Was running to North Karana for some EQ errands and killed a Tesch Mas Gnoll near the zoneline to North Karana and it also dropped Split Paw.

Anyone have any information on the quest that uses this item?
A Globe of Fireflies (which this summons) is the nodrop item used to spawn Venril Sathir from Venril Sethir's Remains in KC, for the druid and ranger epics.
Using this item, ANYONE can spawn Venril Sethir. Assuming your faction is sufficent, you could then multi-quest the stone he drops, and a druid or ranger need never be present for the kill.

I found that it also works in tunnels, so it also probably works anywhere that it is dark.
Its true that its not worth much, but hey, it doesnt weigh anything at all, so you can use it to fill up any extra slots when getting to that weight where you wish you could move ;-)

Castable only at night.
Would be nicer if it was soulbound - would make your erudite or human CR much easier at night :-p

I found they aren't even worth hanging onto. You don't get much for selling them. So I usually destroy them and loot something worth more, that I can sell. Just my opinion wether you like it or not. :o)

How do you make it work? DOES have 5 charges but I'll be darned if I can figure out how to trigger it.

put it in a main inventory slot (not in a bag) and right click to trigger the effect

low level druid spell.. If im right it summons a lightstone for you

In effect, yes, they are lightstones, but they are not useable in quests or recipies as such. Not very useful item at the level you get it at IMHO. Very common in Paw or at the venders in the surrounding area if you really need to get your hands on one.
