I may be completely wrong... but I think must equip means that you have to equip them to be able to right click them. Once you're buffed you can just take them off again.
Level 45 is the min level. Note when this came out level 45 and this effect were very "high level" gear. It is most often sought after pre SOE spell these days, and is happily sought after by the save the bat faction.
Just wasted 1k on these for Dru, and was horribly disapointed. Guy told me they did in fact not use a bat wing. Wish I would have checked this place first.
As not to just sound like a ranter, no they do not work outside of inventory. At least they didn't for me.
Quick question: Will these boots be able to be triggered outside of my inventory? Like in a bag or something? I think i heard that this was true but i just want to confirm. Thanks everyone!
I have these boots and I have to say, I never wear them. I wear ES leggings and if worn with these boots, it looks so awful. Too much dark green removes any distinction. So I continue to wear my eBoots to add some color to my ES armor attire. I hardly use levitation anyways.
I keep a set of gear that I use for hunting/grouping/raiding, and another set that I wear when I'm doing anything else. The battle gear looks awful. The Everyday Wear looks spiffy. No one said that how we look is the most important thing, but it can be a factor.
Lots of people goes after look.. (including me) if it makes u feel sick and lousy running around in some ol' crappy looking set.. then looks is important
There is an upgrade to the druid spell Levitate that came out with luclin... it is Levitation that requires no batwing and uses 60mana to cast. it is a lvl 51 spell i believe....
It would make sense, and totally contradict the post below from Verant representative, to make these boots, only usable by a lvl 45 druid mind you, use the same spell that requires no bat wing. other wise.. doubt many will keep cept for dressing up for special occasions.
There is also an Enduring breath spell at lvl 51 that requires no fish scales...
I have yet to get these but they are on my 'want' list.
Looted a pair this weekend and it uses bat wings. Not trading my GEBs for these. Maybe if you have no wings, it might still go off, but if you have wings, they definately get used.
You definately have to have batwings to make these work. I'm not sure I would have bought them if I had known that aheaed of time, but I got them for 350 plat so I figured why not? Saves a spell slot at the very least.
The ES Booties drop off of Mortiferious Protector (a named Golem) in HS. In the same room, the zone boss, Drusella Sathir (necro), also spawns - along with her guards. We did the room using one group consisting of: one SK (puller), one warrior (chain puller), one ranger, one chanter, one cleric, and one druid. The ranger and the cleric were the lowest levels in the group at 54. (No - we didn't have a rogue). The key to our success was the pullers who broght single to the group. The boots seem to be common - got 2 pair back-to-back.
Were the booties worth the effort? Other than looks, probably not. If batwings were not needed to use the effect, then I would say "yes", till then...

These are kinda nice to have. Just have in open inventory slot so you can swap the gebs and click. It frees up another spell slot. Other than that no biggie. I like to have 8 10 slotters on me, but now I must make sacrifices.
The not sufficient lvl indicates that at 19 you cant proc the effect..which will remain the case untill your wife hits 45 most likley as thats the lvl for all the ES gear i know.
As for requiring a wing, OMG what a waist of time..at lvl 45 the mana to cast levitate is insignificant..same as the crap snare on the ES guantlets.
Saves spell slots though, bub. It's much easier to do a quick switch of boots, click, then switch back than to swap out spells, especially with the customizable UI that you didn't have back then.
The boots are found in the east wing of Howling Stones. The mob is called a Mortiferious Protector. He's in the room with Drusella Sathir (who drops the NoS and is on like an 8 hour timer). Pretty nasty mob who hits in the 160 range. We take the room with a group of 6...usually 55+. I think the last time we went only the cleric was under 55. The ench was 55 and the rest of us 57+.
well i was given a pair of these ( i'm a ranger) so i gave them to my wife who is a lvl 19 druid she clicked on it and got the message " you are not of sufficient level" any idea ??
They mwntioned in the recent patches about possibly changing the ES boots so you do not need batwings to use them, however it hasnt been done yet. It is a right clickable effect of levitate that requires the use of batwings. (with the low mana cost of levitate anyway why even bother with these except for the status?)
From the information i have gathered, the ES boots drop in the east wing of Charsis(howling stones). Found it kinda lame that in order to use the levitate effect, u still require batwings.
