I killed about 20-25 sabretooth tigers in Overthere with no mane.
I went to Ill Omen and got it on the very first tiger kill. Anecdotal evidence, for sure, so take it with a grain of salt, but that was my experience. So I would recommend anyone hunting for this drop to go to Ill Omen rather than OT.

I killed a sabertooth grimalkin and got a sabertooth tiger hide, not mane. I didn't notice this discrepancy until I did the turnin. Lost everything but the hide which was handed back. Please don't put yourself through the torture of making the same horrible mistake.

Definitely better off going to lake of ill omen. I tried trakanon's teeth and no drops plus mobs all over the zone went to lake of ill omen and all mobs in one area and dropped after the third kill.

Would not drop in Trak's teeth after zone was cleared of tigers or Overthere

I got one my first kill in Lake of Ill Omen, Between the Firona Vie Zone Line and the Windmill, in the ruins area east of Veksar.
