Got this tonite and I luv it...a chance to drain a mob of mana and have some extra mana 4 me while I melee away is awsome....like stated it may not give the full but its still fun going melee on a mob....now all I need is a proc aug..
so you all say wizzys and other pure casters should just sit back and med/nuke? well thats insane. i say that because as a wizzy i use my CHoS all the time and will often off tank mobs, granted not raid force mobs but none the less. i have even tanked for Ldons as only tanker and WoS mobs and lived, sure had a cleric healing me, but i still held aggro over wars and other classes. its a shame really a lil ol wizzy over aggroing a true tank. I say if your a pure caster you can do some nice dps with this thing so go for it!!!
im a 63 wizard , i mellee all the time , least in exp groups i mean with just my epic i can hit for 80's its not much but on exp mobs i still go up there with epic or dagger of entrapment or primal velium brawl stick and have fun ,, and if i get 400 mana for melleing ? you bet yer *** your gonan see me in the back of every major mob with mana pissing off the rogues who cant get there backstabs off as fast now :P
Let an enchanter enlighten you. ToT does not return 400 mana on 56+ mobs. I don't even mem it anymore because the return is so low. While the dagger has very nice stats, the effect is basically useless post 60, which is where you are when you obtain this fine piece.
Frankly you're better off with Wizzy epic since the int cap is now 355. And there are tons of primarys with much better effects that you can obtain if you are at the level that can obtain this.
Just an opinion ... but if u go OOM u can sit on your **** and WAIT for the mana to come back . ... or u can just Start Stabbin away and hope this thing procs .. and do some damage at the same time .. after all .. DPS is not only what ONE can do .. it is what ALL can do .. and everyone is alwyas looking for ways to up their DPS even by ONE point a tick .. so I say .. Get a horse .. and Sit on it while u stab away :) it would be just one more way to get back mana :) and incress the groups DPS at the same time :)

Actually you have a great point =) As a cleric I sit on my mount all the time and whack away at things just help kill, and sometimes for fun. I med and do damage all at the same time. wouldnt be much different for int casters with this item. Yes the mana return on it isnt great but anything helps ! And if you get a few lil stabs in here and there, more power to you ! have fun
I'm half way through my Vex Thal key and am almost doubting if it's worth it....c'mon, the stuff tha drops is getting pretty rediculous in the way of the mobs. But if I have a chance I think I'll keep workin on my key, might as well, guild is. ;)
all the new zone items are cheesy...all of them no drop of course but worse recomended level of 60? cmon that pretty damn cheesy to me..if someone is level enough to enter this place then they should be allowed to use it..the stats and such arnt that great for level 60 restriction jeesh
the hard part of the thex key is emperor sszra... most guilds have problems killing him even once let alone the number of times it requires to get a whole guild into the zone. If you are not level 60 yet, theres probably a very slim chance you'll be one of the people getting the key item for the quest.
This drops in Vex Thal. If you can get this, you will have been 60 for a good long time, and probably be well past your class specific title for AA. For where this drops, this is like having a Recommended Level of 1, it will not restrict anyone who can actually do the zone, or get the key to the zone, which is pretty darn painful in and of itself.
Wow, newbies these days amaze me. Level sixty is EASY to get to if you put your mind to it. Plus, people have only accessed this zone on THREE servers. It is the hardest zone to get into, let alone kill the mobs.
Don't go by Alla's listing. It defaults to Triggered unless someone specifies otherwise. Look at the item screenshot. It specifically says Combat, which is a proc. If it were triggered it would say Casting Time: whatever.
since boon interferes with so much at the endgame now anyway, a chanter can haste and boon himself, enabling him to proc fairly often... when i bring my chanter to ae partys i use my little incandescent wand that procs pb stun using said buffs. 100dex buff and sltw works wonders (keep in mind, you dont actually have to land an attack to cause an item a proc, you only have to swing!
Cunningham Tinkerman Gnomish 59 Rogue with Erud chanter/sk twinkies!
Out of the above classes, the one that melees the most is necros. And why not? In most large scale raids the necro's are usualy standing around waiting to mana dump the clerics. Why not spend a little time poking at the mob and see if you can get killed when this thing procs? More seriously, it would help the entire raid if someone were seiving mana, and it wasn't the enchanter who probably slowed or tashed already. You don't want the mage doing this as his pet is already generating agro. You don't want the chanter to do this, he should be plenty busy as it is. The wizard could do this but it generates early agro so when he goes to town with his nukes later the mob might just turn around. Why not the necro that generates very little agro most of the time? If he's realy worried about agro he can feign after a few procs.
Actually the agro generated by ToT is VERY low... I often will cast it on other groups MoB's if I am Low on mana and my group doesn't have a caster handy. So the statments about drawing agro are Moot.
Very nice item gratz to those who have this rare piece of equipment.
"In most large scale raids the necro's are usualy standing around waiting to mana dump the clerics"
Only an ignorant necro that has no idea how to play their class twitches at ANY time expect rare moments of downtime. mages twitch now with T-rods. For a necro to twitch enough mana for 1 CH we could have healed the main tank for 2k, done a buttload of damage, and healed our group a bunch also.
This is an excellent item for all int casters, the stats, especially 125 hp/mana are far superior to all epics, and tossing in some extra mana sieving is a decent proc. but most of the time its better to stand back and hide from an AE and nuke/med.
Sure, I am an Enchanter and get tired of our spells creeping over to other classes. However, as long as stuff like the above exists, I will sit down and shut up (unless I have the item…then I will be up swinging away).
Look... your not going to be seeing anyone with this. You might if your lucky, but Id say per server there will be 1 person with this weapon on average.
Having an enchanter effect on it, that isnt even clickable and the weapon being no drop isnt going to eliminate enchanters.....
Enchanters are never going to become obsolete becuase of an effect on a weapon
Yeah, you'll see a lot of people meleeing of those 4 classes.... see that (Combat) listed? That means its a proc. How many chanters/wizards/necros/mages are going to be meleeing? Not very many.
So what does this make this item? "A toy". It has some redeeming qualities in the +125 hp/mana, but that's about it.

That's why included the word IMAGINE in there. As in, "Ahh, how whimsical"
The point is, in this world, there's is OBVIOUSLY a way to make a 20 damage dagger, yet no (?) Rogue usable piercers go over 16 damage. So bascially what I'm trying to say is "COUGH IT UP!"
From a couple of the new caster weps they have been adding, it seems like they are trying to get casters up off there butts and melee, being an enchanter it is my job to drain mana as much as possable, this takes the cake..
