Dropped for me tonight off Grachnist the Destroyer (so as it always was known to be..).

This is the "junk" good drop from him, so you have a great chance of getting them if they are what you actually want.

On progression servers where the goblins are being farmed heavily, these are rotting. They are super common --so no reason to spend big $ on them in commonlands or baz (if your server is that far).

Very affordable gloves
# Jul 07 2002 at 5:25 PM Rating: Decent
These gloves may not be the best, but for the price they are some of the best you can find. Personally I haven't bought them, but in the Rallos Zek auctions, you can commonly see them go for around 50pp. These gloves drop EVERY time off the named goblin in the warsliks woods- I'm not sure what his level is but thats easy to look up, I'm sure hes an easy kill if you are 30ish. So, while you are saving up for those silver chitin hand wraps or crystal chitin gauntlets, allow me to recommend these as an affordable, dispensible temporary.

A couple years ago, I was making a MINT off of these gloves. High level PCs were camping grach for the earring or whatever, and since these were lore I could loot them at my leisure. Then I'd port out to EC and sell them for a couple hundred pp. Made some nice cash doing that back in the day when these were brandy new.
As far as grach goes, he's actually pretty tough. And his fort is full of potential adds. Every gob in the fort is a PH for him, and I've seen more than 1 grach at a time on track.

C'mon sure they are great for everyone else but what about us monks with our ac penalty i mean verant could at least make them 1.5 or even 2.0 but that will NEVER happen... imho i dont think monks get as much recognition for their hard work like other classes do :( oh well i guess that is the way of the world no one pays attention to us atop those himalayan mountains lol.

Yep... unless you're a caster or a monk these are the way to go over the gem inlaid gauntlets.

For monks? or not for monks?
# Feb 14 2002 at 4:04 PM Rating: Default
I see this as a great pair of gloves for everyone who can wear them EXEPT monks. For one, they are a bit heavy for monks, being it can decress AC by, what? 40? Thats not made up by DMG output. Even though the 3+ dex hits more, unless your group has a rouge and a warrior tank, you probably dont want these (unless you wanna twink a monk)

Barbarian Rogues can wear now? Hoody-freakin-hoo ! ^_^

Mesa gonna go farm a pair fer me rogue now ... and ditch those Ry'gorr. Sure, he'll be missing out on +2 AC, but the additional STR and DEX will help.

Sure... they change them to ALL Races AFTER I sell them! Would've been a good upgrade for my Barbarian Rogue, but nooooo...
Beastlord's Too
# Dec 16 2001 at 12:46 PM Rating: Default
There is a mistake in the listings. This can also be worn by Vah Shir Beastlords. I know my young Beastlord Cat "Tumbi" is wearing them. I had trouble selling them and my Barbarians could not wear em. They are great for her current level.
AC vs Dex (and str)
# Nov 14 2001 at 5:09 PM Rating: Default
A good question you should ask yourself is, when in a group with other tanks, in general, am I the guy getting hit more than anyone else? That is, are the targets generally taunting on you more than the other tanks. If yes, than you are probably doing more damage than the other tanks, and subsequently you should probably concentrate on more AC. If the answer is no, than you could probably benefit more from anything that would increase your damage output. Of course this is just a rule of thumb, and the situation does change when you are soloing.
this is how i see it
# Nov 14 2001 at 10:34 AM Rating: Default
the more damage you deal, and the faster you do so, the quicker the kill and the less you have to worry about AC. granted, no matter how much haste, dex, and str you have, you're going to get hit if you melee at all. now the question is, which has a more noticeable effect in combat: 2 less ac, or 3 more dex?

I would expect that 3 DEX would give ZERO noticeable effect whatsoever, EVEN IF you had 2 proc weapons going. I have heard people complain that Boon of the Garou (the Enchanter spell, grants Werewolf form and +100 DEX) hardly affects their proc rate at all.

Never experienced it myself - just reporting observations that I have heard.

those observations you heard are extremely bogus
i notice a considerable difference in proc rate when i get a dex buff
+100 would scream at you, the change of rate would definitely be noticable
but +3 ... no probably not going to notice
Iksar Scaled vs. Ry'gorr
# Jun 16 2001 at 2:42 PM Rating: Decent
These gloves are nice, and much better and more cost efficient when compared to the Ry'gorr Chain gloves, which are more expensive and give less strength and only 2 more ac (not to mention the dex stats this gives). I'd highly recommend this over Ry'gorr.
RE: Iksar Scaled vs. Ry'gorr
# Jul 30 2001 at 7:47 PM Rating: Decent
AC is king, rygorr is ALOT better than this
RE: Iksar Scaled vs. Ry'gorr
# May 08 2003 at 7:37 AM Rating: Excellent
AC is "NOT" king..........HP are king

RE: Iksar Scaled vs. Ry'gorr
# Sep 09 2001 at 7:59 PM Rating: Decent
Aye Ac is nice, but stats have their place. One one hand I think about all the rangers, rogues and bards out there. They tend to use a lot of procing weapons (dex), and are typically not the main tank of the group. 5 dex versus 2 ac, more damage for thicker skin. Both points are valid, but I opt for the risk of dealing more damage.
RE: Iksar Scaled vs. Ry'gorr
# Jan 18 2002 at 5:39 PM Rating: Decent
Ac is secondary to rogues, you want as much STR you can get for that damage. Dex helps as well for procs, although its not extremely noticeable.

Grahcnist
# May 26 2001 at 9:03 PM Rating: Decent
He does Have a lot of HP, but watch out for other goblins healing him. This happened when I was helping a guild mate get a pair of the gloves
Gloves
# May 23 2001 at 3:45 AM Rating: Decent
I went there with my druid friend (L34 ranger and druid) and we did fine... most goblins are green. Grachnid was on track almost immediately when we entered. I tracked him down and defeated him (he's tough tho, don't try to solo!)

I needed another pair for a guild mate, so I started camping the goblin ruins and killing gobies, half an hour later he spawned again and he dropped the gloves both times.

Check out my story on it here:
http://pub65.ezboard.com/fepicheroes73161frm1

Safe way to do this:
Enter zone from OT.
Go southwest untill you see the path.
Follow the path and go left at intersection.
you'll pass some ruins with iksar, continue.
Now you come to 2nd ruins with gobies.
I camped to the left of the path and kep killing gobbies till Grachnid spawned.

Bah, he's way easy. I came in with my 35 druid and he just happened to be there. Didn't even know who he was, but he was blue so I pulled him. Snare him, get him away from the others so they can't heal him, then root him. Drones and Immo then med. Repeat as necessary. He stayed rooted quite well, never even got a hit on me. Only dropped the gloves...
dark or light?
# May 14 2001 at 4:15 AM Rating: Decent
This is a question for people that play on tallon zek. i want to camp these but i was just wondering about warsililks woods. Is this zone mostly a darkie or lighty zone?
RE: dark or light?
# Jul 16 2001 at 5:15 AM Rating: Decent
Well i know on Vallon Zek it's an entirely darkie zone.
RE: dark or light?
# Jan 31 2002 at 11:50 AM Rating: Decent
On Tallon it is also a darkie zone, with the rare light twinkie raider.

wait, y r these worth LESS than gem inlaid gaunts? they have more AC and str, and the same dex. only difference is the 3 less sta, but most melee want str more than sta. maybe its just me
RE: wuh
# May 16 2001 at 5:45 PM Rating: Decent
But if you are not a monk and can use these, DEFINTELY get these instead Gem Inlaid Gauntlets. The +3 Str will let you carry more, netting only a 1.0 weight. Plus the Str will help you with your damage output.

Bottom line: same net weight, more Str, more AC, much cheaper, but less Sta.

Actually, the +3str won't let you carry more, because this weighs 4. Your carrying capacity actually goes down by one with this. If you're replacing gloves that weigh 1.0, these have no net change on your carrying capacity.

I'd agree with you that these are better than gem inlaid gauntlets, if weight isn't an issue. But if you're a monk, or a class that can't use these, gem inlaid gauntlets are much better.

The reason that these are cheaper than gem inlaid, despite the fact that it has more AC, is mainly for two reasons:
1. Gem inlaid gauntlets can be used by all classes, all races. Since more people can wear them, there's a bigger demand.

2. These drop off a single mob, and it's his common drop. Gem inlaid gauntlets are the result of a quest that requires 4 different frops off of mobs. That means these are a lot easier to get, and more common.

So basic economics: lower supply, higher demand, means that gem inlaid sells for more than these do.
RE: wuh
# Apr 25 2001 at 3:36 AM Rating: Decent
The difference is the weight, and who can use them. Monks, casters and all large races, will still want gem inlaid gauntlets, so juts because these are cheap and easy to get, it does not really drive down the price of gem inlaid gauntlets.
Bad boy
# Apr 19 2001 at 3:47 AM Rating: Default
Found this guy the other nite.
Was helping a very low level Iksar monk get his corpse back and log in my high level Sk(witch I took all of his gear..minus the no drop stuff and started up a iksar sk). So thier I was at 42..equpt with a Sarnak Berzerk whip 5/27,a Marine shield 8 +10 vs magic,Cougar skin mask 6 2 dex 2 agil 10 hps, shin greeves and shin gauntlets..ageast Grachnist.

It was a tuff fight thats for sure. He can hit in the 90s. Of course that might have been because my AC was only like 580 or so. I must say for a blue he does have a **** load of hps. I layed into him with harm touch (441 dmg)..throw Boil blood, engulfing darkness,Heart flutter..recasted Engulfing darkness.(was keping him feared since I know I didn't have the weapons or armor to take him Toe to Toe). Was looking realy bad..he was getting close to dead and he beat me down to 2 bubbles of health, when I broke him moral and he ran for it..well walked since darkness.

To bad..he only had his gloves.

I've heard the goblin was hard to kill, but I had no problem as a 35 Mage. The hard part was finding the bugger.
RE: Grachnist
# Jan 27 2001 at 9:04 AM Rating: Default
He does have alot of hps for level my 37 druid ran out of mana and it took me about 10 mins to club him to death. Actualy saw one blue to me at 44 so levels vary. Price is about right at 160p, lots around. Nice twink item, heavy for some.
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 06 2000 at 11:50 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) why does the picture say weight 4? and not the description on top?
