Geonid Collective

The shimmering geonids also are on this faction. Killing one drops your faction by -5.

I'm just curious. Is there any point to this faction? Besides doing the quest which basically just improves your faction, (the exp is pitifull) is there some kind of advantage to not being KOS by them?

WARNING: You must be indifferent to complete the part of this quest that gives you geonid faction. Do this before you ruin your geonid faction or you might have trouble ever getting it back!

Now, what you are really doing is the beginning of the phenocryst focus quest ( https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=931 ).

1) Find Normon Stonetooth down in the back of the caves in Thurgadin. Tell him "I will do a favor". He gives you an axe that needs sharpening.
2) Take the axe to Harkon in the shop across from the bank. He will also need "a small piece of velium" along with the axe. (Bonus! This step gives you positive Dain faction, a rare thing.) He sharpens the axe and gives it back to you.
3) Take the new axe back to Normon Stonetooth. Recieve an item called velium focus.
4) Go to Wakening Lands, and into the middle of the geonid caves where you will find a big geonid in the middle called Phenocryst. Give him the velium focus, and recieve positive "Geonid Collective" faction and a smidgeon of XP.

Notes: It is possible to do this quest if you have bad faction, probably not if you are KoS though. It is definetly difficult though, so it is best to "fix" faction in advance. If you will be killing geonid(s) then do this first up to at least amiable. Be careful to watch and stop killing when you are indifferent, and raise your faction again. By some very approximate measures, I believe this quest to "undo" the killing of 4 geonids.

How about this:

The Phenlychrist is lvl 58. Get a 60 Enchanter to charm him. At this point, the Phenlychrist assumes whatever faction the Enchanter possesses (Make sure you choose and enchanter that is at least indifferent to you). At this point, do the trade, click give, and then immediately port both you and the enchanter out of zone to drop both the enchantment and the aggro.

I killed nothing but Geonids from lvl 47 to lvl 48 ( thats alot of Geos ), and I'm still dubious to them. So not sure what all the talk is about Faction.

ok ppl there is a way to fix faction belibve it or not the aqua goblin wizards that pop out of the watter in BBm give geonid faction...the only problem is i have no idea where to find LOTS of aqua gobyyy wizzys...anyone know a place to find lots of them..

I was apprehensive to Geonid faction, and have repaired it. Heres how:

Normally everone starts out indiff to geonid collective. When you complete the 1st part of the quest and hand in the Velium Focus from thurg, your indiff faction goes up to aimable, which is required to complete the quest. However if you are apprehensive or dubious, you must do the 1st part of the quest (handing in the velium focus from thurg) several times (2 for me at apprehensive) until you are aimable. if you just hand the focus to him at apprehensive or dubious he will eat it obviously, you need someone to invis you while you have the focus in pheno's trade window, after you are invis'd /con and make sure your indiff, then click give, you gain faction with geonid collective.

Keep doing this until you are aimable, then say "How can I help you?" If he says hes unsure etc etc your not good enough faction, go back to thurg. If he talks about the stones then you are OK, and can give him the stones to trigger the giants.

I killed a few earlier on, w/o knowing about the Phenocryst Focus. My faction towards them last night was apprehensive.

First off, I did the beginning part w/ the axe a few times and confirmed it does NOT raise geonid faction.

Last night, I tried the part where you put the focus gem up in the trade window with Phenocryst, and then have someone invis you. That one try brought me up to indifferent. However, I still cannot do the quest because when I do that part again (normally w/o being invis'd) Phenocryst says something like they still are uncomfortable with me due to my vile ways (or something along that line.)

What faction do you need with them to do this quest? Do you have to be amiable with them? I'm assuming since I'm now indifferent, it's just like anyone else starting the quest for the first time w/o ever killing them, but it still doesn't work for me.

I also tried the invis/trade thing a second time, but lost the focus gem to Phenocryst and didn't get any exp, faction gain, or message from him. I'm guessing I clicked 'trade' 1 second too soon... right after I was invis'd. Has anyone else been able to do this again after they've become indifferent, AND, if so, were you then able to continue the quest?

PLEASE help... I really want to do this quest and hope I'm not permanently screwed. I was never Kos to them, just apprehensive and that one invis/trade brought me up to indifferent.

i'm a chanter and i finish this quest.i feel so easy about this quest. i had cast allience on geonid it work !!!

you can kill a lot of them and you are able to "repair" your faction! but you have to keep an eye on it that your faction standing dont come threatengenly. but to con threatengenly last long. i killed quiet a lot and they were doubiously. then i did the first part of the quest 4times and now iam amiably 8). i think your faction raises one step every time u do the first part of the quest.

if you do the phenocryst focus quest, at least the first part, you can continousl raise faction
