Located on the eastern edge of Odus, one can make their way to the Barren Coast through a passage in Toxxulia Forest.

Four docks are found along the coastline where the ships Ravaging Death, Isabeau, Wind Dancer, and Bloodcrest dock. Purchase a ticket from one of the dockmasters and hop on board to sail to your destination (you have your choice of islands within the Buried Sea).

As the waters offshore are infested with sharks, one would not be advised to swim too far off the coast. The mainland is fairly volatile as well with hordes of undead, crocodiles, basilisks, snakes, and pirates. The Blacksail Smuggler encampment is generally safe, as the few creatures which choose to wander around there are quickly dispatched by the Freetide guards.

OK i see most of these posts are quite old but this is my take on this zone. I came here the other night on my lvl 46 Druid with merc tank. Everything on track was yellow or red. The mobs are not social unless you are attacking 1 of their own and they will join in. I left the Slither Queen alone as i felt she might be trouble and was very red. Loot was not bad but exp was horrible. In Maidens Eye on a yellow she would get 3-4 bubs exp while here with a yellow she might get 1 bubble. I did try pulling 1 of the Kerran Gorillas as i had a quest and 2 came and they were not dying very fast at all but my journeyman merc was so we headed for the zone line and they were on my tail all the way. However i did notice of all the mobs in the area straight out and to the right of zone in they all conned amiable to me. This remained even after i had killed for nearly 2 hours.

As you enter from Toxx the camp is straight at the end of the path. Sells water but no food, merc guards to kill off the rare add if you pull improperly , and vendor junk drops in the 5-40pp range. To the left as you enter is the lower level mobs (51 ish) with a few higher sewn into the crowd to keep you on your toes. To the right their 1-3 levels higher but the same mobs, just different sub-types. This is a great grinding area. At the end of each section is a camp, one of undeads and one of gorillas which are still red at 54 and the guards wont help you if a soggy corpse is whuppin you. I didnt pull a gorilla from the other camp to see if applies to them also.
All in all .. I like it. Easy access from Toxx without having to sneak past any hellspawn . The only loot you may want to carry home is the occasional defiant gear piece . Tickets are free from the gnome on the boxes to travel to wherever and he will buy the loots . Little warning: I took the boat to buried sea and some black cougar , very red to me and sitting on the dock ramp, chased me all over the beach till the boat came back. I didnt have a return ticket but it dumped me back at the beach anyways 8) .

Tried this zone with my 55 druid, had kei and virtue + sd and with 3800ish mana i never had any problems, i used clicky arms as well for drones of doom, mobs do have a bit of hp.

I killed a few snakes and basilisks, resisted first snare most of the times but with soe no problem, root is resisted a bit but seem to last okey.

Made 1% regular xp or 5% aa from a blue kill.

The wandering freewind mercenary kills the mobs if she gets to close, seen her hit for 630.

Made 202pp here with my 64 mage in ~5 kills from loot.

Are there minimum level requirements in the Burning Sea? I noticed there are a bunch of Islands and what are possibly instanced zones as well.

I'm thinking of buying this expansion, but not if I can't get in here to look around. My main is lvl 51 btw.

Thanks in advance for the reply.

well, you CAN zone into the majority of the TBS zone at 51, but you won't be able to accomplish much of anything at that level.

ALL of the TBS zones are 'intended' for players of at least level 65, most are intended for lvl 70+ players. Barren Coast is the lowest level zone, the lowest level mobs are about level 50. Barren Coast also offers some quests.

the buried sea zone is for 65-75 lvl players and has a ton of quests (group and solo). In my opinion i would say that you won't be very active in this exspansion till you are level 70 or so.
Kiting doable but...not great
# Feb 22 2007 at 10:26 AM Rating: Decent
My 64 Druid has found quad kiting do-able, if she is careful. She has only tried the crows and the saltwater crocs...crows seem easiest.

Her method is to know the pathing, so as not to bring on aggro from other mobs, This has been done in the area not far from the zl to Toxxula forest.

The Mercenaries will attack the animal MOBS soo...if you can run near them to get some mobs off your back OR keep away from them so they dont steal your kill...

Actually, she would prefer grouping...but Ãs often the only person in this zone, and if not, the only person below 74...

And, charming pets works well too...

BV

EDIT: Ignore the note below.. I think now I must have been using an AOE damage spell and Locke was hit by " friendly fire" and got pissed off. I never had the problem again. HOWEVER: look out for the monster EBONDRAW. Information is available in the Mobs found in Barren Coast section....

QUICK NOTE: Better not to bring aggro into the Merchant area because Trophy Hunter Locke, a level 80 NPC, will attack you. He hits for about 1100.

Maybell does not summon. She was dark blue to 65 and her max hit seemed to be around 600-700. Casts (not procs, there's actually a casting message) Knockback.

Your heart skips a few beats. You have taken 400 points of damage.
You are stunned!

This Zone looks like a good zone for 55 - 60 fear kiting, lots of blue animal mobs at 55, ideal IMO for rangers and druids.

There's not so many animals, ie rats there are not... In addition, different species assist each other. Better idea is to charm one of the animals and use against undeads.

I have had some success with back-and-forth kiting over near the pirates/pirate ship area, where no animals seem to go. As a Ranger, you have to pull your prey over with an arrow shot or a Snare, but it's pretty safe once you do.

#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 14 2007 at 5:48 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'm not sure if fear kiting would be all that good since mobs of the same type are social. But, a ranger (and I'd assume druid) are not KOS to the wandering beach trash like crows, snakes, crocs, and basilisks. I can pull a bloodeye crow past anything except for other crows, without adds.
