Hunted in Befalled last night and the Foreman spawned on the first floor in the very back. I killed him at level 14 though it was a tough fight and I was heavily buffed.
the name of the game is everquest. in my opinion, you ought to be able to level from 1 to 65 doing nothing but quests. in fact, that's what i expected when i originally bought the game, just after kunark release. these are hardly uber items, just nice and in my opinion, a very reasonable risk/time-reward ratio. i don't consider myself a casual gamer at all, i know my family doesn't! i hope they continue to fill in all the class gaps so that, as i said, we can quest constantly at any level to upgrade our gear.
Nice post, Coebe. I also enjoy the fun of questing but try not to get too hung up on leveling all the time. There are a ton of quests to do at every level.
I agree that it would be nice if quests gave better XP. I know the Crushbone Belts quests can get you a pretty decent amount of XP. Probably others out there I just don't know them.
This guy does still spawn, you just have to kill the Excavator Skelly's, there's 4 of em... I just did the bridle quest last night, so he does still spawn...
I just did this quest three times in a row. The foreman spawned everytime we cleared the room, so a whole lotta people got to do the quests. And if you do the ammy quest first, you can then get the stuff for the bridle. Two quests for the price of one.
the skeleys are on like an 18:30 timer, only took a 34 druid and 37 ranger about hour tops to get the foreman to spawn, maybe 3-4 spawns? saw him about an hour before that
This quest is balanced out by the difficulty it takes to get the Skeletal Foreman to spawn. Took me several hours of clearing the skeletal excavators to get him to spawn. Goodluck everyone :)
This is a flat out great item. Considering the fact that you could easily get this at 15, or even lower if you had help, this item is fantastic. Great item, nice fairly simple quest.
Never thought I'd ever do this, but /cheer Verant.
Umm, why would they nerf it? As far as I know it's a pretty new quest. And for better or worse, the days of rewards like a rusty LS and 1sp 6cp on newbie/lowbie quests are gone forever.
Look at the rewards for all the recent noob armor quests, then ask yourself if something like this fits in that same scheme for a player that is a bit higher level. Why yes, yes it does. Funny how that works eh?
Anyway, I think it's great that lowbie finally have a chance to get some decent stuff.
I would expect to see more items like this in the future (within reason of course, EQ2 is looming after all), as Verant is working on capturing more of the casual gamer sector. That means slightly more award than we've seen in the past for lower lvl characters. The casual gamer isn't going to want to keep going back again and again for the occasional smattering of silver and copper (when most things cost PP anyways).
Could I get some of the rationale behind the statement that Verant (Sony, actually, there's no more Verant if I understand things correctly) is working on capturing more of the casual gamer sector? Rationale that refutes this would be: 1) recent exp bonuses for grouping; 2) making almost all of PoP unreachable for a soloer; and 3) upcoming expansion with the "dynamic dungeons" being tailored exclusively to groupers. Maybe it's just that your post is from 10/02 and is outdated now, but everything I've seen points in the opposite direction.
