These gloves are cheap, most people sell them for like 30 to 50
as i've been hunting these orcs with my bard at lvl 35, ry'gorr armor has comparable stats to lambent. looks as if they're about equal, so if you don't feel like doing lambent quests, this stuff is nice if you wanna hunt orcs.
i traded my darkmail gauntlets for these, i think it was an even trade since i am a warrior and i don't even need the +50 mana that the gaunts gave me, but all the stats on these helped me out a lot

got a pair for 20pp elf lady sold to me. neither of us new how much they cost. good deal im 18 rngr and i think they are great at my level.

you can get better items cheaper nowadays. i play a bard and druid. my bard got his lambent guants which are 12 ac +5DEX and +1CHA. I'd take the 5 dex over the 2 str any day. same AC and CHA, and you can get them for 400-500pp on rodcet nife. other class-specific items are better (i.e. crafted, etc.)
Of course there are better gloves out there when you are a plate wearing class.
Note the class list, this is a chain type piece of armor, so you need to compare this to the rng/rog/shm class armor or armor types like truesilver.

or compare it for iksar warrior who can't wear plate =) pretty good armor to wear for us iksar. is sure beats me quest armor.

these are NOT better than the iksar quest trooper scale armor. trooper scale are 11ac, 5str, and 2dex... i would sacrefice 1ac, and 1cha and 5hp for 3str. we iksar need every bit of str we can get our scaly hands on!

those are pretty good fo rogues since we need more str/dex and hp gear. only reason i wear these is because they look better than the iksar scaled.

Another good choice if you're lucky enough are gaunts of the black ( ac 15 str 4 wis 3 ), all plate classes, all races ( so an Iksar SK could wear them )... heck, your probably camping the fort anyway for the ry'gorr armor, and the black drop in the same location... so you may luck into a pair.

Yes,.... But, Firbrand sometimes seems very reluctant to spawn. I was in a guild gruop camping the fort, and we got almost a full set of Ry'Gorr armor (no mail, since that drops off chief), and killed the blacksmith every time he popped. Not one firbrand, and I was hoping to get a dark ember :(
Gauntlets of the black are very nice, but they are rare, compared to Ry'Gorr gloves, and much more expensive to buy.

I have these they are nice and go for about 400pp on the povar server.
