Unless you luck out and get all the pieces in the bazaar for a total of about 25pp, skip this. There are MUCH better items that are 1h. For those of you who are going to say that it's the roleplay aspect, BS, spend the time getting up tradeskills or grouping with guildies. The whole luclin line of quest armor was a feeble attempt to bridge the gap between planar and ToSRo/newbie armor.
Okay I have not been even playing for a year and I spent a lot of time just standing there healing and being on my tush while everyone got to fight. My skill level on my weapons and such was so bad that I would miss even hitting one of the lowest mobs out there. I have finally decided that its enough. I have a 42nd level Cleric with such bad skills it is horrible. I have decided to join in on the fun and have a few swipes at the mobs. If you are good enough at being a good cleric you know when to hit and when to back off and heal. I just got a Dark Ember and I love it I also have a CGS for the bashing. It works good as a combo. I plan on "battling" for a few more levels then giving it a rest. I need to max out my skills so that I won't look like a fool if I have to fight some. I have seen some very impressive battle clerics out there and that is what spurred me on to do this. If I could so this quest by myself I would do it. It does not appear to be that bad of a weapon. If you don't want it don't do it. But I think some of us just like doing the quests because it gives us something else to do besides sitting on our tushes watching the mana bar go up and down.
Ok, I'm an idiot. Since clerics can bash now. I figured I would practice. then accidentally sold it to a merchant. Is it my fault it looked just like a rusty hammer? Doh LOL Oh well. I will have to do this quest someday. Soon. Well at least I'm maxed at 175 in 1hb and 2hb now. bash is 140 too.
While in Crushbone someone gave it to me. I was about 10th level at the time, and have carried it ever since. I'm fairly new to the game, playing about a month and a half now. It's a cool looking hammer. Couldn't get a picture of it, servers down. And, from what I hear you talking about it. It's not that great. To me that doesn't really matter, It's his hammer so he'll keep it till he gets his epic. If you want to see it, send me a tell.
Unless you're doing it for Roleplaying reasons, it wouldn't be too good of an idea to keep it until you get your epic. If you understand that there are better combinations of gear out there, and you just want to use it because of looks, or out of some sentiment.. then go for it. But i'd keep an eye out for better gear if i were you.. it's not hard to find.
That said, i think that verant could vastly increase the desirability of the caster weapons across the board by just making them 1hb. Most 2h items that would make them over-powered.. but with the twilight items it would just bring them up to par with the other dropped/quested items at this level.
Although I agree there are better combonations, I don't think that means you have to worry that much about it. So I'm a couple points less in some stats. It is just a game and played for fun. Like the people that won't accept a 90% rezz. Come on. like 6% exp is gonna take a year to make up.
I agree, if you do things right you can fight as a cleric, especially at the higher levels! In fact, I'd go so far as to say that if you melee during your lower levels maybe you aren't being as much of a benefit as you could be to your group. (If you're not grouping, that's another story.) At lower levels you don't have enough mana (generally) to help your group with all the heals they might need in any situation. It's a fair occurence seeing clerics go out of mana at early levels. When you get up at the later levels you have such a great amount (generally) that with an enchanter handy and a magician with mod-rods you have plenty of time to do some fighting and still take care of your healing needs. Also, just for those of you who don't know about "battle clerics", they are the clerics who do nothing but battle in a group. With their stuns and a good, fast weapon they are good at wielding, they can actually keep the group from taking any damage while also dealing great damage themselves. Even as a 50+ cleric who focuses mostly on healing I find myself loading up with four or five stun spells and just having fun now and then. My group goes completely undamaged and most anything we battle against dies by the time I make one sweep through my stun spells. (And yes, even the lower level stuns spell land on higher level mobs. I've been quite surprised to see that the lower level spells tend to land more often, as well.) Whether a cleric is healing your damage, or keeping you from taking any damage, they still need to have a good mana pool. And so far I've not seen any 2hb weapons that make up for the loss of mana from losing a secondary item. Verant still needs to pull their heads out of their asses and make a 2hb that has at least HALF of the mana/wis combination you could get from having a primary and secondary item with wis on each that a cleric can use.
AND no I am not talking about the weapon, you people are disgusting. This site is for people who are looking for help or deceant advice the only thing most not all are capable of is bickering, complaining and being rude. None of the stats realy matter its not about what the item does something for your class or not. Its a medium item yes and there is much better out there, but as I said its not the point. Some people do this quest just to see the look, or to say they did it, or some people actulay go all the way through the quest to help others complete it. Stop complaining geez if its not your deal then dotn mess with it but go off on some poor guys just becuase he might have intrest in it, say your advice and help if you can but dont sit here and discourage someone let them come to there own conclusions. I still have the very first armor I quested for the whole complete set its a collectors item for me and let me tell yuo it sucks its one of the worst armor set quest you can do and I dont complain well not on here I dont in my room at home is a different story, point being somepeople just want to try let them know its not the best but simply leave it there dont go off on it ever heard the expression TMI. Go out and have fun and try to chill its a game and games usualy express some level of fun so get busy hehe take it easy or dont take it at all. Laters.
Well, when I first looked at this item, I said "Wow, finally something half decent that I can obtain easily until, or if, I ever get my epic!" But then I noticed it was 2hb... I mean come on, wtf is with that. I'd never use this to replace a Cone of the Mystics *and* a Sarnak Battleshield. But if it were 1hb, my cone of the mystics would be gone. Would have been a great item if it were 1hb, but Verant can't seem to figure stuff like that out. *sigh* :(
I Weild a Paw of Oppalla in primary and Testament of Vaneer in the other. At higher lvls you need resist stuff. If you are still melee after lvl 39 somethings wrong with you.Only weapon you should wield is something with plenty of stats on it and i don't mean damage vs delay.
I agree, but I say that if you are still meelee after 14 then there's something wrong. I have not meelee'd at all since 14 and neither have most of my higher level cleric friends. If you must meelee after that point, use or 1hb. If you use 2 hand blunt I will shoot you and then myself.
In my guild are a handful of clerics that I have sit and watched tank things like Lodi, Vindi, Frogs in OS and other things. It amazes me to see a healer tank better than a tank. I think it is awesome. My cleric carries a Shissar Battlehammer and a Blessed Grimling Shield until she can get to 51 and carry a Tae Ew Shield. All her melee skills are maxed so are the ones on my druid, who wields her epic and a Tae Ew Shield. All inspired by the kick *** clerics in my guild who are also dear friends. So if you want to be a boring cleric who sits on your can for the next 65 levels go for it. I for one, am going to keep mine meleeing all the way to 65.
No melee ater 14? C'mon.... I have a level 42 cleric and I melee CONSTANTLY! With a Shissar Battlehammer and a Charred Gaurdian.... I hit, bash, stun, and beg (yes, I beg the mobs). There have even been a few times doing this that I have managed to take aggro from the tank (not often mind you).
your obvisiously an idiot... most clerics don't melee because they are constantly down on their butts. Me i tend to get into groups where the tanks are smart and aggro is kept mainly on one person. At lv 55 i maxed my 1hb skill to a point where i can hit mobs consistantly. 40-50's normally. in an average 1 min long fight i can do about a 1k of melee dmg.. and save the group about 3 secs... and more importantly have FUN. think before u say a cleric that melee's past 14 is stupid. And guess what i have plenty of mana to spare incase the crap hits the fan...
Sorry, I just can't afford to equip a 2HB item. I need my lightsource. I'm HIE and I'm blind! And I get wis and other stats on both hands with 1HB and an offhand lightsource shield.
I wonder if Verant doesn't set up stuff like this to see how many really stupid Clerics are in the game?
You have a monitor problem, everything is darker than it should look. Turn up your gamma, then you will be able to see the game fine. High Elves have infravision the same as most other races, you shouldn't need a lightsource.
For some reason, Verant has had a long history of doing things like this with all caster classes. They refuse to see that the only way someone will give up two wis/int/mana items is if the 2-Hand item has *MORE WIS/INT AND MANA* (or at least just as much... sheesh).
To make it simple, if "2*1HB > 2HB" then take it back to the drawing board, please. =)
sorry... I completely disagree with people saying this isnt a bad weapon. This is crap for the quest it entails. For example... I wield a Centi Warhammer and a Charred Guardian shield... collective stats are
15/32 - 10 ac 11 wis 5 str 5 sta
so to wield this I would be gaining 3 dex, 2 poison, 10 hp, and 20 mana but losing 3 wis and 10 ac. Also getting a slower weapon to boot(not signifigantly so however).
I think anyone would agree that this is just one of the combos that would be tons better for a cleric, especially considering that you can get a CGS for around 100 pp and a Centi Warhammer for around 200 pp (Xegony pricing).
Bad choice of weapon styles, less than 5% of clerics use 2hb, making this quest very lame.
Any stats they threw on this item are pointless because you are probably giving up better stats in your offhand to equip this.
Do they forget you can buy a Centi Warhammer on just about any server for 300pp easily? That has a few wis/str/sta and a better damage ratio, oh ya, and it's 1hb also. Making this weapon worth about 50pp.
I guess this one is out of sheer curiosity. How do you get that only 5% of clerics use 2HB? Don't get me wrong, it doesn't strike me as that common of a skill, but slapping some number on there misrepresents it a bit. A lower-level cleric could always benefit from a weapon like this. The delay would keep aggro down, and the damage is nice for those times when a cleric has to go in. While less 45s may have a use for it, they make a decent twink weapon, or always sale fodder.
Now look at things like a batfang headband. That's something just worthless. (See Savant's Cap)
You say that this would be good for a low lvl cleric, and you would be right...but its not like this thing just drops off orc pawns or something, this is a fairly involved quest for a lvl 45ish character. Now why would a character go through all the trouble of completing this quest just so he could give it to some lvl 6 cleric in gfay??? Or even for his own twink, when he could easily buy a centi warhammer and a CGS for a relatively small amount of money and just give that to a twink? You also say it would be good for sale fodder...i hope you don't mean to sell to a merchant, who would probably give you something like 20plat for this item, when you could have probably made ten times that in the time it took you to do this quest.
Basically this item is worthless for the lvl it takes to get it, and from what ive seen of the twilight quests, most of them are similar. If verant wants us to quest over just farming items, why don't they try and make it a comparable alternative instead of giving us crap like this?
Doesnt really do much for a low lvl, too slow so you dont get enuf swings to be effective. Low levels are the only time it doesnt really matter if something keeps aggro low, specially when low lvl cleric armor is the exact same stuff as warriors have... Like stated elsewhere on this board, for about 300pp, you can get a centi warhammer, still not fantastic but better ratio than this, 1hb, about equivilant stats (seeing as this is 2hb as opposed to 1hb)...
