Decisions...
# Mar 12 2003 at 3:43 PM Rating: Default
The decision about this item is easy.

Wait until you get the Hope Stone. Make sure you Identify it.

Decide whether the Secrets of the Planes is better than what you have in those slots. If the Secrets of the Planes is better, decide whether it's worth the time to complete the quest.

Then if you don't want it and it's droppable, sell it.

Meanwhile, don't waste your time speculating on all those other questions.

Your Bus is Leaving! This item is great, not uber but great. The mana and HP have been changed to 100, and the effects are Vengeance 3 and Conservation of Solusek, which are decent. The quest is fun, but long and DON'T Bother Doing This Quest, unless you have plans to kill Top Mobs in elemental planes. The Hope Stone is a Super-rare drop and many people seek it. I have been raiding Elemental planes, everyday, for 3 months now, and I have only seen 4 or so drop plus never twice on the same mob. So good luck if you plan on doing this quest to completion, and if you don't like this item, you are in the 2% of all everquest players that don better loot....Otherwise pipe down fools.

#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 09 2003 at 10:51 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Those who say you must kill fennin ro for the hope stone are wrong, unless the Hope stone is somehow tagged for the location it drops in. Just last night I was farming up Rockhoppers to make some platinum, and a hope stone dropped. No drop, lore item, etc. etc. I looted it, and asked around for a while if anyone knew what it did.

Um, no. The Hope item that drops off the 'hoppers, is, I believe a "hope diamond". Regardless, its *not* the same item as the Hope Stone from Tier IV. To get this, you do have to reach the Elemental Planes or sucker someone who has gotten there out of a MQ.

lol i still laugh when people talk about Wee Little zones.......Wasnt so little when you played there now was it LOL

Who cares if this is a cheap item or not, Just doing the quest makes it fun enough, getting the flags, killing the uber mobs and getting 733T gear and stuff, hell complete the quest, show your guild, and then destroy it if you want to.
It all in the FUN people, not the rewards!!!

Nonsence
# Mar 08 2003 at 2:30 PM Rating: Decent
I have to laugh at the terrible whining and nonsence thats going on on this post!

Don't give me this BS about RVR, first of all you are already getting rewarded for the mobs you have to kill to get the quest items for this! No one here can tell me that the Junk Beast, Rallicus, and Vhaksiz don't drop items other than the quest item for these quests. That and they do drop very good items!

Also there is crying over how many trade skills are needed to complete this. Do the damn research and stop crying!! These items are NOT no drop! In fact all three needed for the beginners manuals are found every day in the bazaar for very cheap!

The Advance manuals are not even all that difficult. Both items needed for them are the first being a drop in BOT off one of the giant tribes, Not like you don't go there to exp anyways if you have BoT flag! The second is pretty common drops off the trash in PoTactics!

Also, don't whine about the flags needed! Ooh so hard waaaa!! If you ever play on going to the higher planes your gonna need the flags anyways.

As for Fennin Ro, Yeah he sure as hell is hard to get to and he is a nasty *******, however, again you are already getting the reward for Fennin in the gear he drops!

I for one think VI has figured our RVR and you people are the ones that need to look at the whole picture and give it up!

All you kiddies drooling over this crap have no idea what a complete waste of time the three quests are. I would suspect that you have at best completed the justice trials in pop. Go take a shot at Rallos and tell me again if this is a "sweet" item for the work you have to do to even get into the zone that a Hope stone drops.

The Sigil Earring of Veracity is a a third of the work of this retarded quest, but it at least gives you 25 to all stats and 125hp/mana. As this item stands, nobody in their right mind would bother. Hell, there are better stats on droppable bows out of parts you can farm with a single group in plane of earth.

I assume hope stone off fennin ro is no drop? seems kinda screwed up if it is... this is only a good item to those who have chosen to not join an uber guild... but if hope stone is droppable this might not be such a horrid quest afterall.

Pro:
It is a very nice range item. Good stats all around, and a mana preservation effect. Personally, I'd love to have it...but I may not want it so much in a few weeks when my guild does NToV again.

Con:
It requires you to kill so much incredibly tough stuff that the effort required to get it is enough that only a handful of them will be made, ever. Also, most classes have range slot items that are better, perhaps not all-around better but better for that class; any and all of those range slot items have less than a quarter of the difficulty of getting this one item.

This item is known to NOT be the Plane of Time key; that is actually the Clockwork Talisman in its final stage. If the manual is used in a further quest, which seems possible, then it MAY wind up being worth it.
Wait Just A Friggin Minute []

I think alot of people are missing the obvious key that this could be...

Has anyone ever actually GOTTEN this? What if it IS the key to the Plane of Time? What if it gives the knowledge to aquire the key? Keep in mind that some book equipment can be read...

YES you have to go through waaaay too much for the stats that this gives, but what about the content INSIDE the book? What if it is all worth it because it is a key item for completing something MUCH larger scale, and the text simply gives clues as to how you may use it?

Knowledge is power, my friends, and if this book is readable AT ALL, the knowledge within would HAVE to be worth all the trouble you go through to get it...

But that's just my 2 copper... I'm not in any Uber 733T guild, or whatever, and I am by no means Uber or 733T myself... I am the average high level player, so it is possible that I am just popping off at the mouth about something I know nothing about, but...

From a view outside the planes progression, and central quest, the name of this alone implies that it contains VERY powerful knowledge...

Someone had to get it for the stats and full quest to be posted here... What would be absolutely awesome is if that person would share what content the book has... It COULD be worth it after all 8) Appearances are decieving 8)
RE: Wait Just A Friggin Minute []
# Apr 11 2003 at 3:54 PM Rating: Default
I have a quick question for ya: when was the last time you ever saw a book with stats, let alone stats like this, that was readable? I'm not saying it isn't possible but it's highly illogical since to my knowledge this would be the first one in existance.

Just food for thought though concerning the key to the Plane of Time thing. Zebuxoruk is was imprisoned in Plane of Time, correct? According to EQ lore there is supposedly a "hidden city on Norrath that honor - not worship" him. Does anyone know what city this is/has anyone seen it? If so, since there might be information about Zebux there that's found nowhere else, might somebody there know how to access Plane of Time so you can break Zebux free?

Then again starting up that time-travelling Clockwork might just do it too and that whole city thing might not matter, but hey just something to think about...

long run...
# Jan 22 2003 at 9:42 PM Rating: Decent
If you were going to get the flags JUST for this item, yes, it's a waste of time.

However, you make a shopping list of things you need to save up and you tape it to your monitor. The very next time you're in that specific zone, you collect the items, and cross it off your list - when you have all the items for any specific manual, you turn in your stuff and get the upgrade.

We're all progressing to try to get to the Plane of Time. Yes, it might mean gathering up all my lvl 65 friends with 300 AA points to get there, but this is one of the pleasant diversions along the way.

Don't complain that something is hard, just do it - it's not like you lose your previous book if you fail at collecting an item.

/agree, this smells like Torrent gear HAHA

my biggest beef with this is the /laugh resists, if you can call them that. 10 to all resists? im sorry but a PoP item thats this hard to attain should have at least better than 10 to all resists. I'm not even going into the other stats because I'll still be here posting 3 days from now.

The item is not as bad as furor (the biggest whiner of EQ) has blurted out to be.

The way I see it, he judged this particular item because it is simply just an average stats for HIS character (a WARRIOR).

It is a pity that this item is "no drop" for I am positive that a handfull of FoH member would love to get this. Especially, casters.

If you check FoH members list and check some of their casters "Magelo Profile" you will see that there are a handfull that have use for it.

Also, bare in mind that just because some players are a member of uber guild, it does not mean each members of their guild has everything they want. Uber guilds has an average of around 55 members full time and maybe around 65+ including part timers. There is no way in hell a guild can equip all members of items drop (lets say as a sample) from VT. Take in consideration the drop rate, spawn time of mobs, competition from other guilds, and time it takes to complete a raid.

The items we loot does not give us an instant God like stats (that only happens in Diablo). WE have to learn to MIX and MATCH.

There are not a lot of range items for casters that has an all-round stats such as this item.

/agree

Just because you are member of an uber guild does NOT mean you have better then this. Just an example I was playing a 51 pally doing a wToV raid. The Breastplate dropped for eth Skyshirne turn in. My instead of going to me with my puny 38 ac breastplate with medicore stats. It went to the ONLY otehr plate class there. He was wearing the Champions BP. Geeze.

Now somebody else in same position, that isnt GETTING teh uber drops but on the raid with teh guild that is killing these ubers kills, wiyld love this item. Theyjust need to be lucky enough to get a hopestone when it comes time to loot it.

When you say if you are killing these kill then you have better. Well there are probably 40 other people there that want teh better too. Someone eventually will HAVE to settle for this.

Clearing up a few points
# Jan 16 2003 at 6:24 PM Rating: Decent
Keep in mind, BTW, that what Furor was saying here was not that this isn't "good enough" for the end-game. What he said (and go look at their site for more on this) is that if you can get this, you MUST already have far better. Just look at what the flag mobs (e.g. RZ) drop on the way to this. You'll have gotten far better.

Personally, I agree with others. I think that this item is too obviously under-powered for the work, and there's simply no doubt that you'll see a PoTime quest that requires this, or perhaps 14 quests.

A range-epic would be an interesting thing. How would it display? Would it give a particle effect to the player?

# Jan 17 2003 at 2:14 AM Rating: Default
ok, lets see here, a 15 to ALL stats, maybe some people like to try and get ALL their stats worked, i would sure love this book, and will try to get it done personally, just finished the first caster book so looks like i have alot of work to go through.
RE: Clearing up a few points
# Jan 17 2003 at 3:22 PM Rating: Decent
ahhh tsk tsk, for a 60th epic mage you're none too bright. Reread the first post better and you will see what I mean. While most want to work all stats, a warrior like Furor or bard like Thott or even a necro like Zaar who would be getting this already has his/her key stats maxed. So you say you want to build other stats? Those aren't too hard to bring up either, most powergamers can get all the points available for stat increase aas in a short period of time. Which brings us to raw stats and effects. The mana preservation, while helpful, is only useful for a limited number of classes. The raw hp and mana, to be blunt, suck. In the era of post-luclin and its 125 hp/mana items, you must wonder where such a crappy ratio was inserted. Lets go through a logical progression here. To kill Kunark dragons, a guild before velious had to have the best items available at the time. Rubicite may have conquered Vox and Naggy, but Trak was a whole different story. Then came Velious, and guilds weren't, I promise, fighting AoW with their leet tank using Cobalt BP. They had to work to get armor they could use, and the rewards they got were improvements which let them go to the next expansion. And so we come to PoP. In this age of new stat caps, incredible buffing power, and full suits of class specific quested armor granting melees hundreds of bonus attack points, an item which could be more easily accessed by a guild with less skill by going to VT, which is, from what I gather, a much easier zone as a whole than the Fennin encounter alone. TY for your time, I love you all.

um unless you are in the top guild on your server and have tier 4 access and can kill gods with ease you arnt going to be able to complete this quest
. it requires ALL 3 Manuals ( thats 9 total quests in which the second quest is a pain and the 3rd quest is insane for the RvR X3 remember)

#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 14 2003 at 4:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Apparently this is the last piece of this quest. I'll stick with Furor, the guild leader of argueably the baddest guild in EQ, and say that this is crap compared to what you have to do to get it.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 14 2003 at 1:18 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) DUDE for the risk VS Reward for this, I wouldn't wipe my @$$ with it. WTF is Verant Smoking? Crack? PCP? My 2cp
# Jan 14 2003 at 11:49 AM Rating: Decent
I guess I am a little confused by some of the posts in this section. Perhaps because I do not play on an RvR server. This appears to be quite a bit better than a number of the other ranged items that are out there. The stat bonuses on it, for a ranged item, are quite good. Additional resists are always welcome on an item as well. Not to mention that the 15% reduced mana cost focus is a peach also. I admit that the amount of work is extremely (read: ridiculously substantial, but there are also not a huge number of ranged items that have this many bonuses. The bulk of the EQ players out there are not playing on an RvR server (or PVP server for that matter). They are on PvE servers, and this would be an item that would be useful in those cases. It would personally give me the ability to concentrate on what is really important for the rest of my gear (i.e. AC and HP). Feel free to disagree with me. :)
RE: My 2cp
# Jan 14 2003 at 2:32 PM Rating: Decent
Two notes: One, sorry about the RvR confusion. I thought they were taling about the Sullon Zek faction based server. I feel a little stupid. {sigh} Live and learn. Second, it is obvious from my level, that the high end game still eludes me. I guess I am a bit naive on the available items out there. For me, this item thoroughly trounces my breastplate in every way accept for AC and it is a darn ranged item no less. Heck, I still /drool over the Deepwater Breastplate that I am about 10 levels away from even being able to consider. So, for someone in my level range this is a fantastic item. However, perhaps when I get into my sixties and have a better selection of equipment to choose from, I will have a far different perspective.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 14 2003 at 1:08 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) having to kill a couple of the hardest mobs in the game makes this junk. you would expect to get 150 hp/mana a bunch more ac and better saves for the risk the effect is a little bit of a let down even, but not horrible. takes all kinds of time to be able to even attempt to fight in the places to get this done, and in the end you get an item that on line with a velious type quest.

Haha nice ID insert. EQ designers really are out of touch with the real RvR in EQ.

Maybe if some of them actually played the game more they would understand why most pple will think this is crappy loot given the time and effort required to obtain it.
