Hmm so just kinda curious . . . would this take 25 off the 60dmg from a mana stone click? Cause that would be nice.
effect on boots?
# Jun 14 2004 at 12:44 PM Rating: Decent
Do these boots still have the Faerune effect? It isn't in the screenshot.

And if so is it triggered as the description says, or is it a worn effect like the druid ele cap?

RE: effect on boots?
# Jun 17 2004 at 9:45 PM Rating: Decent
A druid in my guild got a pair last night and yes they do still have Faerune as a worn effect and spell shield +4%. Some very nice boots.
SpellShield
# Jan 27 2004 at 5:35 AM Rating: Decent
From what I have seen there are 2 types of Spell Shield. This, Spell shield +25, reduces all Spells that hit you, by 25 Damage. There is another, such as Spell Shield 2%. This of course, takes 2% off the spell damage, so for a 1k nuke, it would take off 200 Damage.

actually, for a 1k nuke, it will take off 20 damage, you were doing 20%

yes i want to know about the spell shield thing too.

...but while we're reminising.... :)
...I remember when a trip to Antonnica from Faydwer took a half hour.

...When stepping foot in LFay meant the possible silent assassination from a black horse who used to send shivers down our spines.

...When the worst words we could hear were "the Specs are loose".

ahhhhh, *hugs EQ*
spell shield??

The REAL back in the day =)

You could blow up the ships, not just wish you could drink the beer on the walls in them. That was even before MY time, even.

Ogre rangers.

Troll monks.

All before my time. I think that was actually beta. Some other BITD stuff includes wanting to kill that Tovax Vmar guy, because he was SOOO uber (in Qeynos Hills), being afraid of the Green Room in Blackburrow (might have been a server designated thing, the room with a couple of the rares). And the SSoY was definitely uber, like the people before me have said. And just think of THIS: The Gold-plated Nagitasha (or whatever) was 9 25 and dropped off the hardest guy in the game!!! Nagafen. It did have Dismiss Summoned as a proc, but that rarely worked on anything. Only item that I can think of retaining it's uberness is the CoF, which is also a naggy drop.
Back in the Day

Back in the day, Everquest consisted of three things:

1. Lots of Bronze.

2. Lots of questions about the stats on Executioner's Axe, because no one had ever seen one before.

3. Lots of time wishing that you could drink some of the liquor on the walls of the ships.

Also, you couldn't swing your Runed Totem Staff without hitting a Human Monk

Back in the day

You know about "back in the day" when: You spent days in Crushbone waiting in line behind 5 other folks trying to get a Dagger from some "bad-a$$" dark elf or the bloodstained tunic from the Tough orc there.

"Back in the Day" is when: Mr. Mistmoore made an appearance...

"Back in the Day" is when: A bronze breastplate was selling for way more than 1PP per AC...

"Back in the Day" is when: If a Griffon or Hill Giant (Not HG) showed up in EC, everyone would run and hide because you know noone within 3 zones could kill it...

"Back in the Day" is when: If you saw someone with Ghoulsbane, they were super-uber!!!

"Back in the Day" is when: Fire giants were a 3-4 group encounter, not duo-able...

"Back in the Day" is when: Lower Guk was Super F***'n Hard, not an easy camp...

"Back in the Day" is when: People would raid, um... what is the name of that underwater dungeon again... next to that totally camped undead house no-one goes to anymore...

"Back in the Day" is when: You could have two Polished Granite Tomahawk's (major kick-butt until they nerfed that... better combo than some of the weapons out now!)

And yes, SSoY was the total bomb. If you had two, you were the tank!!!

"Back in the Day" is when: a halfling druid was called a bus-boy of death, not Dr00d... and COULDN'T get that plate look!!!

THAT is back in the day!

Anyone else think that SoE is spoiling us? I mean...wasn't there a time when a Centi Shortsword was uber? I remember if you wanted to go somewhere you'd better darn wanna stay there for the longest time less you have the platinum to rake out towards your local friendly drood or wizzy. Then Luclin came and whoo boy...portals were everything! I didn't have luclin at the time, so I just sat outside the spires to watch the pretty spell it casted =D. Sheesh I wonder what's next? After PoP? A map of entire EQ and >click< boom you're in Kaladim >click< boom you're in Mistmoore, Silly SoE spoiling us to death =D

I remember slaughtering bears to get HQ pelts, to sell those, and get a full set of cured silk by the time I was lvl 7. People called me "ueber" or "twink" to have it by lvl 7. heh Lots of monks told me I was set til I could go get Shiver Back... I think that would be back in the day. Oh yeah, and no weaps til I got an Essence of Dol at lvl 25... ;)

I don't wanna mention how cheated I felt when Wu's Fighting armor came out... heh

#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 05 2003 at 9:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) LoL! Back in the day? Back in the day is, at the latest, pre Velious, and that's pushing it. To tell the truth, it is more acurate to say that back in the day was pre Kunark.

When you took the boat to Iceclad and it took you 2 hours, where were you coming from? The boat from Oasis to Iceclad takes maybe 20 minutes, 35 - 40 if you just missed the last shuttle from Oasis. The older boats took a long long time, especially when they were broken
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 05 2003 at 11:24 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It sure seemed like two hours. First you have to get to the docks. Then wait for the boat. Then you wait and wait, you zone, wait and wait. And it's not like you could go off and do something. Miss the boat, miss the docks at the end, blah. You can't even practice divinatin. My brother once got so bored he camped on the boat.

Centi SS was never uber... nor was it "back in the day material"
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 06 2003 at 4:00 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) actully centi ss was uber and costed between 500-1000pp when luclin first came out.

Erm...well if this gear is considered "spoiling" us... I'd hate to see what we'd have to go through to get it if SOE was being mean about it :P Hello... the insane amount of game time and the work you have to do to be able to even think about dreaming to get to Plane of time makes those that DO get there WELL DESERVING of these items. As for making things easier/better with each expansion, yes... that's called growth. If you don't make things bigger and better, then it dies. That's pretty much business sense. If things were always the way they were with Luclin or the Original game..how many ppl do you think would still be playing it? ... Not too many.

Just my $.02

#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 21 2003 at 7:53 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Good point but VI is expanding to fast. Theres what?5guilds in the entire game in PoT right? But already we gettinga new expansion which will be bigger and harder with 80ac 30all stats 3-resist vengance XX charms... they need to have an expansion thats not bigger or harder but more for the 40-55 level range to keep them interested, sure with PoT those top 5 guilds wont quit but the little people count too. K, thats all i gotta say.

Actually Lost Dungeons is a single group style expansion, similar to how AO does there "quest" system. You go to an NPC, he gives you a key that allows your group to get into a custom dungeon to complete a quest he gives you. You run in, complete the objective ( picking up some loot and experience on the way ) then come out and get "quest points" as a reward. Which you can then spend on nice gear.

Much more oriented toward players with little time than raid force full time players.
