    This group mission is the third in a series of five. It begins with Mer (click for map image) in the Barren Coast at approximate /location -190, -45.

    Pre-requisites for Requesting:
    - Completion of "Mer's Lost Love"
    - Completion of "Piecing Things Together"

    Upon completion of the previous task, you saw:

    Mer says 'This is wonderful news! If the sirens took Renne captive, then he must have or know something that they want. We must [find out] what that is!'

    You say, 'What can we find out?'

    Mer says 'If we can discover what it is the sirens are after, perhaps we can make a trade. It is a shame about the rest of Renne's crew, you must [tell Jor].'

    You say, 'I will tell Jor'

    Mer says 'He may have more information on these sirens and what they may be after.'

    You have been assigned the task 'The Grim News'.

    Mer is distressed to learn of the demise of Renne's crew, but the fact that he was taken captive disturbs her. Seek out more information on Renne's dealings with the sirens and find a way to uncover his fate.

    If you hail her again to request, you see:

    Mer says 'If we can discover what it is the sirens are after, perhaps we can make a trade. It is a shame about the rest of Renne's crew, you must [tell Jor].'



    Speak to Jor 0/1 (Barren Coast)

    Head over to the pirate caves in the northeastern part of the zone (along shore). Jor (click for map image) is in the back of first cul-de-sac on the left, after the main cavern. He is surrounded by KOS pirates.

    You say, 'Hail, Jor'

    Jor says 'Ah, make it back did ya? Any word on Renne and [his crew]?'

    You say, 'Well, about his crew...'

    Jor says 'Slaughtered by sirens ye say? Those blasted wenches! I've had enough of our ships disappearin' into some strange fog only for the crew to be devoured alive. Tis no death for a pirate. [Revenge] must be had!'

    You say, 'Revenge?'

    Jor says 'Kill them, kill them all, then kill them some more! Those tricky urchins won't know what hit them. Bring me siren heads and I'll run 'em up on a pike meself! Heck, if we kill enough of 'em we just may figure out what causes them to carry out these depraved deeds. Blast it.'



    Purchase tickets to Maiden's Grave and catch the boat (Barren Coast)

    Dockmaster Weatherby says 'You look like you've been at sea on a dangerous mission for a while? Perhaps you plan to head back out, in which case you're going to need to purchase another ticket before boarding the Isabeau.'

    Buy a "Seafarer's Ticket: Monkey Rock" from any of the Dockmasters along the coastline and keep it in your inventory. When the ship docks, step onto it and wait for it to sail out to the Buried Sea. Upon zoning, you'll find yourself in an instanced version of the island. (Next to you is a rowboat that serves as your zone-out.)



    Slay as many sirens as you can 0/30 (Maiden's Grave)

    Loot 10 siren heads 0/10 (Maiden's Grave)

    Rescue the sailors of the Scurvy Flea 0/1 (Maiden's Grave)

    Once you've killed 30 sirens (it doesn't matter where you are on looting Siren Heads), you see this emote:

    A loud crash echoes across the island. It sounds like a ship crashed into some rocks near the south edge of the island.

    A ship appears at the zone-in and runs aground. Here, there will be several "a panicked sailor" surrounded by about 10 sirens. Kill the sirens to complete update this step.



    Return the siren heads to Jor 0/10 (Maiden's Grave)

    Near the zone-in area is a rowboat that you can click to port you back to the Buried Sea:

    You get into the longboat and row out. You are quickly picked up by one of the many merchant ships sailing the waters of the Buried Sea and delivered safely to the dock on Jardel's Hook...

    Head back to Jor in the Barren Coast and hand in the 10 siren heads:

    Jor says 'Mighty fine job ye did now, didn't ye? I'll get these saw-faced ladies up on pikes in no time at all. Ah, and ya know? I had a bit o' an epiphany whilst you was gone. On this particular voyage Renne was out collectin' shipping line information. Kind of an up and up job for a pirate it was. See, pirates don't really share their information with one another. The captain's all be competin' and all. Maybe those sirens wanted to get ahold of those notes, see when and where the ships would be comin' from, ya know?'



    Take word of Jor's suspicions to Mer 0/1 (Barren Coast)

    Return to Mer, and hail her:

    You say, 'Hail, Mer'

    Mer says 'Shipping line information? That's all they're after? I really don't see the cause to go slaughtering the very people that are holding my love hostage! What if they decide to kill him now? If they do I swear I will slay Jor myself! You must go back at once and attempt to [reason] with them.'

    Mer is horrified that Jor would request a siren slaughter and now fears for Renne's life, should he prove to still be alive. She has come up with a different tactic.

    Return to Jor and inform him of the crews fate.

    (Jor is in the pirate cave... you can hail him invis, following along will require dropping invis and aggro of nearby pirates... following along is not required)

    Loot 10 siren heads

    (random siren drops)

    Rescue the sailors of the Scurvy Flea.

    (A ship will appear at the zone in, run aground. There will be several "A Panicked Sailor" surrounded by 10-ish Sirens... kill the Sirens for this step)

    Return the siren heads to Jor

    (clear in to do this... or, I just handed them in taking the hits and then ran off aggro)

    Take word of Jor's suspicions to Mer.

    This mission was hard. As an 83 Ranger with Merc healer some Sirens can be Headshotted with HS 12, but after like 2 hours I still needed 1 Siren head and gave up.

    I guess the RNG was against me last night

    I tried again and won . Took me about 3 hrs with merc and bot mage. Mage made it nice to split final 11 Sirens. Last group of five were tied together so I was able to burn them down.

    Step 2: Jor can be hailed while invis.

    Step 3: On killing your 30th Siren, 10 or 11 new sirens spawn near the zone-in, along with 5 sailors and a very impressive looking shipwreck. A new quest step 5 is revealed, "Rescue the sailors". You do *not* want to be near the zone-in when this happens. Inland, towards the center of the island seems safest.

    Step 4: The siren heads drop from any siren on the island. Drops seemed to be rare initially, with drop frequency increasing as you neared the 30th kill. On 3 attempts at this, 10 heads took 31, 34 and 33 siren kills respectively, although after 20 kills we never had more than 3.

    Step 5: The 10 or 11 sirens that pop along with the shipwreck need to be killed. They do not return to their spawn points if moved, but cannot simply be trained away, kills are needed to do this step. Most of them see invis. Aggro was odd - on several occasions we found all would aggro the group and rush us for no good reason. Once all the guards are dead, the task step is done.

    Step 6: Return 10 Siren heads to Jor. This step cannot be done invis.

    Step 7: Return to Mer with news of your success.

    Reward is 40 doubloons and faction, as per the previous missions in this arc.

    Quest 4 in this arc is entitled "If you can't beat 'em, bribe 'em".

    Say "rescue" to Mer to begin this task. You will be given a "diamond encrusted mirror".

    Step 1: Take the boat to the instanced Maidens Grave island.

    Step 2: Find a Siren who will speak to you (level 75 named Siren, very near the zone-in)

    Step 3: Bribe the siren with the mirror

    Step 4: Kill 20 undead sialors

    Step 5 (optional): Do not kill 4 sirens

    Step 6: ???

    Step 5: We found that 5 of the mobs are linked with a short delay. For us it was four plaguebringers and a tormentor. We ended up kiting them around to kill them as it was just two of us, with one bot each.
