Yes a rogue should be able to take a bit of a beating just like any class. But as far as the tank not out aggroing you, it's any non-tank's job to CONTROL your aggro. Trust me, just about anytime most classes will be able to get aggro away from the tank. Your job is to do as much damage WITHOUT taking aggro (or at the very least when you do, immediately use your skills to lower your aggro). The tank can only do so much to keep aggro. Rogues, rangers etc can take it away but should NOT.

Rogue as a tank

Any rogue worth his salt should be able to take a decent beating. In a group, if a tank isn't out aggroing you, that's a problem that should be addressed. Just food for thought.
Not bad for solo

Not bad in solo situations as long as you haev an escape method besides.. escape.. IE zone, the DoT will giev you aggro back the next tick after you use escape. I've used this for soloing in Acrylia, and other places. In group, I also prefer DD, far less concerns for aggro.

Ok.. I dont particularly care for DoT procs as a rogue. DoT = Aggro on damn near every Backstab, and thats somthing you dont want. Even with an SK/Pally tank, i get aggro from this proc or DoT tick on a nice dmg Double BS. I evade, and as soon as i attack again, re-aggro due to the DoT. In short,if you dont want Aggro, dont use this. Its nice for maybe... a high HP named or somthing.. Stick with DD, those are far more easier to shake off.
