this was by far, the most enjoyable quest i've even done, beats soulfire, ghoulbane and 1.0.....you get to redeem a lost paladin, and if you do it at a lower level, makes a good paladin explore old world zones that are too often ignored...didnt have skin like rock when i first quested, and it was before the days of a damage bonus, but the feeling of success when you finish this quest is beyond describable
hmmm

I wouldn't bother with this quest. I am all for doing quests for the fun of it, and I did. I did soulfire for my paladin and it was alot more fun then the things you have to do for this item. And Soulfire is unique sword and has better stats then this item. Plus if you ever decide to do it Soulfire is a needed item for paladin epic.

Im thinking of doing the Ghoulbane quest next for him.

Anymore you can get a Axe of the Iron Back for about 15pp, or a runic carver for around 20pp. A good overall value on a paladin weapon is the Arbitrators Great Sword (not sure on spelling). ITs 30 damage 43 delay 15 wisdom 25 mana. I have seen them less then 1k.

Not always does the rewards of a quest justify the means, and often it doesn't. Even for Soulfire, it doesn't necessarily justify the means.

But why do we do it? It's the process that matters. The fun of solving problems, the reward of being able to complete something.

The measure of a knight is not entirely in how much he can cut through with his blade.

This is EverQUEST, not EverLOOT, its all about doing the big and the small quest, thats what makes it fun. not just hunt and level and buy good weps

Check out the deepwater harpoon, It is 18/40 2hs adds 5 wis and 5 sta, and the quest is pretty simple.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 26 2002 at 8:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) what a ****** weapon for a 5 quest, just go save yourself some time get 100pp and get a BaBs
this sounds fun
# May 21 2002 at 1:09 PM Rating: Decent
i think that this quest would be worth doing just for the level of intrigue involved in doing it. Even though the weapon is not the greatest, maybe on day someone will find the cleric an find out what the rest of the quest is

Aye, I would have to agree! I am rather enjoying questing all that a Paladin should quest. My goal is to perform every single thing that our Gods of commanded and wished I should do. A paladin lives for honor and justice. (altho, I do partake ina bit of vanity as many a pala does with cooridinating armor heh).
86 days 23 hours played and still lvl 52 but ally with most Good factioned clerics and paladin guildmasters. Now to work on the Deepwater Knights. /salute

That's the one thing that I really can't stand about this game. There are too many people who are after the best stats, the best armor, the best weapons-- all without caring about the game itself. This is a MMRPG, emphasis on role-playing game. I don't know how many people I've come across who don't even know what role playing is. It's a shame too. There's a lot more depth and enjoyment you can get out of the game if you're not always looking for the best. Play the game for what it is, not what you want it to be.

How do you know those people that do that isnt playing the game the way they like to play? Who made you judge, jury, and executioner?
Everyone has their own way of playing this game as well as you and I.

I don't want to be all negative, but for the amount of work involved, you think you would get something better than the Shiny Brass Haliberd. (drops every 2 hours in highhold and is promptly destroyed or given to a pet)
Re-Magnetic Partisan?!?
# Jun 21 2001 at 10:56 AM Rating: Decent
I heard from another site that there might be an upgrade for the HPOU. When you turn in the cloak of underfoot to get your HPOU, he tells you that "it still has a few charges left but that the cleric that can recharge it was 'lost' in the lava filled lands of Narrath." To me, 'lost' doesn't mean dead, but that you have to find him, probably in either lavastorm or Sol A/B. If anyone is reading this and has any other info, please please please respond. Rumors are a dime a dozen and people get a kick out of making stuff up to drive others crazy, but the supposed outcome of it is the Re-Magnetic Partisan. Here is a quote from another site that got me all stirred up, posted on 2/19/01:

"There is a 2nd part of this quest. It has not been implemented yet. The paladin he speaks of in LS will spawn near the druid ring and wander towards Najena, slaying anything in his path. He will ask for lvl 40ish items and the Holy Partisan. Rumor has it he hands back a 29/43 2hs with +5 all stats and resists, with the proc of Holy Might. Called Re-magnetic Partisan."

One discrepancy of this statement is that according to the NPC that gives you the HPOU, it is not a paladin but rather a cleric that has been lost. Not a big discrepancy IMHO.

OK gang, go out there and find out the truth....

Good Hunting!!!
eh?

Hey, if you're gonna play a pally, you should do it for the right reasons, not just because they've got good abilities (I group as much as possible with my druid...) They story is interesting, and it feels like a REAL RPG when you do one of these quests with your friends. The weapon's not BAD, it's just not all that good either. Verant would get BIG boosts to people doing this quest if the sword added to AC, and had a graphic for being on the back... Maybe someone should let verant know about that little idea...

BTW, to get faction to help on this quest, get bone chips, of all things, and hand them in at the pally guild at the far back of kaladim. Send out a shout, and unload some stuff on a newbie to help you find it if you can't.

Can't find bone chips? Find the chessboard. 5 spawn points of all undead. King is the baddest, 15-18 wizzy, but he's not too tough to a 15+ pally with bash. Good luck, and Good Hunting!

Which Faction
# Mar 28 2001 at 9:07 PM Rating: Default
The dwarf that starts this entire quest, Dru Razbine, seems to claim he is part of the "Clerics of Underfoot" or even the "Paladins of Underfoot / Miners Guild 249" factions. However, having done the Ro Armor quests my faction with those 2 are Kindly. My problem is that Dru cons Apprehensive (to a human paladin) and as such, won't hand over the container to begin the quest.

I did create a dwarf paladin to see if that would change anything and, yes, it definitely worked with a dwarf paladin.

What faction is Dru Razbine on? I can't start the quest on my human paladin until I find out.

turn in CB belts and lego pads and kill the gobs running around BB mounts and so some newbie quests helped my wood elf warrior who believes in rallos zek(biggest mistake in world cept now I can hang with ogres and giants)

Started quest with good enough faction to get container from Dru ( but got rid of it since was only 2 slots and figured I get it after I got all the items and had the Chalice and Candlestick) but when I went back to get the container I found myself to be apprehensively to Dru and now have wasted all the time to acquire the items.
If anyone can figure out what faction Dru Razbine is on and how to raise it? Please post here thanks.
Back Slot item
# Feb 24 2001 at 3:41 PM Rating: Decent
Since they are now putting the slots on item descriptions in the game, I discovered this item can also be used in the back slot.
not worth it...
# Feb 19 2001 at 1:08 PM Rating: Default
this weapon is not worth the time you spend trying to get it, there are other better weapons you can buy, maybe camp for less....not worth it at all =(
RE: not worth it...
# Mar 06 2001 at 2:19 AM Rating: Good
I think the quest is worth it just for the story involved.
RE: not worth it...
# Mar 22 2001 at 12:35 PM Rating: Default
The reason to do this is that you need it, along with the Soulfire, Ghoulbane, and Fiery Avenger in order to do the Fiery Defender quest. The Fiery Defender is 2h slashing 35 damage 40 delay, AC 15, +20 str, +10 sta, +15 wis, +70 HP, +30 man +10 sv vs fire, cold, disease, poison, magic, Effect: Holy Shock.
RE: not worth it...
# Aug 16 2001 at 10:13 PM Rating: Default
your so stupid man. the ghoulbane and the soulfire are for the firery avenger and that alone with other items is used for the firery defender. personaly if you don't like the weapon than don't do it but like a lot of people said its a great story, A.K.A a REAL RPG quest.
Part of separate quest?
# Jan 24 2001 at 2:13 AM Rating: Decent
Just curious if anybody knows if this weapon may be part of a separate quest? Maybe one that yeilds a weapon with better stats? Well, as always I will continue to work on my paladin, even if it means wasting a few hours on a dumb quest. However, Verant needs to start thinking of changing the name to EverKill, as all the quests seem to becoming useless compared to the weapons and armor you get off of killing mobs. Just my two copper pieces.
RE: Part of separate quest?
# Feb 08 2001 at 3:50 PM Rating: Default
As the quest discription stated there is a cleric in Lavastorm...unles that cleric is found and given the weapon we will not know the true nature of this weapon
RE: Part of separate quest?
# Apr 03 2001 at 4:00 PM Rating: Default
Correction it said the cleric fell into the lava in Lavastorm did it not? If I am mistaken mayhap we are looking for a named ghost or something to that effect? I personally am a 41 level wizard who has been helping her pally husband I have leved and searched all over that zone to no avail, Maybe they mean this cleric is within Sol A or Sol B or maybe even within Solusek temple?
RE: Part of separate quest?
# Sep 27 2002 at 12:03 PM Rating: Decent
I have seen a NPC Cleric just inside the Najena zone line from PC several times. Is this possibly the one you're looking for?
RE: Part of separate quest?
# Jan 24 2002 at 1:58 AM Rating: Decent
Heres a suggestion, that, if I ever get high enough to do, will try myself (for other reasons than just this).

There has been unknown mobs spotted in the bottom of various lava pits in Lavastorm, Sol A, and Sol B. Possibly there is a ghost (as you suggested), skeleton, or such inside one of the lava pits.

I wanna travel to the bottom of one of the lava pits myself just to see what is down there, but my highest is a 20 warrior, so I don't have the HP to stay down there long enough.
worth it????
# Dec 19 2000 at 11:10 PM Rating: Default
Seems to me that for the difficulty of this quest, the weapon is terrible. I sure hope that this leads to a better item (I would guess by turning it into this cleric in Lavastorm) otherwise why do it? Stats are terrible....you can easily buy a weapon with better stats for less than 400pp.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 29 2001 at 8:10 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Your a moron, there are many weapons better. Most noteably Axe of the Iron Black...16 37...umm hello. Ive see the Axe go MANY times on luclin for 50pp. Use some common sense before you answer a question.

Out of curiosity, who exactly are you disagreeing with? I just don't understand all the hostility when everyone on this thread seems to be of the same opinion.

"Use some common sense before you answer a question."

Sound familiar?

#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 12 2001 at 11:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ok you idiot. perhaps hes on a differnt server ? i cant believe you'd call some guy an idiot for being 50pp off on a price. i bet you've probaly seen it go many times for 100pp too ? your a moron and i hate people like you

axe of iron back sells for less then 100 and has better stats. Still gonna do the quest just to add to my collection of useless holy weapons though.

Didn't you hear the fiery defender post this is for an epic you use it with 3 other pally weapons to get the fiery defender. Oh and so you know this doesn't really resemble an epic where are the battles with plane Mobs and 55+ Mobs that resist everything?
