Does anyone know what this looks like equipped? I dont want to spend my DKP on something that looks like a soulstripper... its a toss up between this and a Mithril Battle Hammer with the graphic being the main tie breaker.

I got this of Razorfin, as for using your DKP /shrug you don't need to raid for this, we killed all the named with this on it's loot table with one group.

It procs between 3 and 5 times a fight and crit blasts for mid 500's it's a great wep, very happy with it. .

Pain in the *** to get this club :(

Water is always empty , besides Coirnav or elem-dropping nameds raids .
Hard to get guildies to come here , low xp for hunting some nameds who very rarely drop the club is not really fun :/

Was in a group the other day killing nameds. This dropped, I lost the roll on it, but the cleric who won passed it to me. I could have kissed her feet for it! IT totally rocks!!

I hope very much to obtain this for my 65 shaman. I didn't really pay much attention to PoW named but once i saw this drop i was hooked. It is better than the 2hb that will never drop off one of the Penixes in PoFire, and easier to obtain.

Ive seen that 2hb drop from the charm birds so many times, although my guild uses them for warm up practice, and id say 1 in every 10 kills will get the 2hb priest weapon from the birds. Still a neat weapon for the priest classes
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 06 2003 at 2:23 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Dunno what guild your with Mathi but if it's anything like mine 'Nexxus of Faith' on torvo we won't allow anyone non-guildies on guild raids for re-flagging, the only time we do it's for other elementally able guilds who like us will allow a trail member to tag onto a raid to pick up a back flag or two so they can catch the rest of the guild up. Being elementally flagged is a huge investment in time and effort, it took me months to become fully flagged. That investment is protected by most guilds that are elementally flagged, by not allowing john doe to tag onto a raid and start messing it up for the rest, besides even if the odd person was elementally flagged, there's very little they could do on there own~

Wow, reading this now is really funny.... E-marr has had a huge number of successful PU raids the flagged random people from Grummus to Rallos Zek. Often these were led by people that were already in or past Time, but not always. I would imagine that its similar all over the servers now.

Some people will always think that what they do can not be duplicated by just "anyone." Mathi could not have been more correct... People now will say that a PU force will never get to anguish, but if you go a year or two down the road, if everquest is still alive I'll bet you do see PUs in Anguish, or at least going through the PG raid trials.

"I'll bet you not more than 10% of EQ Players will ever get to see this zone!" They said that about Trakanon, and about ToV, and about VT. EQ will be around for a while, and plenty of people are managing to squeeze themselves into elemental flagging raids.

What I don't understand is...WHY do they bother printing an offhand ratio for this weapon when it is only priest usable? Yeah, I am gonna dual wield....
RE: Not always
# Jan 23 2004 at 2:24 PM Rating: Default
Actually I doubt that more than 15% will ever be fully Elemental Flagged. (Fire,Water,Air,Earth) Less than 10% will keyed for Elemental B. It is a ton of work to get an entire guilded flagged for elemental. It takes a well organized, non-zerg guild to accomplish all the tier 1,2,3 stuff. RZ, Bert, and MM being the more difficult encounters, not to mention EQ2 coming out prob this year will kill some of EQ's population.

Goto prexus and look at barbraid channel its pretty much the channel for pick up zerg raids and they have gotten many people EP flagged including fire.

I play a level 54 cleric atm, and i love to get up off my lazy bum and melee some, i mean a cleric has a boring boring job in good groups, so i would fall asleep if i didnt get up and melee. this weapon makes the little i do hit the mob worth standing up and doing it.

The stats kinda suck so you wouldnt normally have this item equiped and unless it processes a TON theres no way your melee could come close to your spell dps. And before its said if your oom then you should delete and start a new class immediatly. Would be fun for pvp though when you wanna add insult to injury and melee that melee class to death once you've allrdy nuetered them. Go rabid, boost that attack to 14-1500 and have at em!

I have the staff of the silent star which has a similar proc to this. With Focus, Daiku, and FA (all shaman buffs, mind you) my DPS, as a necromancer, is close to that of a 65 bard with reasonable weapons. Not uber... but 13/17 prmary and such. My 65 bard friend and 65 shaman friend were messing arround and decided to find out.

Now, I know bards are not the best dps in the world but if an int caster can come pretty close to a bard with a weapon inferior to this... yeah.

Anyways, who said you couldn't cast if you were meleeing? Who said you had to be OOM? A lot of raid fights, you can't even sit down. Might as well smack the bugger when you're not casting. ;)

In my humble opinion....

During a raid this could lead to very useful DPS. Many of the encounters, even in the tier 4 zones, require massive dps in order to be successful. Granted, this item is a hazard in terms of possible agro, however, with the right tank, the right timing, any class could definitely engage with this item with very little chance of pullnig agro. The HP/Mana makes it a great item to have full time, and in terms of xp grouping, the usefulness is obvious.

An example would be...
Main tank and Ramapage tank engage for 10 to 15 seconds then the remaining meleer's engage. Rampage Cleric wields this weapon, along with another rampage blaster such as a druid, also wielding this weapon. In some encounters, rampage healers could easily squeeze in a couple melee rounds in between heals, especially if the mob is crippled, and if the ramapge healers are hasted, with decent dex, they will proc, and that's free dps.

Another scenario would be a close proximity Silence encounter where you can't dodge or distance yourself away for X amount of seconds....
Start banging till silence wears off, and yet again, free dps...

Quicker kills = smiley face, hehe. Just my 2 copper.
Bah!

Reading the posts on this are quite intresting, I'll bet you not more than 10% of EQ Players will ever get to see this zone! It's a tier 4 zone, I'm a lvl 58 Shammy and have missed out on a couple of flags for tier 2 zones due to LD and death. But seriously this would'nt be used in a raid situation for fighting, period. It would be held for the stats alone, the sta, wis, mana and HP are great! but on off raid days this would seriously kick *** for AA exping in small groups.

Slacethehard lvl 58 shammy

Torv

Fully elementally flagged and now lvl 65 and with a little more experience. Pretty much would agree with my earlier post and embelish what was already said ~ nice stats for a shaman! not seen it drop yet, but hope to soon. there is a fight in PoF against the Arch Mage that makes any melee dps very important, after malos, slow cripple lands I'm pretty much out of mana due to his ae, it's the one raid mob I've done where I get down and dirty with the warriors, this would be nice to whip out now and then on raids but would primarly be used as a farming weapon.

I agree. While on a raid this will help with the added hp/mana and stats, soloing with this thing would kick ***. I'm a 51st shaman and I do alot of soloing. I currently have the Rune Etched Icewurm fang 12/19 81dd proc, but 32/23? I'd be doin those mobs a hurtin.

K. I like all the coments about hey why would a shammy or druid need this or what now we have Cleric tanks? Umm....you guys ar emissing the point about these caster weapons and the points are simple to see....
1- First not every caster belongs to a great Uber Guild and actually do have to fight for a living on the game.
2- Some Casters like to solo every now and than. I mean hell I have a 47 shammy friend who loves to solo with just him and his pet this would work well with the extra mana shot and the ratio
3- the extra mana on this would come in handy for any non-Uber caster.
So stop with the bs and break the weapon down first to make sure there is truly no use for it before debating how good it truly is.

Do you realize where this comes from? An elemental plane. A level 65 character would not melee with this. They wouldnt even want this more than likely. Probably with be /random'd off to whoever because by the time you can even get to Plane of Water, you will have had a 125hp/mana item with a worn effect on it. No priest in his right mind will melee with this while on a raid and raiding is what guilds who can get to PoWater do. kkthnx.

I melee. I'm a level 65. I'm not elemental but I'm one RZ kill away from it. Hell no, I don't do it on raids, but that doesn't mean I don't do it. The post above said nothing specifically about raids. And actually, shamans might get a few swings in once in a while.
Yes, a 125 hp/mana item is fine and dandy except that it might take a while for one to filter down to you if you have other priorities.
And btw, I don't know about other advanced guilds, but mine doesn't random anything. If nobody is willing to spend points on it, it *rots*. Too easy to exploit the system if you can get the loot without spending.

OK, your guilded with a bunch of idiots. You actually let gear rot? If noone is willing to spend points then have anyone who can use random on it if they want. No sense in letting a good item rot simply because your on a raid to kill Solesk Ro and everyone is wanting to save points for his drops.

one night some guildies and i went to kael for a little giant bashing me(rogue) a bard a cleric and a caster i think the only one that had thhe ac and lvl to single and take a beatin was the cleric so he nuke pulled and never lost agro and with me there it can be hard but he always had himself ched and rockin the house we didnt have trouble till we went to the little ramp area that people pull to

but what's the proc rate? 450 damage is great, but I can get that much out of 3-4 procs of Hammer of Souls too. (BTW, I'd love to have one good aggro weapon. There are actually times when I'm doing goofy things and want to take aggro.)

You'd never see anyone pull this out on a raid if they actualy had a job to do (and if you don't have a job, well, they realy didn't need you did they?). You will see casters using this while soloing or hunting in small groups. It's vaguly discomforting to see the cleric running around banging on things but as long as kei is keeping his mana up and he procs his new spells everything is good. With this, you might even consider getting an extra cleric for melee damage :p
Not exactly a serious item but could be alot of fun.

FYI Clerics at 56+ with their Yaulp 5 spell can Regen mana a tid bit faster than sitting...don't believe me?

This is the test I ran.
Level 61 Halfling Cleric was our subject
240 Wisdom Unbuffed
No Mental Clarity AA's or Flowing Thought Items.
Just non-worn effect gear and KEI for both tests.

We had him spend all his mana dumping CH's up till the point he couldnt even yaulp till a tick went by (1 mana regeneration base standing)

For the first run we had him stand untill he is able to cast yaulp, and then re-cast the spell every time it refreshed.

Took about 1 minute 30 seconds to go back up to FoM

Second time he sat down and medded with KEI

Took slightly longer...1 minute 50 seconds.

um, was his meditate maxed? You get more sitting than yaulping. 10/tick yaulping. Meditating is roughly 30. Yaulping is only for times you have to be standing and aren't on a horse...or if you're meleeing.
BTW, if you're telling me that in either case a cleric at level 56 took under 2 minutes to get to full, either he's naked (and you said he had 240 wis) or you're making stuff up. It takes me 6 or 7 minutes to get to full with C5, FT10, BAoR, and medding.

Not really.

Unlike melee classes, casters get no damage bonus. Any damage a caster(in this case, a priest) does is based entirely on the weapon, the skill, and to a small degree the delay. With my shaman at 200 1hb and 200 offense, I would hit for around 132-136 max I think. If I remember the numbers correctly, this weapon would be the same as a melee having a 19/23 item. Besides a few Pal/SK weapons, I can't think of any melee weapons with a 32/23 level of ratio; however, I can think of and have seen a good number of weapons in the 19/23 level of ratio. On top of that, melees have much higher attack than a caster AND can dual/double+ attack.

I know I'm probably beating an obviously dead horse, but consider what classes can use the item before you look at the stats and start to cry. I've seen plenty of items tank only that I would give my left n*t to be able to equip on my shaman, but they're melee only. Why do I want the item so bad? Because it would be really really awesome on a shaman. =) Why does the item get flagged for melee only? Because the item was designed to bolster the melee's weak point/s without requiring that they equip some gimped out caster style item.

It's just another one of those items aimed at a specific group of classes and has had its stats adjusted to reflect the capabilities of the class/es.

Anyways, observation done with. Enjoy the game. =)
