it at 2500 pp just to see what happened. Lo and behold (I always wanted to say that) it sold at that price within 24 hours. Gonna put this one up for 4000 and see if it sells, if so, can go camp the monkey men for another. For the price, this is one of the easiest items to get. Harmony and pull one of the two mobs that drop it and Viola! Does not always drop, but what else does? I probably should keep this to myself, but what fun is that?

I have verified that there is no level limit on these. My bazaar bot is a level 1 Warrior and he was able to use it with no problem.
Confusion may arise however, for the following reasons: Person with beads must put them in a regular inventory SLOT (cannot use from within a bag); Person targetted must be HOLDING the item; and, Message showing the Lore will go to the person holding the ITEM, not the person casting the Identify.
Given this, and comparing to silvery mask which has a level limit of 25, this seems to be a pretty nice item. Those of you hunting shards for VT key will appreciate it for sure, and I have had many occasions to use my silvery mask. This is definitely an upgrade and will stay in my shared inventory slot in the bank to be used by all my toons.

BTW If I was to sell it, I would price it at around 2500 pp, but that's just my opionion. Not sure if anyone would be interested at that price but who knows?

This effect is clickable from inventory as of 11/8/03. So... yes, your ranger could use the effect.
I, too, would like to know the price. Whatever it is, I'm sure that my Ranger would save up for it. Of course, it's lore, so that might help...

How hard is this feller? He soloable? Does he summon? How much does he cast for? etc etc etc

Not only can he cast Wiz spells, but he can hit in melee in the 120s.

You could wear this on an big raid where every little resist helps, I guess. Since you need to be in melee range to hit a lot of these big guys with spells, the +4 sv fire +4 sv cold and +6 sv magic will help (a tiny bit) in a Vox or Naggy raid.
Considering what you need to go through to get this though, it's not worth the time.

well, still easier to get than a NoS, or even an imbued ivory collar for shamans. So indeed might be useful.. I'll keep my NoS hehe.
I would take just as long to dig this out of your inventory as it would to dig the spell out of your spellbook

Now all we mages need is an item to proc Eye of Zomm and we will be all powerful.
we do have an item that (right clicks) eye of zomm. clay bracelet, i think... temple of ro quest. relatively easy to do, infact, i did it cause it was pretty easy and the reward might be fun.

I've camped the Grand Vizier quite often. He's an uncommon spawn in the center of the Holgesh cave in Wakening Lands. He or an Elder Holgesh can spawn there. This item is his rare drop. Do not attempt to pull him out of the cave to kill him, as the pathing is quite buggy, and he will end up going underground but still be able to melee/cast on you. You can pull him out if you are very careful, and keep him in your line of sight all the time. However, this is difficult, as he is a wizard and loves to cast. He's about level 45 and is surrounded by level 35-40 Holgesh. A high level person can clear the 2 nearest the tunnel and then single pull him out.

I spent some time here last night just messing around. He doesn't seem to be much of an uncommon spawn. Just keep the room clear and he'll pop. I probably wasn't there more than 2 hours and he showed up twice.

I think all you guys who post crap about these items are retarded. Everytime a new item is found, and it doesn't have godly-uber powers, you ***** and complain it isn't good enough. Not every item was put in the game for +10 to every stat and resist, they are other purposes for items and weapons. Get over it.

Actually maybe you should think for a second. This necklace can be used by any class, even pure tanks, from the inventory, so that they don't have to rely on you stupid casters to identify stuff for them, which makes it a pretty useful item.

I am pretty sure this item is like kuniark armor : you can use the effect only if the item is equipped. It's the case for the other drops of the holgresh, by the way (another necklace with a low lvl necro spell, and mag/wiz wands with DDs).
So it's completely useless, unless used in some quest.

nope.. you can use it from inventory... go get one if you don't believe me.. but it is a fun item... :) I got a necklace off an elder that casts eye of zomm. It is pretty cool cause I am a cleric who can't get that spell. May be useless. But then again, what is the point of alcohol or fireworks etc... yet some of those items are the most fun in the game.. :) maybe don't always look at stats... the game was meant to have fun, not to see who can get the highest numbers
