Spawn time for these guys on Al Kabor server is 19 minutes 15 seconds. Timed it while camping VT shard.

Yeah they drop the Shards, and quiet common too.
Also the usual runes, and acrylia (small/large/block and black one).
If it drops a dirty weapon take it - sells for more than 100p.
They pure melees, and make nice Chanter pets since they can dual wield with 2 weapons given to them :)
Speeded and equipped he alone takes out other L55+ mobs in less than a minute.

This is the only mob that drops the shard, the mob is in the upper part after you click the statue.

It drops the lucid shard if you're doing the quest to obtain the key into Vex Thal.

The Sanctum Bloodguards are the primary source of VT shards in this zone, can get one to spawn at the AC zone in if you feel like waiting a while, or just warp into Inner AC via Clicking the Statue of Khati Sha, the Sanctum Bloodguards are plentifull here, ive gotten up to 4 shards in an hour soloing these
