Have had this weapon on my monk for years. Since Velious when 60 was the lvl cap, my monk is now lvl 70 and this is still one of the weapons I carry with me. You think what you want I dont care, but I use this weapon alot when soloing. It proc's very often, and MOST of the time it will stick the full 3 minutes. Summon up about 200 shuriekens of Eternity 30dmg 15delay throwing stars,, Proc root on mob, step back click epic and hit autofire. melee or ranged weapons will never break root like spell nukes. As soon as root breaks or when I want it to break I just hit my 1200 damage unresistable discipline from Dragons of norath. Rinse repeat ! . Sorry if all you people can find to do with this weapon is argue about it. But its a Very very useful weapon to me, I have solo'd mobs with over 50k hps using this. Yes I am mostly Qvic / Plane of time geared but thats besides the point, I never would be able to do what I do solo without this item.
As far as root being bad in groups, When I join a group and the occasion rarely arises,, but does arise that I need to tank (8045 hps unbuffed) I can equip this weapon and Keep the mob ON ME. A rogue can do as much damage and never pull aggro off of me because of how proximity aggro works on rooted mobs. If you dont understand this concept just keep playing, after a few years you might get it.
I never use it on raids - I think anyone who does is stupid, hands down. Too many variables and better dps weapons out there for that stuff anyhow.

Edit : ok since my origional post it has been a year , now 12k unbuffed and dont use these fists anymore LOL ,, they are still fun to play with though

quite simple, monks arent meant for dps. This doesnt mean that they cant do dps, for anyclass with the right gear can. They are aimed towards pulling. They have fd, if a pull goes wrong, and mend, if you get hit by a mob and are too far from the healer to get a heal, as well as being able to loose aggro the second u get back to camp and the warrior has aggro on it.

The only downside to this weapon I can see is the root proc.It can be a lifesaver or it can kill you if your not careful. Reason being, rooted mobs will fight back as long as they can't move.Now if your soloing and barely manage to get a mob running with low hp yourself, and root procs, you may find yourself on a corpserun.Had this happen to me thanks to a passing "helpful" druid lol

I'd never turn down a weapon like this soley because of that possibility, its a very very very nice weapon, its just something to keep in mind.Can only imagine how godlike this is on a pvp server

Root is a downside? Are you a moron? It's simple.

In the case you were speaking of with the "helpful druid" (no such thing, druids are EEEEVILLLL), you BACK OFF. Step back a few feet. The fleeing mob now stands there. You bind your wounds. Then you finish it off with more health, or you wait for the root to wear off and chase it down again. You know, just because root means that it turns to fight again doesn't mean that you actually have to fight it. Root gives you the control, not the mob.

You can step back and throw underbulk claws at it to practice your throwing skill for all I care. The point is, to a player with a tenth of a brain, root isn't going to get you killed. There are hundreds of things you can do while the mob is rooted that are advantagous to the fight.

Being a monk is alot more than clicking auto-attack and then mashing jump kick as fast as you can.

Root doesn't ***** up aggro...root causes proximity agro, meaning the person closest to the mob will get hit...which can be very useful in groups if your tank knows about it or if you have to tank...proc root you are closest person you have agro (until someone nukes it and breaks root at least). The only downside is possibly against casters which often don't even run unless they are low on hp in the first place...

If its a caster mob your in some trouble. If you use instill doubt in a safe area and it actually worked i think you would be fairly pissed off if the mob got rooted right afterwards using this weapon. I personally would not turn down getting this weapon but there are some instances where it would not be good if it proced.

You're a monk. You can feign death if you root a caster. Sheesh, people, there is some amount that goes into soloing as a monk.

There are situations were the root might not be desired, but root will never get you killed. Stupidity or lack of understanding how to deal with the root might get you killed, but the root in and of itself is a GOOD thing.

I would kill for this weapon. In fact, being as I already hate druids, I would love to kill their god for this weapon. But nobody on Tholuxe Paells server ever friggin' raids Tunare.

not that I care but yall are asuming just a monk would be using this and it is beast usable too
and there are some times root is bad like wen your in POvalor and the outer camp thats allways agro kiting is the ongly camp that wanted you in in there group

root is a good spell but it dos have it`s down sides so sing this weapion has it up and down sides I have seen some messed up stats and effects on itoms but I bet if you think about it you can find a use for them all

take the whated axe delay 150 damage 45 and a damage bones of 45 at lv 45 wen I banked it was good for the first hit some times dubled some time missed but alot times hit for 200+ and most time had a duble atack then I got it out the bank again at lv 55 wen I got the furious displin riputose for the nexst 9 seconds

so every itom in the game has a use for some thing

This is not a pvp weapon at all. None 1 handed weapons are. It might be difficult to understand why, if you never played melee on pvp server, but 2 handed weapons are way better for pvp for any class who can use them save ranger. Monk, of course, will use 2 hb for pvp.

p.s. chance that root will stick to 50+ player is in 0.0001% range :P

(note as to buying them, 1hbs generally run up in increments as price goes, where as stormwood battle staff on my server marks about the line of "now we get really @#$ expensive".) btw my druid uses 1hb, yesterday she killed a 52 sk with it... you got a @# with that?!

Ok, I've read enough posts by newbies on blueby servers tying to talk as if their unskilled ***** could fight their way out of wet brown paper bag.

I play on the mother of pvp servers, I started on rallos, but when sullon came out I went there. Here is the break down on 1hb versus 2hb.

1hb can be useful against casters as you get more push, which has a greater chance of interupting casting. If I hit a caster 15 times for 2-5 points of dmg I will interupt more often that when I smack with my 2hb for 200; it's all in push. 1hb can give a better DPS versus 2hb, depending on ratio. There are a lot of factor that go with this though: 1. If they have a DS, if this is true you will kill yourself more often than not, unless you got mad uber weapons. 2. If they are moving, dmg ratio has to do with DMG per second, in a joust fight you hold your hits to only when you in contact with them. Against 1hb's it is very easy to get away and have straight runs on them, which means your big 2hb hits every time they using 1hb's = 2hb better DMG.
3. if the other person is a newb; If they are going to stand still feel free to straif and move around them while constantly attacking, but that happens almost never at my lvl.
2hb are my weapon of choice in pvp, for a few reasons: 1. Pvp is more often that not a mental game, for example: Kirban(if you on my server you know what I'm talking about, if not read the score boards or get a clue from someone who knows)
can walk into a zone and people will leave, when in zone people shout kirban! He has killed enough people for them to know to be careful. Does this mean he is unbeatable? No, but its psychological. When using a 2hb you double hit someone for 200 or more each hit they will see their life bar move and then fight or flight kicks in. They see the big triple digets and they see that this means buisness. Even if a quad does more dmg it is smaller increment and therefore has less effect. 2. If you have a good speed and mr you can joust a caster and get out of range before they tag you with spells. 3. You take less dmg from DS's as you hit them less. 4. It is much easier to hit people in a joust situation, instead of trying to get right on top of people for any amount of time, as even a novice in pvp moves all around.

I'm sure a whole lot of bluebies will post about how I am wrong about all this cuz they fight mobs toe to toe and it seems to work just fine, and that they know a guy whole does things this way or the other, but I pvp just about everyday so I tend to think I might have a slightly greater grasp on the situation of melee combat than a druid on blueby server #18738920432.

If any real pvpers want to tell me that I'm wrong I'd like to hear it, but any bluebies should just go hug each other and sing cumbia, and stick to posting the info that you guys know, PvE combat.

This is a monk weapon pure and simple. No one does PvP anymore and on a TLP it is one of the best weapons you can get. Get over're wrong.

No ned in arguing guys monks have thier flaws as well as beastlords I have a level 30 monk and a level 58 epic beastlord I can solo much better then a monk .. do to the fact I have mana for heals and for pets heals.. but when it comes to dueling I hate to say this but a pet in duel only does a max of 33 damage not the same as fighting regular mobs (... plus we cannot ch a pet during a duel we can only heal it and a monk can deal out 1250 damage in hp to a pet almost as fast as we can heal it if its a well equiped monk ... on the other hand if you are good at playing a beastlord you will learn how to use your spells wisely .. learn to use flash of light in duels and heals .. but in the long run they are very very equal classes ) monks= uber as do beastlords so dont hate ...

WEll hmm where do I start the beastlord spell spiritual purity used to be 3/3 now its 7/7 thats 7 mana per tick 7 hp per tick and still stack with everything we get savagery which is 50 stamina 50 to all resists and 100 to attack during a raid you can keep this on one rogue and the MT due to recast time plus we now have a new siritual str which is a imbetween brells and stregth of nature its 150 hp 25 atk and alot of people want this Triad continuum ( the guild I am in and legacy of sorrow just dropped EMP of ssra for the first time on the luclin server last night and these spells where of great use so anyone that can say we are useless can personally shove it sorry but beastlords are a great class and some will never realize that until they play them as for pet buffs I heard 70 percnet haste and 90 percnet haste no its 85 percnet haste for our pets .....

Wrong, Savagery is 135 atk, 50 all resistances, 30 sta and 10 sta regen. The atk is messed up on every website, probly because they all copied each other. I wonder what the 150atk of lvl 65 Savagery (Ferocity) is really gonna be.

Wrong, Savagery IS 100 ATK, +50 resists, +25 STA, sta regen. Get your facts straight.

Melee classes get a bonus to raw ATK. The spell only increases the ATK by 100, warriors tend to get 33% more as a bonus. Its the same situation as AC, take your warrior, remove an AC 20 item. Did your AC drop by 20? NO! It dropped by quite a bit more.

Man you're stupid! A lvl 55+ Beastlord=more DPS. Warders bite at 55hps (max), Quad, bash, kick, parry and ripost. They also get a 80hp DD (or a 60dd which is unresitable, with a stun and knockback) and a spell that gives the warder 70% Haste with AC,STR,AGI,DEX. Not to mention the fact that Beastlords fight along side their warders and if the BST is good armor and plays the class right they can out damage some Rogues, WARs and Monks of the same lvl (it also helps if the BST has his or her Epic!

Take a look at this link and look at what skills/spells Beastlords get and tell me we are worthless you dumb ****! Your just jelious because Beastlords are a tough class to beat!

umm acualy bst can play part shaman and with epics they do almost as much as a monk but they don't have the ability to FD unlike a monk but they can heal and a lvl 60 bst can make thier pet lvl 47 and 90% haste a regen equal to fungal and chloro stacked together plus the normal ac hp atk str etc buffs and yes the BL 3 mana a tick buff is highly wanted seeming how it stacks with max FT and C3. anyways just my 2 cents

A monk used this on a recent monk tournament on our server. Thanks to this proc he helped eliminate over half the competition, including myself. I honestly thought some druid jumped in and started rooting random people, until I talked to him after the fight. For monk or beastlord, it's a good weapon to have because of the damage output and effect, if used in certain cases. For raids or whatnot, it might be best to switch to a different weapon.

I have fought against the pet alone and left the fight with 4 bubs(after using mend)with nothing but epic.

And I have fought and won against when the beastlord was actually helping their pet.

Don't know why the fvck you even decided to post that, especially here, since any monks with this weap will definately tear up a beastlord.

And instead of making new posts learn to fvcking reply, And that guy wasn't even talking about who can kick whos ***, he was saying a beastlord can't control agro with fd

I'll preface this by saying I do not have a Beastlord character. I have, however, played monks to various levels (I currently hydra a 58 monk). Monk damage output is indeed rather insane. However, if you take a quick look at the Beastlord spell list (Caster's Realm has a nice one), you'll notice some really key spells. A 50% slow spell, a rather nasty debuff, some serious pet buff spells (hello 85% haste and max pet STR, not to mention more DEX for procs), and an outstanding pet heal (1250HP). While you may indeed outdamage a BST pet, I think the pet may have you in longevity. Now, granted, this greatly depends on the skill of the monk (who fights someone's pet instead of trying to kill the player themselves?) and beastlord, but I do believe on any given day either one could win.

Oh, and an aside to thefoxx, posting about the level 47 pet. Don't take pet levels to be equivalent to player levels (in the same way mob levels aren't really equivalent to player levels). The mage epic pet is high-40's low-50's I believe (it's blue to a level 53 alt of mine), yet I've seen it tear up well-equipped melees.

heres an example of a LYING NEWBIE who just decided to play the beastlord class and wants to make it above anything.

Monk > Beastlord

Monk can dish out 20x as much damage as the pets, on my monk with ssra and Ton Pos Tonsmang, etc. I ripped up a beastlord in a standings were:

Him = Dead
His Pet = Dead
Me = 3 Red Bubs (w/out mend)

well all i can say is this on the Monk vs Beast duel..
Ive done i think like 6-8...ive won all 6-8 with ease....
I whoop Monks like a redheaded stepchile...

I have way more problems with a Necro or SK...
casters are tough...pure Melee is completely 0wned by a Beastlord.

as for this all good H2H weapons the Beast should get first crack at it....H2H weapons are Best for Beastlords, just like Piercers are for Rogues, and 2HB is for Monks.

Well, why don't you all quit arguing because A really good beastlord player will beat a merely good monk and a really good monk would beat a merely good beastlord. And since everyone that is posting must think that they are super monks and beastlords, I'd say it would be up to luck a lot. I have played a monk, but not a Beastlord so I'm sure beastlords are gonna reply saying i dont know what the hell I'm talking about. My main is a mage, so there's another reason for monks and beastlords to flame me, go ahead if you want, but it really is just a matter of skill and a little luck when it comes to duels.

Ok, I don't want to get anything going here, but i happen to be a 52 Beastlord player.. With the same weapons, a beastlord helping his pet in a fight against a mob would deal out the same amount of damage that a monk would.. if not more due to pet procs. Believe me guys, if a BST has all his level 60 spells. We are a force to be reckoned with. Yes, you have FD and Mend. We have no special abilities other than the pet. I think we awesome, you may think differently. I bet your guild leader wouldn't turn down the chance to have a 60 BST on the roster. Be cool, it's all good.

Ok you just mentioned FD in a thread comparing monks and beastlords PvPing each other, but anyways...

Beastlords do not have debuffing abilities like shamans do. They aren't gonna land **** on a monk with alrite gear, and they aren't gonna be able to cast much either, cuz unless the monk is an idiot he is gonna say feck that gimpy pet and walk right past it to kill the bestlord in 10 seconds and the BL won't even be able to get spell off without interuption

from dueling with my shaman i found that blind works VERY well...its not resisted often and it can be killer to any melee class...a monk that can't see is not a very good monk. other than that i believe a decent monk will beat a decent beast more often than not.

I play both a Beastlord and a Monk(L28), i love both. My friend Alex also plays a Monk (L46 Iksar), my Iksar BST is currently L45. We often group together and many times when we are bored we will duel each other for fun, usually in an Arena area such as the one in Cabalis. Neither of us have particularly uber gear (first characters on the server for both of us) but we don't have bad gear either (we both have a SCHW for example). When we duel we typically play the very fair 'only use/have the spells/affects/abilities that come with your class' -- so no potions or other clicky items. The results of such dueling? half the time he wins, half the time I do. Usually here is how a duel goes:-

1. I cast pet and start buffing myself and pet while he runs around me in circles bugging me about how slow I am *pokes Alex* ;)

2. I med to full then cast my pet haste then med to full again (i use a batfang headbang to make my buffs last longer -- focus affect).

3. We both go to opposite side of arena and count down from 10 then fight starts.

4. I sic fido and turn auto attack on, he usually ignores pet comes straight for me like a bloody missile of monkly death.

5. I cast 'flash of light' (FoL) on him, hope to god he dont resist it ;) If he does then we beat each other up for a while (usually making strafe dodges and runs around each other -- glad i have sow and he doesnt) and i keep casting FoL every chance i get. Usually it dont stick until my journeymans walking stick procs at least once.

6. First time it sticks, i run through him and strafe a bit until im out of range then I drop Drowsy on him until it sticks (refreshing FoL every time it pops up).

7. (usually at this point he is beating the living bejeesus out of my poor warder and i may have to heal it)

8. Then i proceed to slap down Malaria, Envenomed Breath and nuke him with a Frost Spear. If all those have stuck (he is usually on 30 - 50% hp by now and is gonna use mend) the fight is going VERY well for me - i only try them twice per spell.

9. I strafe around him laying down the smack down with some decentish weapons (fireclaw and ykeshan war club -- yes i change weapons in combat) and healing fido if he gets below 30% and above all keeping da monk blinded whenever possible.

10. Depending on how much he dodges/blocks/ripostes and how often my weapons proc his *** and arent resisted the fight usually ends a few mins later. Sometimes i might need to back off and heal myself a little. usually fido doesnt die but sometimes he does. i dont really care as long as he's used his Mend and is on 50% hp when da doggie dies.

Its all very dependant for me on his combat performance, how much he resists my spells and how much my pet manages to hit him and sucessfully proc on him(ouchie for the monk if not resisted). Sometimes he attempts to cream my pet fast in which case i play pet healer and dot/nuke the hell out of him while he's occupied. If he raises his resists any more i will probably have to start meleeing him more, i can stand up to him fairly well in melee (decent ac and my combat skills are maxed for my level) but usually in a pure toe to toe i'm going DOWN -- cant argue with his DA and overall combat skill. Hate it when he uses his resistant discipline.. grrr...

Its all a barrel of fun for both of us. Neither of us consider each other's character any more or less than the other. Usually my pet tanks the tougher mobs when we group and Alex helps out whenever his hp isnt too low -- i stay away and play pet healer. Alex does most of the pulling and is a better tank than me though we all fight toe to toe with the creatures (me, him and the warder).

Drops off Tunare, god of the plane of growth. I have had this weapon for 4 months now and i can tell you that casters absolutely hate monks with this weapon in duals. This thing procs all day long and other than a few high level mobs immune to the snare/root line of spells the weapon is great stats and damage delay. Two thumbs up verant, great weapon to add to the game!

Great stats, terrible proc. With higher lvl mobs and those that can't be rooted this is just an agro producer.

The proc is only a bad thing if your raid force doesn't understand how to manage aggro. In the first place your MT should be closest to the mob with everyone else attacking from as far back as possible. If you are following this rule root makes no difference other than guaranteeing aggro to the tank. In an exp group this is a dream too because it allows you to control aggro completely when it goes off, as long as your warrior understands how root works.

When you solo these would be good and you will always have agro anyway but i must agree with you. The proc wont work on some mobs and getting the agro when its an upper level mob would not be a good thing.

Agro on a raid should NEVER EVER be a problem for a monk, if you have this weap, chances are your MTs are gonna have hategivers or blades of carnage which will help them keep agro anyway, but it shouldn't matter if they are using jade maces, all you gotta do is FD during the fight and immediately get back up and start fighting again, that will keep you down low on the hate list.
