For those interested in taking these down for their loot (yeah, most of it is crap, but a ranger is hard pressed to find decent plate-graphic pants anymore!), a 65 ranger/shaman duo had no trouble with these guys. The hardest part was pulling them single without innate camo...patience and cloudy potions are your friend. :) With LR5 (but no other defensive AAs) their DPS was only about 55 or so, which is exactly what Quiescence + Replenishment can mitigate. so yes, no heals were required other than Quiescence. I mostly resisted their fear, and in case they did land, I stuck myself in a corner so I was feared into the wall. I'll post back whenI can say how many of these chumps I had to kill to get my greaves. :/
How many mins are needed to kill the 4DM and to make DS pop? Think we tried them in less than 6 mins yesterday, and DS never poped !! And when the countdown begins? at first hit on pull? Thx for info...
Gotta kill all 4 inside of 20 minutes to spawn Doomshade, if he's spawnable. If you fall behind it's no big deal, they just respawn (and make you kill them again). So basically, it's 4 mobs, with a 20 minute respawn, all of which have to be down for Doomshade to pop (plus Doomshade has to be due).
Also note there is always a dramatic pause before Doomshade pops that makes you wonder "Were those guys really just chanting?"
I suppose something that might help would be having the melee's take down the rune (with Cleric healing of course) and before anyone else starts putting other spells on it, just have one or two casters cast the heavy cancel magics on it(or even some of the hybrids - they can cast cancels too)... Then just start pounding on it with Malo's, DoTs and DDs after that - all the while, Melees would be taking far less extraneous damage from the DS.

I parsed one of these to what kind of damage they dish out and their approximate HP. We did 52,135 in melee damage. This does not take into account dots/DD from our shaman and cleric or dot procs from weapons so the mob definately has more than 52k... probably around 60k. The DM dished out 27,911 damage, 23k on our MA and 2k on our bard that took the rampage damage and the rest being on the other party members. It took us 426 seconds (7 minutes) to bring the sucker down since our DPS was a bit low.
Our group was 60 war, 60 bard, 60 shm, 59 cle, 55 rog, 54 pal. Just keep the MA healed and you should be good to go. The MA need 6 complete heals from the cleric; the sham did patch heals to the rest of us. I didn't get hit once the whole fight but I was still taking damage so I'm assuming they can have a damage shield. I was down to 60 health before realizing how much health I was losing so I switched over to fungi. With the fungi and shm regen I was able to stay around 60% for the rest of the fight. Any class that duel wields and attacks will get nailed with some damage. The bard and paladin weren't taking much damage from the DS.
Max hit seems to be 195, min 56. Most of the hits being 62 dmg (42 times). The DM hit for max 20 times.
At the start of the fight the DM had a rune so save your disciplines a little bit later. As mentioned, they are immune to speed type spells (snare/slow). If you can land cripple early, it definately helps.
edit: took down another and turned damage shields on and got the message "you have been tormented" so there's definately a DS. Cleric pet went down after ~ 2 minutes or so.
a few Dark Masters dropped some bard songs the other night, one being Song: Dreams of Ayonae, a lvl 58 bard mez with mem blur. Every bard 58+ I spoke with needs this spell, and some thought it only dropped in SSRA. just adding it so people know the song can be found in UP too. The other song dropped I can't recall.
was fighting them today in umbrals plain with a group of 6 56+s damn they have alot of hit points...but the part that would make me laugh is when they would fear me..and i would run away.but when i came out of it .I was back at camp and the Monster running back. But aye sorta a long fight but the exp sure is nice

Last night he dropped the level 56 Paladin spell, Breath of Tunare. No armor, though. We took him down with a 53 Paladin tanking, 56 Cleric, 55 epic Druid, 60 epic Ranger, 59 Chanter and 60 epic Monk. He can't be slowed and was hitting me from 64s to 196s. Never broke 200 on a single hit.
guys lets end the level discussion, theyre all 58-60. Being a paladin i get hired often to slay undead in UP when im /LFG mode. I use to think they were all 60, but i remember being 60 and them being blue, and being 59 and being blue, but always even and higher at 58.
Things may have changed a bit since these posts...but, since i started playing in UP, i have yet to either con or see on track any Assasins that con lower or higher than 55, and i have been there for about a week. I can't be 100% sure of the Masters, but a fellow guildy said that the 4 that we were taking down all conned even to him, and he was 60
I was the puller for these mobs tonight and I can confirm for fact that all Dark Masters are lvl 60. I was able to pull every one as a single using extreme caution to avoid getting Dark Assassin adds. They do not hit all that hard but you can not snare / slow / stun them at all. We were able to do them quite easily with me (59sk), 60enc, 60bard, 58cleric, 60rogue and 56 rogue. We got a few spells including jolting blades and purifying chorus and we also got one armor drop. It was a Dark Master bracer. 12ac and a few small stats, nothing real fantastic. It went to an alt camped there.
These are like all high level mobs, some will see through invis, some won't. Same with the DAs some see through invis, some don't, depending on their level.
some of these do see invis, and they have a huge aggro range, i was about to pull zelinith and one of these guys was off in the distance not to far but still quite aways, didnt bother conning thought none saw invis, next thing i knwo hes charging for me like a mad ape luckly i hadnt pulled anything yet so i dragged it back to our pull spot where our group of 6 quickly dispatched him
ERRG These are MEAN. They're also in Maiden's Eye on the other side of the Umbral Plains zone. I was there with a another guild raiding Umbral Plains, and it ended abruptly, I was gonna camp in ME. So I zoned, Walked to where I thought I should be, and 3 of these come upon me. Didn't see them quick enough and they started moving towards me, I'm thinking oh crap Death's after me (cuz that's what they look like). I started to turn around and got hit with a 645 HT. About that time I started jumping and running and trying to squander to the zone and BAM 1k HT and dead. LOADING, PLEASE WAIT.. You have entered the Dreadlands.
they're level 60 now. single pullable by a level 60, HT for 1k. only thing to watch for is Dark Asssassin's pathing near him (they have big aggro range)
Our sk died trying to pull this fella and I did the cr with improved invis, can't say why camo and invis failed for the druid and bard in the other post, but improved invis worked for me 1 month ago.
