Ok for a level 10 SK can anyone give an estimate of how many combination of gobbies and orcs it would take to kill to keep the guards from trying to kill me? Would like to get to indifferent so that if I kill one to get this I wouldn't automatically go back to threatenly. Any idea?
There are 2 versions of the squad ring. The lootable version, like you said, does drop from Rivervale guards, the burglar looking guys that KS the newbies all the time. The ring showed at the top of the page is actually the quested version. It's obtained via a quest in Rivervale that involves a lot of faction work. My halfling cleric spent levels 6-12 killing goblins and orcs to get enough faction to get this item.
Just so you know, I did this quest by doing the bandage quest in Misty. It took me 63 stacks of bandages to get from amiable to ally, ran to the NPC, and said " Am I one with the wall?" I got the ring and faction with them dropped to amiable. No killin, but it cost me about 80pp in bandages. Maerchants are still ally too.
I have this ring on both my cleric and my druid. It has 1 charge, and can be recharged by giving the ring to Hendi Mrubble in the cleric guild in RV - she will hand it back recharged.

What does that have to do with the item at the top of the page? Don't do that. YOu're not going to get alot of help unles you post it on a Warior or Barbarian spacific site. Please think befor you take your next breath. It could go to someone more worthy ;)
I got the squad ring when i was level 12. When i tryed to get a second one from him after raising faction for it again, i realized it was lore, thus lowering my faction a second time. just MINUTES after that i was doing a bit of smithing in the forge across town when i was rearraging things in my inventory. i moved the ring into the forge while i got organized, and then it wouldnt let me take it back out. i called the gm, and he wanted to see if he could remove it, but when he opened the forge it was gone, and i had to raise my faction a 3rd time. i finally got it again, thank god. so just remember, DONT SET YOUR SQUAD RING IN THE FORGE!!
The ring can be triggered from inventory, it does not have to be worn.
Doing the quest and getting the ring causes a huge faction drop, meaning that you cannot immediately get another ring. You can work your faction back up to get another ring.
The ring has a single charge of healing. Once that charge is used, it is gone. You need to do the quest to recharge the ring, or destroy it and get another one at the point.
When you actually get the item from having good enough faction, your faction with the Warriors of the Vale (Rivervale Warriors Guild and deputies) actually DECREASES to where you can't just get another one. You'd have to build your faction up again.
Verant decided that people destroying the ring and just getting another one instead of recharging it was an exploit that they had to fix so they spent time to change it to where you lose faction when you finish the quest instead of actually spending that time fixing other broken quests or items.
I just got mine yesterday, WOOT! Anyway, I had ally faction, but he still wouldn't give it to me...someone said got get more beads to turn in. So I got about 20 more, and turned them in 4 at a time to Sheriff Roglio at the top of the bank. Then I got my ring from Ghobber.
I have some questions tho: What faction do i need with Rivervale clerics...I have amiable.
My druid has both Quest and Loot versions of the ring. I have not actually tried to equip both at the same time, since the Quest version can be triggered from the inventory, but I assume that you can equip both at once if you want to.
The picture of the item looks fake. The ring picture is in the bottom right corner instead of the top and Lore Item is ()s. Just curious before I waste time building up faction.
Yes, this is true, although you may think it isn't after you have worked on this a while. It takes a long time to kill all the goblins, orcs and incarnations of Mooto and turning in the appropriate bounty item to get enough of a reputation to get the ring. But, it casts on the run, I have never had it interrupted and has saved my life more than once.
How do you recharge the ring. I have it now and I have hailed Heidi in the Cleric's guild. She is supposedly the NPC to recharge it. I'm afraid to just hand it over in fear that she may not return it.
if Heidi doesnt give it back....go back and get another one...if your faction is still where it's supposed to be at or more, what's to say you wont get another? after all...it's lore only
Worth keeping around if you are hunting in Highpass or Kithicor. Just incase of emergencies. Although 80HP Isn't alot, it may be just what you need to save yourself. You can also get your factions up with GuardiansOfTheVale by killing bixies. Bixies drop honeycombs, which you see alot of chanter's buying, usually for about 1pp for the Stein of Moggok Quest. So make a few plat and get a lifesaver, what more could you ask for? hehe...
