This is an awesome spear, although i dont have it myself, but i let the stats do the talking, i would jump on the offer it was rotting, this is definitely on my shamans wish list, although i will probably never get it,........one can only dream
This is an excellent spear for us Shamans that do not have their epic yet...geez. I don't know whay a shaman that does not have their epic would not want this.
This is the Netherbian Swarmlords only drop, other than the poison blade (also an ordinary drop for a mob like this), and for what you need to kill 1) to get him to spawn ( Netherbian Swarmcaller and about 20 Netherbian Ravagers) 2)the Netherbian Swarmlord himself (lvl 60 mob), this spear is rather lame. As with Jessy above the spear went to me (50 rogue) simply because none of the other rogues or shammies that were on the raid wanted it. In the future we will be dodging the swarmcaller to get to Tawro. The reward for killing the Netherbian Swarmlord ISN'T worth the reward.
My rogue was 52 when she got this spear.. Was she in a full group? Yes. Was she with her guild who are full of 60s? Yes. Does she have her epic yet? No, all i need is renux and the general, then she would have her epic. I was wielding duel bloodpoints when i received the spear, based on the fact that I was the only rogue there who didn't have their epic. And all the shamans there had their epics as well. Haven't had it resist me yet, and since the time that I received this spear, I've used it against Gorenaire and Talendor, dragons=magic, yes? Anyway, just my 2 cp =)

I don't see rogues ever using this fine spear. The level to obtain this thing is pretty high, and by that time, no rogue in his right mind would want a primary-only piercing weapon with a wimpy 9 damage on it. From everything I've seen, read, and experienced, raw damage is the primary focus for rogues on their primary piercing weapon, for the pure backstab potential.
However, since the weapon is NO DROP, I can understand some rogues looting it simply because there are no shaman around. I'd think that this spear would make a pretty nice item for working on trade skills. :)
Oops! I just realized that there was a damage modifier on this spear... +3 magic damage. Now if they really did fix the way these modifiers work, that would make this weapon 20 delay 12 damage for the purpose of backstabs. Not too shabby... but that extra 3 damage will always do a resist check, so it probably won't work much of the time. Personally, I would rather have a weapon with 12 raw damage, than a weapon with 9 raw damage and 3 damage that works some of the time. With this in mind, this spear still doesn't look terribly useful for high level rogues to use in combat. Please, correct me if I'm wrong. :)
Not only did you over look the +3 to magic damage...but you over looked the bonus of 11 damage making it a 23 damage 20 delay if the magic is not resisted ... if the magic is resisted it is a 20 20 weapon most of the time...as a Shaman I don't completely understand the damage bonus stuff ... but if that is added for the Rogues every time the weapon lands then it is uber sweet Backstabbing weapon. 20 damage normal with the backstab DAMN ... I would not want to be backstabbed with it
That's not quite the way damage bonus works. The magic damage is figured in right, but the damage bonus is an addition to the damage done, not the damage of the weapon. In example, this weapon has 9 damage meaning that the damage formula is 9x2+1 (for max damage). With the bonus, it becomes 9x2+12 because the bonus is additive instead of multiplicitive. I hope I didn't further confuse anyone.
Ok SilverWings that makes since .. but it does not add up .. as my warrior hubby has a Wurmslayer and is hitting for as high as 117 Non-crits. It is a 25 damage weapon, with no damage bonus. Sorry but just trying to understand ;(
added:
Also my 13 damage weapon with no bonus is hitting for 40 to 45 max damage.

I would agree that this isn't really a weapon most rogues would covet - most rogues of a level to help kill the mob it drops off would have Ragebringer, and the stats are very much tuned towards Shamen. If I was calling loot here, I'd give Shamen preference without a doubt - and I'm a rogue.
Hmmm, what mob drops this and what lvl, i can see "Netherbain Swa" on the screenshot. Looks like a shammy item to me cuz a rogue could have better piercers at this lvl and cant make use of the excellent 100 mana and 15 wis, assuming shammy doesnt have epic
