65hp > 2ac.

cleric is gonna CH you anyway, so HP gear is just giving them a longer time to med between heals, and maximizing their heals.

People are saying 500pp and 4k. Why? Is it needed for a quest somewhere? I understand the rarity raises price from the seller's point of view. But not the buyers, unless it is needed for something significantly more than a +8 to AC.

for 8ac, that is the simple reason. There are some people who swear by AC so much that to them an 8ac ring is better then say a crafted 6ac 65hp ring
pc?

Maybe my logic is a little flawed but I cannot see the value of such an item unless you just like having an item that few others do.

Velium Fire Wedding Ring (Crafted) 6ac +65hp
Ring of Dominance (Rare Drop) 8ac

Everything that I have heard (this is where I may be wrong) is that 1ac can be roughly traded for 15hps in an item. So:

65hp /15 ~= 4ac giving the Velium Fire Wedding ring a value of about 10ac

10ac for a 600pp (give or take a couple hundred)
or
8ac for 4k?

I believe this may answer the question just below here why everyone was offering 500pp for it. It isn't as good as a player crafted item (moderately easy to attain).

Again maybe my logic is flawed but then... an item is only worth what two people agree on.

#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 13 2002 at 8:21 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) For Mr. Anon Clueless Newbie without a clue, no the higher AC you have does not mean the mob is less likely to land a hit on you. As you grow up, and pass level 10, you will learn that item AC is totally different than total AC. Item AC affects "Damage Mitigation" which is how you sometimes manage to take less than a mob's max damage per hit. The higher your item based AC, the less damage mobs will do to you. Defense skill and agility affect "Damage Avoidance" which is the part of your AC that helps you keep from being hit.

Ok, lets do the math... The higher your ac is, the less likely a mob is going to land a hit on you. So, sure, its only 2 ac higher then the Velium Fire Wedding Ring, But if it prevents you from getting hit...then its better then the 65 hp bonus. Remember...mobs at the level you'd have to be to get this can hit for well over 65 hp with one hit...so, think about.......wouldn't you rather have the ac?

I heard different.
I've heard that AC reduces damage. It can reduce it to the point where the hit on you did not do enough dmg to get over your AC, which comes up as a miss.

But, mobs that hit for 320 or whatever a hit, seem to hit up there everytime, or completely miss. This theory of AC lowering dmg taken would mean that you would be seeing a variety of hits up to 320 (320 is just a number that popped in my head as an example) There are usually some hits inbetween, but not many.

This seems to be the most widely agreed upon way that it works, it just doesn't quite sit right with me.

SIGH!

I know nobody reads this, but learn the difference between mitigation and avoidance ac, and which classes get what how much before posting this crap

Hey, I am so glad to finally ring a price on this ring, a Ranger freind gave me one and I have been tring to sell it. But I didn't want to sell it for less then it was worth and everyone was telling me 500, I am glad I didn't go with what they said.

I was camping the cycle in FM with a ranger friend of mine. We must have camped this cycle for several days. The ring dropped the first time I killed the Warlord and then didnt drop for 10 more times. We ended up with 2 total. Sold the first one for 4k.

Hmm, I have yet to see this item in game, either on a character or auctioned. Also, never seen/heard of one drop, nor do any other EQ sites have it listed (that I have found)

It is not fake at all. I have a real life level 54 Ranger friend that is wearing one right now. (I inspected him) He is on Quellious server, name is Fadamor Shadowstalker.

drops off a sarnak warlord in Frontier Mts. I managed to get one on my first warlord kill, have never gotten once since. Not sure how rare they are.

I beg to differ, the warlord is very much on the cycle... I did that ****'d cycle a lot back in my low 50's. Here is a list of everything on the cycle.

Goblin:
Cheiftan, Iksar Slayer, Blutgin, prospector, Rockwolfe, dustscryer, wandering stone healer, trailblazer, headhunter, herbcollector, a goblin raider (note: regular goblin raiders won't have the "a" in front of their name. They'll just be "goblin raider." The one you're looking for is "a goblin raider.").

Giant:
Krenlek, Gromlok, prospector, Overseer Miklek, Miner Bordakn, Goblinstomper, a mountain giant hillock (you'll know this last because he's much easier than the other giants in the area, and spwans directly after the goblin kill.).

Burynai:
Burynai treasure seeker, grand cenobite, Bonedigger, Dustback, Gemeye, Eboneyes, squad leader, Stonegrinder, Burynai miner (look for the capital "b" in Burynai for the rare miner. The other miners will be just "a burynai miner" where the rare will be "a Burynai miner.").

Sarnak:
Varithyx, Clazxiss, mystic, goblin coward, warlord, Bloodscale the Vicious, Slithinis, scavenger, rebel, mangy brute, rabid brute, Joojooga, Boogoog, diseased brute, Draketamer

Thanks Meri for the above =D
