Shadows of LuclinWhy do monks use shields?
1. Roleplay - "the play's the thing to catch the conscience of the King." i.e. it's fun.
2. Tanking - happens very infrequently, but if I've got a mega melee mob I sometimes will use a lightweight, high AC shield just to wait for the dots to wear the mob down. Almost exclusively used when there isn't a War, Pal, SK, or *cough* Ranger around to tank.
2. Pulling - AC is nice for the attacks, esp if you can't pull far enough ahead to be out of range. But mostly, RESISTS!.

I remember when there were only a few shields with AC over 20..SBS, CCS and so on..now it seems like most of the shields that drop in Luclin are 20+AC...nice..well good hunting and safe journey to all.

Yep. And back then we didn't go porting around like you kids, either. We RAN to where we were going. Uphill. Through 3 feet of snow. Both ways.

HAHA yes i remember those days. Now I realize I have to get in with the things now a days :) I miss the old days of yelling for 2 hours in WC looking for a port to Qeynos or Stoneburnt or Butcherblock. :( And losing a lot of pp cuz of it but hey no more lol.

monks can use shields, for example: shield of rainbow hues

A shield is all/all? So monks or wizards can go around and use a shield if they want to?
Its self explanatory, all races and classes can use it in spite of what people think of class types normally equipping.

Yeah... offhand for wizards... ornate runed shield, shield of infused power, buckler of insight...
don't forget the INSANE Caster Only shield from Legends (those bast...)
