This solo task begins with Farwhendle Higglespout in Barren Coast at approximate location -280, -120.
You say, 'Hail, Farwhendle Higglespout' Farwhendle Higglespout says 'Well hello there! Isn't this a fine day? Smell that sea air! I love that smell. Why, if I didn't get sick whenever I stepped aboard a boat I'd be out there right now watching the waves and the people that ride them. It's all so exciting! I love the sea and everything about it. In fact, if you are interested, and you don't get seasick, perhaps you could [do a few things] for me. If not, then maybe you'd like to [hear a few tales] about the Buried Sea.' You say, 'I can do a few things for you.' Farwhendle Higglespout says 'Just a few simple things that a small gnome like me can't do.' You are offered two tasks, one of which is 'Logs, Journals, and Diaries, Oh My!'. You have been assigned the task 'Logs, Journals, and Diaries, Oh My!'. Farwhendle will pay you nicely for text written by sailors or other people while at sea. Collect 1 Diary of a Mutiny (Barren Coast) This drops from the rogue pirates located in the southwest corner of the zone. Collect 1 Journal of a Blacksail (Barren Coast) This drops from the Blacksails in the pirate cave north of the camp with Farwhendle along the shore. Collect 1 Waterlogged Book (Barren Coast) This drops from the undead south of the camp with Farwhendle. Deliver 1 Diary of a Mutiny to Farwhendle Higglespout. (Barren Coast) Deliver 1 Journal of a Blacksail to Farwhendle Higglespout. (Barren Coast) Deliver 1 Waterlogged Log Book to Farwhendle Higglespout. A Waterlogged Log Book drops from the undead south of the quest giver camp. Saw a bunch while hunting the skeletons for undead mariner skulls.
A Journal of a Blacksail drops from the the blacksails in the pirate cave north of the quest giver camp, along the shore.
A Diary of a Mutiny drop from the rogue pirates located in the SW corner of of the zone.
All three seem to have a fairly high drop rate, and I found a ton while working on various tasks and generally hunting in the Barren Coast. Only note of caution is to watch out for general aggro since most things are aggressive, and its easy to end up with 3 or 4 mobs before you realize it.
Steps 4, 5, and 6 are as follows:
