Level 65 Dps's Monk: 200 Rogue: 210 Ranger: 188 with just archery 212 with Archery + Nukes. 468 with Trueshot/Guardian of Forest Ranger Meele: 188 with pure meele 199 with meele + nukes 260 with Meele + Nukes + Guardian
Parsed by Fires of Heaven of the Veeshan Server.
Rogue was using the 16/19 Vulak Dagger and Render of Souls Monk was using some VT weapons whose names/delays I honestly forget. Ranger was using AHB + Vyhzdra's combo and a Wormwood Bow (32/29)
The way it parses out right now.
Non high end, Rangers using Archery Mastery 3 and Endless Quiver will outdamage rogues and monks who aren't using NtoV or better weapons. (This is assuming a 30/36 bow, 11 damage arrows and Quiver haste in an encounter where line of sight is sustained)
In the high end where all of these classes get similar quality weapons (Monk weapons are dirt cheap nowadays heh...Gold Inlaid Ulak's Anyone?) the damage output becomes similar, with monks and rogues significantly ahead of the Ranger's pure meele, and about equal to Ranger's Meele + DD spells (Which sadly costs mana as its balancing factor and can't be kept up indefinetly without a Necro dedicated to mana pumping the ranger)
Archery Damage Output also scales to meele damage by level 65 as bows' do not get as much of a bonus to damage from leveling as swords do.
By this point Archery becomes roughly equivalent to Ranger meele (both pure) and its balancing factor becomes the fact we do have some really bad Line of Sight issues in EQ, but at the same rate archery allows Rangers to avoid AE damage, and keep a low aggro compared to the other meele classes (Yes in some raid wipe outs Rangers are among the last meele standing because of this)
As far as pure meele goes Rangers are by far the lowest output out of the 3 damage classes (Pure value is the best comparison as per 100% magic resistant mobs) But our situational damage via Archery and Trueshot is the highest (2 minutes every 72 minutes usablity)
As far as Im concerned, the three classes are finelly balanced in the high end. In all the areas, damage and utility.
my 2cp And yes, I have an alternate Rogue and Alternate monk for when I need either of the class' abilities in raids :) (And also its weird a level 58 is talking about the high end game...flash, NtoV aint high end anymore)
not sure what this has to do with this range item at all. But since its about a year old post, you can ADD Beastlords into your "the 3 damage classes " list On most Mobs I usually do anywhere from 170 up to over 230DPS depending on resistances and wether MT can maintain aggro if i go all out. Most MTs cant so i have to tone down my atk to keep from getting aggro. I know Beast that do over 275DPS, so we are clearly in the top 3 of the melee DPS classes.
You had me giggling dear. You broke my bubble. I thought NTOV was still the end game. /giggle
Thank you for posting the DPS for well equipped level 65 people. I was actually looking for those parse results the other day.
Well in any case the item is lovely for whomever wins it. I would be hard pressed to loot this gem to swap it out for my bow for those times I go melee. I would much prefer a guildie whom this would never leave their range slot, than to have me swapping it out back and forth.
Fleh! Those DPS figures are worthless. There are too many variables to just spit out the numbers like that. Besides, the general agreement in the FoH department is that monk dps is far behind the dps of rogues, so don't believe everything you read. I read a parse yesterday that put a monk around 140dps. That doesn't mean I believe a well equipped monk's dps is always 140.

Um, oogie, either talk to some upper lvl ppl or wait till you get to endgame and re-evaluate your statement. Post 60 or even 50 in some cases, rangers have the ability to outdamage ANY other class. I believe if any class got jipped it would be monks, but they do insane amounts of damage without help anyway. At endgame a warrs main job is to keep agro, not do damage, although it is true, warrs do some major damage. At endgame, you are usually relying on rangers, rogues, monks, and wizzies for that damage (not necessarily in that order). Which is why if you look at classes, you can see different ways to stay alive for different classes, rangers get jolt (one of the greatest spell lines ever imagined), rogues can evade, monks can fd, and well smart wizzies know when to nuke. The only hitch that a ranger would hit is that you can't have the insane dex while usin your bow. But rangers can use the dex meleein, just not to as much effect as bow usin.
