One of the best places I have found to Level with no adds. If you go into the tunnels from WW side, you will come up to a juntion where if you go straight you go to LOIO but going left or right leads to a cave with three of these Brutes.
They are far apart enough to single pull by simply walking up to them and smacking them. Once you clear the room, turn around run to the other end of the juntion and hit three more. By the time you finish. the previous cave will repop and the fun will begin again. I made 3 Levels alone there and with the various gems and loot it is also very profitable. Most people pass right through the tunnels either heading to LOIO or WW and they have no idea of the experience they are missing out on.
The main reason I came looking for these guys is because they are the ones that will drop ivory (Halfling Culture Quests), I am at level 30 and I still receive pretty decent experience for these guys(some dark blue, some light). For a Ranger the key to taking these guys is to Harmony the ones you don't want to fight, and then hit the one you want with stinging swarm. If you have been working on your melee skills (which you should always be-you are a modified tank btw) they go down pretty easily. Now to quicken the kills use your Flame Arrow to hit them once (113 dmg), then hit them with your ignite spell (its quicker). If you get more than one on you, hit the first one with the stinging swarm and one flame arrow and let the stinging swarm work him down, while you switch to the other guy and start swinging and kicking him and then hit him with ignite. When you take down the one without the stinging swarm, switch to the other one and cast snare, you don't want him running into the room and agroing the other one. You can take three at 30, but you have to be quick on the ignite, I usually wait till one hits me and then cast, less chance of being interrupted. (A note: watch out when you back out of the room after you hit one, there may be a guy standing right in the crossroads, this is certain disaster for a 30 if you pulled the 3 out of the room, so don't back out to far). The items that I have found on the brutes are as follows: Flame Agate Mithril Earrings Ivory Amber Brute Hide HQ Brute Hide Ice of Velious Gold Rings Jade Jade Earrings Pearl they drop as little as 1cp (lol, couldn't believe this one) to as much as 3 and a half plat. They average about 8gp.
On the Maelin server, this zone is basically empty which are what most zones are on this server other than POK and the Bazaar (who are they selling too? lol, anyone on that server is pretty much selling things in the bazaar, good for the solo guys and gals)
By the way, I am a heavy solo player, with a group, these brutes should be cake for any low 20 group of about 4.

JFYI... A ranger's 2 best friends (if a druid's not already doing it): Flame Lick/Immolate & Snare/Ensnare
Flame Lick/Immolate lowers your opponents AC & increases the chance other spells won't be resisted.
Snare/Ensnare slows your opponent's movement speed & attack speed. After snaring, back up & you'll have plenty of time to cast whatever other spells you need to. & the sooner you snare, the slower they hit & the less times you get hit by them. Snare only lasts 03:54 iirc & may need to be cast twice... until you get Ensnare which lasts a good 14 minutes.
Jesus, ok last time... after about half a lvl at 26, on top of what i already listed i also recieved "gold ring"s, "jade earring"s, a "rune of xegony", a "rune of expulsion", pg. 390 of tasarin's grimoire, and jade. i have not found any "words" or spells, this may be an update or just the server im on... anyway im done reporting loot... suprise yourself and check it out,.... maybe you'll find the diamonds
your correct about argo range. My son has been soloing WW for couple levels now. Just dinged 27 and now over a 3rd of the giants are light blue or green. The Brute are still all dark blue so i guess this will be where he will get too level 29.
The static near Delnir should be pulled too zone cause of the raomer. 2 at a time with DMG shield they drop ok. Deffently getting easier each ding.
Just a heads up to anyone camping the brutes in the two static rooms, the agro range was increased with the last patch.
In the room with 2 brutes, if you attack one, they will both attack. In the room with 3, attacking the middle one will pull all 3, but if you attack the one on the right (looking in from the entrance) from the right side of the room, it will only pull the middle one as well.
Hope this helps, so you aren't surprised like I was by the higher agro range.
I am confused...and angered. Why did they change the agro? I am a wizard on CT and have just started playing again after 2 years. I came to Warslik's for some soloing and now get attacked by both when I try to attack one brute...how am I to solo them now?! I cannot root both side by side and wizards do not get their snare spell until 27 or so. Why do they keep nerfing and f-ing up wizards? WTF people?!?! Last time I made it from level 24 to 26 soloing these guys, now it's just hopeless.

/agree that these critters KOS now. However, even though the aggro radius is relatively small, they are large enough in size where there is no way to avoid them if you bump into one while traversing the tunnels without invis. So if you manage to get to one of the two static rooms, be aware you might have to fight your way out if you don't have gate or invis/camo.
I've been hunting here with my 26 necro and they are usually about 2% XP per kill (occassionally 1%). Since they run at 20% health, soloing the static spawns in the rooms is much easier if you have root, know the pathing, or are good at crowd control. Or you could just take the wandering ones. My understanding is you can get good xp up to around 29, then it drops off til 31.
These things hit for up to 52, so best bet is to DD after debuff and slow and not to let pet tank too much. Luckily, they can be taken down relatively quickly, provided they do not get lost in the walls (yes, the tunnels are still a pathing nightmare). You can also pull the wanderers from the tunnel and fear kite from outside. Keep the mob in view the entire time--if you lose sight of them in the tunnel, they may be bugged by the time you exit (invisible and potentially invulnerable, but still able to hit you). I was able to pull to the most northwest part of the zone by the water without wandering goblin or exiled iksar adds, though they do occassionally path near the east side of the tunnel entrance.
Not a lot of players usually in the zone, but if there are may want to watch for wandering giants also.
Ok so these guys do Aggro now if you get VERY close to them and they do not add in unless you practically run them over. I did this place with a lv 20 Beastlord and a 14 cleric and we had no problem. Pull to the far side of the room and clear the wanderers first and you should have no worries. They do run at 20% so once you learn the path they flee on then you are golden. Should anything go wrong Dalnir's is a hop skip away. Two rooms with 3 in one and 2 in the other and 2 wanderers. Good Hunting
I am currently soloing the Brutes with my lvl 26 Gnome Mage. (They look huge fomr my Gnome's point of view!) The Loot is great - I got 40pp in coins and gems in 3 hours and filled 3 yellow bulbs. My Earth Pet runs in, roots the Brute and runs interference while I blast with Shock of Blades. This seems to be a forgotten or unknown area on my server (Maelin Starpyre) as I haven't seen anyone there so far.
Another trick I have learned is to bind affinity in front of bank in PoK. When my buffs dry up (SoW, KEI, etc.) it's an easy gate back, sit and med and invariably someone comes along and casts some MGBs (either in front of bank or at Nexus Stone). Then I run back to the Overthere stone (after selling stuff to PoK merchants) and it's a quick run back to WW - picking off a stray forest giant occassionally.
I'll have to pick up some more research components for my downtime in these caves....
The regular brute hides sell for no more than 4P in the bazaar if you find a buyer. However the HQ pelts can easily be sold fo 90P in bazaar as they are for high end halfling cultural armor. I've made anywhere from 3-700P per level off of these alone.
As other people have said on this list, these things provide fantastic XP and fairly decent loot. I soloed these things with my Iksar Shaman from about 22 through 30, and it was a blast doing so. To be clear, I am only referring to the brutes in Warsliks Woods near the entrance to Dalnir, and can not speak for any other brutes in any other part of Warsliks Woods, or any other zone for that matter.
Here was my strategy: 1) Bind right near the entrance to Dalnir 2) Buff myself as much as possible, in particular making sure to have SoW on 3) Find a brute and root it 4) Cast debuff and resistance lowering spells 5) Dump as many DoT spells onto it as possible 6) Sit down and meditate 7) Re-root and go back to step 5 8) Loot corpse
Things to note: o Always keep track of how to quickly get to the Dalnir zone line, as it is the lifeline if you get into trouble. o As other people have said, the pathing in this area is broken, and so brutes can vanish and still have the ability to beat on you with no chance for retaliation. This is why it is important to keep the DoT spells on the brute, as he will die over time even if he has vanished. If you do find that a brute has vanished, zone ASAP to clear your aggro list, as he will be back to slap you around once he heals a bit. o Again as others have said, brutes don't aggro, so you don't need to worry about crowd control, that makes the soloing process possible. o Do not rest in Dalnir. Instead rest right by the zone line to Dalnir, as that is an extremely safe place. o Another advantage of spending a decent amount of time here is that groups tend to go through to Dalnir, and you can often join them for some ad hoc exploits.
Please note that my only experience with this strategy is with a Shaman. My thought is that it would work well for other classes that can root and demolish, with those that can do DoTs being able to leverage this strategy the most effectively.
I've been playing a bard recently, and I have to say, these guys are easy and good exp at levels 27 to 30 (I'm 29, still getting half a blue per kill, prolly still be ok till 31 or so)
You charm one (with flute equipped) and sic it on another, back off as far as the walls allow, and let the song keep playing. target the one you are killing so as to send your pet back fast if he breaks charm. (easy with the new pet box). When pet has killed off your target, wait for charm to break then snare-fearkite the erstwhile pet.
If the pet is dieng too fast, break charm (using hide or invis song) just as it's about to die, and charm the other one.
one word of warning, don't let them run into the walls, they will attack from under the world.
My lvl 27 Necro (soon to be 28) has been camping the Brutes for a couple days now. Started at lvl 26 so have moved up nicely and the loot isn't terrible. They drop a variety of gems, not just pearls.
I made about 30pp one night and 23pp the next time I played. The spawn rate is about 7 minutes each.
So the way I worked it, I killed one, then just about the time I am FM and Pet is FH, I took the other one down. So it works out to be about 3-4 min wait for each one to come back.
There are TWO rooms of Brutes, I usually only camp the 2 spawn, tried the 3 spawn a couple times but the disappearing Brute trick almost got me killed, so have stuck to the TWO spawn since then.
I use HEAT BLOOD, DARKNESS, FEAR, POISON, and TAP until done. Spells usually stick, resist seems to be more often on FEAR but Pet seems able to draw the aggro quick enough to keep me from getting pummeled to badly.
Try to keep them in the OPEN area as much as possible, if your FEAR drops don't panic, let them come back to you as close as you can before you TAP them down, the wall problem seems to be in one or two spots only.
Hmmm, I've been camping these for quite a while now, and the spawn rate is nearly exactly 15 minutes, not 7. Still, they are good XP and fair loot. I plan on staying with them untill 29 or so.
I didn't explain myself very well, meant that if you split the spawn, you will have about 7 min spawn rate between the 2 room spawns.
ALSO, they have changed in a recent patch, they WILL aggro you now, doesn't seem to happen very often, you have to get really close for it to happen but did happen two or three times in the past couple days.
When did they start aggroing on people? Also when did they get a higher magic resistance? I have hunted these guys with 3 other toons and NEVER had them resist 8 roots in a row, plus totally resist a 24th lvl dd before.
there is enough room in the chambers in the tunnel to dalnir to kite these as a druid, just run laps around the oval shaped room that they spawn in and nuke at each end. excellent exp off of these until about 30 after that id go hunt elsewhere....maybe golras
update: since these were made to aggro im fairly certain that method this will no longer work.
just 1 question do these things drop words??? im a 29 necro so i think i could solo these pretty easily but i just wanted to kno if they droped words before i go and hunt them.
These brutes are very good exp all the way to Level 35. I started hunting them when I learned about them and the best thing is that they do not aggro nor assist each other. In the tunnels Leading to the Crypt of Dalnir there are 2 locations. One tunnel with three and one with two. Usually have great loot from hides for Tailoring to Topaz gems for jewelry making. Even at my Level they still conned white and blue to me.
#Anonymous,
Posted:Aug 06 2001 at 1:30 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i found these at lvl 25 and im a monk, i kill them with ease and get crazy exp of them. i will stay until lvl 32 or so. oh yea! when they go into the wall and disepear... FEIGN DEATH!! HOW DUMB ARE YOU? they dont argo AT ALL, so FEIGN DEATH and be done with it. DUH
At least this 22 Trollie SK can <grins>. I'm talking about the ones that wander the zone. They wander about, but I seem to find them just north of the Overthere entrance. They do NOT seem to resist our DoTs but do hit often enough that my fear usually gets interupted. I loose about 3 bubbles of health. Grishnakia Deesmakia 22nd TSK, Brell
"Fear will sometimes cause them to run into the walls, ceilings, or floors where they are unseen but can still hit you. You can cast on them, but they won't take any damage. "
Ran into this last night, even a 52 monk that was trying to help could not save me from the floor beast. (I'm trying to decide whether to go back...xp and loot were both good for me at 27th level, but very scared of another fluke death)
what happehs is they get trapped under the world and stay argoed at who ever attacked them b4 this became trapped zoning is bout the only way to get em off FD maybe..but after argo is cleared they will repop at there spawn spot
It is rather hard to solo as a magician at level 32. Your pet dies quickly, your dd spells are rather whimpy, and mana quickly drains away.
I was surprised to find that some of these Apes still provide pretty decent experience at level 32. Some still con blue (low) while even some of the greens still give experience.
For a magician who finds it tough to group (the good groups rightly go for level 34 mags with their far superior DD's) these can be a blessing.
