Well when I see this bow all I see are the stats, HP and Mana, resists and poss the 30attk if you havent maxed yet. But strip the stats off and you pretty much have a stonewood bow. So my arguement is of course....crafted item being equiv to PoT drop in the dmg/dly area. I believe this bow should be 36/48 and Ill tell ya why. First thing is rangers in grps can use bow non stop, rangers in raids or some dungeons we are limited. Secondly finding our `angle or LOS` is not easy to high to low and we cannot shoot. So when you see those 1k crits you prob think we can shoot anywhere at anytime, no in a way we are like rogues we need a good LOS Line of Sight to be effective. Lastly for our bread and butter weapon it doesnt compare to other classes prim end game weapon. Yes we can crit blast and crit heal but im talkin weapons here. When someone tells me your dps is awesome im gonna make a ranger, I tell em if they want a well rounded toon make a monk cause in the end game monks with 10k HP, max defense, and the 2hb weapons from time and GoD they are the masters of melle hands down. If you have settled for Ill never be in Time or Ill never be uber this doesnt apply to you. =)
YOU NEW RANGERS... Dont believe this. I am currently Elem flagged and consistantly DPS near the top 10% of raid at 65 , im 66 now. Also there are a lot of raids that require ranged att. So to say that rangers arent needed on raids is plum crazy.
As too Monks being awesome I agree. But every toon has its uses.

At your current lvl plus your current content, you are in the ranger sweet spot. As you move on to GoD and OoW end game content, youre going to realize that your dps from the EP's havent changed a bit. The only dps that improves is melee.
This is where you will find a great deal of frustration when warriors and sk's are out dps'n you in groups and on raids.
the dex and str on this bow don't really interest me since any melee claiming this will be maxed or near to it. The Sta is great on it though, since as a ranger, I know it's one of the hardest stats to max on.
Obviously though stamina is the last thing on your mind when you receive this!
Actually I've been struggling to make a list of gear i want that has max AGI...sta str dex and wis are all capped. Agility (even though i am a wood elf and had put most of my starting points in agility) is way behind...Every slot i swap out for some agility...costs me too much AC for my taste. I'm nowhere near uber or the smartest player in the game about matching the best gear combos so please dont flame me if i am wrong..jsut stating what i observe...stanima seems to be rather easy to cap

Anyone that is in time, or near it, knows this is the best bow in the game at this current time. The only people stating otherwise are the ones to whom this is not tangible...at this point, all stats will be maxed or close to it for all players, at least the stats they care about. Hp/mana/ac are the true focus at this point, and of course, saves. This bow has the best ratio, and with the archery mod can score hits higher than EP bows, even though those have the arch mod too. The stats are quite nice, but aside from the obvious dmg/delay and mod, the thing that makes this bow nice is the 180hp/165,mana...for a bow, that's outstanding. Granted there are more hp items out there, ranging up to 250, but that is wonderful for any user. And as far as this bow goes, it's going to a ranger, unless all rangers around already have it...that's a given, and as far as rangers goes, there's not a whole lot of items out there that have more hp than this. Bottom line, end of story, at the current time, this is the best bow around.
This Bow does not have the best ratio, the ornate ablone is a 43/37 but with the magic dmg its a 47/37....IE better ratio. I am a 65 ranger and DPS is all i care about...but im not going to lie ofcorse i would take this bow over the ablone because of the HPs saves, and AC
Since the abalone bow doesnt drop any more, you don't really have a choice anymore(unless you got one before they took it out). So that leaves this fine bow on top.

Look up any bow in the game and you will see that this bow is the best by far. dmg to dly isnt that much dif then the elemetal bow but then trow in the stats and BOOM. A very nice bow indeed.
"If god wanted us to go to church he would have mad sundays an hour longer"(Homer Simpson)
......stonewood has the same mod. the self buff from level 58 alone is improve archery(40). all that does in increase your accuracy. +% archery increases effective skill, and therefore chance to hit and max dmg
Eagle Eye and the Archery mod are two different things.
Eagle Eye gives you a better chance of hitting the mob, The Archery mod brings our skill cap from 240 to 252, which increases the chance of landing a max hit.
Most everyones DEX when they enter PoTime will be maxed already (melee's atleast). Decent Hp's you say? Vanazir dreamers Despair has i think 210 or 230 hps and thats the most I've seen on any item. So 180 hp's on this bow is more then decent.

rofl, most of the high end rangers over on the Glade said they wouldnt use this. They're pretty sure that it'll parse out to be the same as the elemental fletched bows. Being that the fletched ones have the archery mod, and this doesnt.
Based on some slapshot parsing I've done in xp groups (not very reliable), I found Warmaster's Recurve from Tallon Zek to output more damage than my Stonewood in day to day use, when the proc is landing - this is especially true when no spell haste is available or the mob is rooted (though warmaster's proc has a tendency to break roots, something to keep in mind..)
The difference is mild - Warmaster's may be putting out ~10 more dps in normal (fully hasted, no trueshot) circumstances. At higher atk values (2000+, as when FA/Fero is available), the gap closes some. Once you hit Trueshot, the gap goes bye bye. This is because TS, ATK, and Haste do not effect proc damage. The base damage on these bows is so close that proc damage is what biases the Warmaster's, more than overcoming the marginally lower hit% resulting from Warmaster's lack of an archery skill mod.
I've yet to do any semi-valuable testing of an Obsidianwood, but suspect it is on par or slightly better than the warmasters. Ironically, the Obsidianwood will perform poorly in Fire, since the proc never lands. I've used an Obsidianwood to good effect in Water, though.
Bow of the Tempest is marginally better than stonewood for raw damage output. For Trueshot or at extremely high atk ratings, it's the highest dps bow in the game. Outside of those circumstances, Warmaster's and Obsidianwood likely edge it out very very slightly.
Of course, at this point in the game, Ranger melee damage output is exceeding ranged damage output when not using trueshot... So rangers are gearing up with 1h dps in mind, relegating the bow to those extremely rare encounters we use Trueshot. Stats are becoming more important than general purpose ranged damage output. For this, Bow of the Tempest is perfect. Excellent HP, solid resists, superior damage output with Trueshot, and an aura thown in, too!
I got this bow last night... And will now bank the warmaster's, obsidianwood, and stonewood I've been lugging around... If nothing else for the sheer convenience of carrying a single bow again.
I *would* like to see Bow of the Tempest get a DPS bump, to make it clearly an all-around upgrade from the elemental bows. Seems pretty sad to me that Warriors get more enthusiastic about the best bow in the game than rangers do.
I wouldn't call it crap, but it's not the DPS upgrade Rangers are looking for in Time. For a DPS upgrade, look to Timespinner, EoE, and Timeweaver.
Holy crapola, can you just say drool. I mean i've seen some good bows but my gosh that +30 DEX thats just plain unbelievable and farely decent HP to Geez I'm just awestruck at the dmg/dly ratio this thing has. If I ever make it to this zone i wonder if i'd have a shot at this bow. well sorry you had to listen to the ramblings of a desperate ranger.
