Yup, it still drops; dropped last night. Interesting effect it boosted my 2HB skill from 111 to 122! Instantly! Can anyone explain, please. Thank you.

The +10% to 2hb on it will increase your skill temporarily while wearing it. 111 + 10% = 122(with rounding).

I asked for this weapon for its stats and the effect 30% add to direct damage spells. Only once have i needed the proc to generate mana against a mob that drained mana. I have also ised it in mpg trial against the mob that is vulnerable to blunt. Combined with sharman 400 proc it was not to bad. Mostly as cleric I would not swing it though. Even so its worth useing:)

why would a caster want this weapon? my casters never work on melee skills you think a lvl 65 would have their skill high enough to hit these mobs?

Perhaps a caster would want it for the stats...

Barring that...my 65 wizard has capped all of his melee skills. Not that I melee with him unless I'm particularly bored, but I do know quite a few clerics, shamans, and enchanters that will take a few swings when the opportunity presents itself. This is also useful in pvp, naturally...I once heard that the way enchanters duel each other best is to haste and buff themselves up and then go in with weapons. Strange, but then it could be a rumor. Regardless, most primary-equippable items for any class, including wis and int casters, are weapons... That does not mean that just because they are holding a weapon, that they have to melee with it. Nor does the fact that it has a combat effect proc.

And beside that, a caster trying to melee Time mobs, I imagine, would be splattered. But casters are also perfectly allowed to hit, say, green cons that aggro on them randomly with it. I'm fairly sure they wouldn't miss those too much. One can't rely on spells for everything.

And some people just like to hit things.

Close, but to even get to this point you need to have pretty insane gear to begin with. Once a caster gets up to the really massive stats/mana/mana regen/clickies, medding pretty much becomes pointless. With this, you don't need to med and can still do damage while regening mana. Look at the combat proc. High enough dex, it's faster than standard medding.

Plus you still get to damage mobs while you regen your mana.

I got it yesterday - I had looked around a bit, and noticed there isn't any really great 1-handers in the game for mages, while at the same time most of the other classes that can use this weapon get their PoTime class weapons in the handheld slots, as well as useful shields. Hence, I realized it was suitable for a mage.

I ran a 30 minute parse and had it proc on 16.5% of all swings with a dexterity of 305. With SoV, my actual delay on this weapon is 18, and I got 165 proc's in 30 minutes. This should put the mana regen from the proc's at slightly 14/tick if meleeing non-stop, a very nice addition.

Don't expect to be melee DPS with it though, with a strength of 189 and maxed melee skills I was only doing a little more than 10 DPS with it.

Actually, if you don't have the class AA mounts as a Pally/SK, you do not gain sitting mana regen while engaged in melee combat so, in outdoor situations, you would be better off just sitting on a horse. In indoor situations, it's a nice adittion.

I got mine today =) But honestly Im more looking forward to when my name shows up on one of those slowstaffs that Zek wont give up! I hate him hehe! Its a really nice staff, it procs extremely often (not that it matters much)..
Anyways, it might not be the wisest choice for the ultimate powergamer out there but I'd say its definately worth its points.
#crackers, Posted: Sep 17 2003 at 10:28 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I saw a gal today with this and I thought ahh how cute a stick with a leaf on it.. She linked it to me and about fell off my chair.. I would seriously delete my epic for that. It looked sweet too. Doesnt make much sence to even work on an epic with such nice items like that in the game. Verant needs to work on improving out wimpy epics after seeing such sweet itmes like that.. I will forever dream.

Druid epic is now one groupable. This items takes years of dedicated raiding to even see drop. Why should how nice this item is have any effect on your epic?

All epics (save the bl one) came out in the kunark erra, they have all been out dated. The only one that still holds up is the cleric epic.

The druid epic can now be solo'd. I have solo'd everything from Reavers to Faydedar. Only last thing to try is VSR. I know I cannot kill the real VS, though. His regen is insane and even with Infusion to resist the lifetaps I cannot DPS him down under 40% before he regens back up. However, I've seen a necro solo VS, so in theory a necro could get the stone to MQ.

PS-As far as the greatstaff, it's hardly worth it these days. 300 mana would be awesome if it was one-handed, but getting over 300 with the combined slots is pretty easy, not to mention the AC and other stats you'd get from wearing a shield.

I beg to differ....what item can you find that will possibly make the monk epic out dated other than elemental? guarantee you it will have to be of this caliber of item
RE: Dream wepon
# Dec 12 2003 at 2:02 AM Rating: Good
The word "but" justifies his statement, there have been major upgrades in the game that have far surpassed all the epics but the cleric one. The ornate glove pattern can be bought for cash and has same effect, similar stats as the epic. It is alot easier and less time-consuming to farm the cash for the pattern instead of gettin raids set up for some of yer pieces for epic

The Gauntlets of Enlightenment arent even in the same league as the monk epic. Monk epic has 50 hp, 1 ac, 12 str, 3 dex, 10 sta, 10 agi, 4 svcold, 7 svmagic, 4 svpoison, 10 svdisease more then the ornate monk gloves. Monk epic doesn't require any raids either.
RE: Dream wepon

first off, the monk epic effect doesn't stack with a very good spell, second most people it adds 40 atk . monk epic only takes 3 people at most to do, counting the gimp monk. but the monk epic is outdated, look at all the lvl 65 monks that raid time, they have ele or better on.

monk epic has 100hp, plz dont post if you have no clue. monk epic is elite for any monk that can get it, all im saying is that there is better and the effect isn't built for raiding situations in pop. sorry about posting about the monk epic in a post for something that isn't the monk epic =)

I doubt you will see this, was just in PoTime B checking out zek, thought id see what he dropped. If you reread the post above you, just after listing the stats he wrote for the monk epic, he said it had "that much more" than the ornate gloves, wasnt listing the actual stats for the weapon itself.

monk epic to take 3 people, would need 3 lvl 65's with half decent gear.., ornate = one lvl 55 monk with some pp.

and... if u re-read his quote, u will see the last 6 words make him right, and u in need of a reading aid).

As a latecomer to my guild, which is in time, I have two 100/100 items for prim/sec from raiding with my previous guild. I'd lose FT6 I'd have to make up elsewhere, but I would be more than happy to take this.

First...the above poster is correct. The staff is not that great for what it takes to get it. First 300 hp/300 mana is nothing compared to what you can get with a piece in both primary and secondary (over 400 from Time loot). Second, the +10% 2H blunt mod is completely laughable for the classes that can use the staff. The effect Blessing of Twilight just sucks. The focus effect is only for instant detrimental spells only. At this point casters have sooo many focus effects on gear that this means jack and ...well...you figure it out. Also stats mean nothing, heck most characters at this level would have 500+ in their main stats (if they weren't capped) and are max in every other.

But on a good note...the staff looks cool when equipped (like the staffs the Rathe Council men hold).

This staff not that hard to get, if your guild is in time. Plus RZ one of the easier tier 5 mobs. not like you have to clear for 8 hours with no loots, and kill something that wipes you 5 times. Honestly, the old risk to reward concept died long ago, when raiding started. wake up and smell the alchohol! If you don't like EQ, just quit, or stop posting, because you are obviously a miserable fool if u are complaining about this item. what do you expect? 60/30 400hp/mana 2k proc, plus 10 mana regen clicky maybe? I really dont know why so many people complaining about Time and EQ..Eq is better than ever, just been around for a long time. on any given time raid 30 uber items drop minimum, with a 4 day respawn...nothing before in eq has ever even touched that. peeps complaining about lore, who cares, its not why we play the game. It's like there are too many message boards, with bored people posting. enjoy the game or quit, but please stop whining!

The two people above were merely pointing out that at the point where you can get it, it isn't all-powerful and might. Certainly quite impressive, as is the Staff of Eternal Flames, but for the most part it won't add up to two one-handed items for people in Phase 5 of Time. (I would argue this would come awful close, just without worthwhile foci.) They weren't whining, merely stating the facts.

Cudgel of Glowing Clay + Barrier of Freezing Winds beats the stats granted by Greatstaff of Power with approximately the same effects (25% to all nukes and 35% to cold nukes) for casters.

Time's Antithesis + Barrier of Freezing Winds is probably the ultimate shaman combination and it beats out the Greatstaff of Power in regard to stats and effects.

If your guild can get the Greatstaff of Power, you can get each of those other items too. So it's not that hard to find a combination of items with >300 mana/hp on it.

I'd have to say the same bud. Look at what's available from time. Guilds in time will have better total in their primary and secondary slots, plus more effects. This staff isn't good relative to what you could/should have as a time enabled guild.
