I've killed this chap, 125 times or so personally and have been in group for another 50 or so kills.

This spell has dropped 3 times. He's on a 90 min timer. Good luck!

Top floor of castle, but be careful of the paladin epic 1.5 mob that is there. Paly epic mob isn't too bad, but can be a pita if you get both on a pull.

No you can't. He cannot be rooted or snared. He hits hard and nukes hard. As a 65 lvl druid, I have a hard time soloing him. Bring a high level melee with you or bring a small group and clear out the whole castle.

65 Druid. As I'm typing, EQ is minimized and I'm camping these guys. Very easy kills. One of the names nukes me a lot, but all the spells just bounce right off the resists. Replenishment takes care of the few that do hit.

Still, I'd agree with the replier above in that a 52 Druid probably couldn't do this, at least not without a major effort.

My alt- Guardzilla (62 Shaman) and his mutt took him out today. Doggie soloed him while Guard watched- sitting on his drogmor. Slowed, cursed wieh epic and iced him a few times. He ran like a baby. Doggie never dropped health. Guardzilla lost 5% total hp ( but it was ALL from cannibalizing heh). Too bad he is disease and poison resistant or it would have been over real fast. Bad drops. Oh well, do him a dozen more times til I get EB.

This whole castle is cake for me, a 62 Necro. Well, except for Zevfeer himself...just pull with undead slow and send 61 pet - DoT, Shadowbond pet when necessary, rinse and repeat. I can clear the castle of the named and generals in half an hour, since they are the only ones worth killing really - average about 700pp to 1k in loot, plus a few nice droppables - got Staff of the Bloodbeast, alot of Bloodweave armor, Volatis Wing Cloak, Coterie General gear, and Renaldok Wing Cloak. Overall a fun and profitable camp...if your a Necro. Muahahah!!

Hmmm beign a chanter I was wondering if anyone ahs tried DoTing themselves and then fighting him. I have taken him out with just me 58 BST and a 57 druid , easy MR's in the low 100's. The cold based nukes of the BST rarely harm the vamps but the fire based ones hit full nuke all the time.

took him down... group was a 52 chanter . 51 druid(with kei) . 49 war . 49 monk. we wiped out the first floor and then we sat up a med area on the ramp up to the second floor. monk pulled all singles from the second floor. he pulled the coteries on the landings. then he pulled this lil guy. right when he got back to us the chanter mez'd it. the monk FD'd. i (the war) started to taunt. the chanter ToT'd and mana sieved the guy till we were sure there was no way he had mana. i had been taunting the whole time and had plenty of aggro when we woke him up. the chanter slow and druid heals was more then enough... besides a long melee fight he was nothing

You set up a med area on the ramp to the second floor?

A named vamp spawns there. And if I am not mistaken it is Renaldok himself that spawns here.

PPL don't make the mistake of setting up a med area between first and second floor. If you have to med between second and 3rd floor. or for that matter don't med in the castle at all have lev up kill all the way to 3rd floor then just jump of the balcony and med outside.

Much better havin a Sonic Wolf or Bat bashing on you then a named vamp while your trying to med.

Actually, nothing spawns on the ramp itself. Renaldok spawns on the second floor and stays there until he has reason to move (aka he's pulled~).

However, Gorelaz does roam all three floors. Being on an hour+ timer, he's probably not a problem if you keep track of when he was killed last. At the top of the ramp is "a coterie general" who will aggro as you approach the second floor, and at the bottom of the ramp you'll be well within aggro range of two "a coterie centurion" spawns.

Take note of when Gorelaz was last killed, and you could set up a safe spot in the middle of the ramp. Not sure why you'd really want to tho.

Careful of the staircase to the third floor also. Gorelaz does use this staircase, so the cautions above still apply. It's not likely that you'll be on this staircase without seeing him first tho. Near the top of the staircase, just before you reach the first platform with one "a coterie centurion," there is a spot in which you can aggro "a coterie general" from one floor above. He can melee you from the third floor, and once you've moved he will give chase (probably with the centurion you came to pull in the first place). If Trilexior happens to be flying near this general, he will assist as well. Careful pulling that centurion; you could end up with a general and Trilexior on you also.

Nothing like going for the centurion, getting the general and bringing him as well, and halfway down the staircase wondering "How'd I get tashed ..." =)

I have hunted this Castle twice so far and can't wait to go back. my group was me 51 Sham 52 druid 52 Bst Lord 45 Cleric 51 Rogue and 51 Pally. We slowly worked up to the third floor top of the stairs and pulled from there lost the Pally once and the clreic another time. By the end the Cleric and Druid focused on heals. The Bst lords pet and shammy pet really helped when he mezzed two of the tanks. Spirit of Eagle is a help too as he hit us with a Gravity Flux (Wahoo! the ceiling) in his ******** I would recommend you go with two people who can rez. The Loot is good exp is ok and I still have not seen the spell drop. We did loot 2 blue diamonds.

This guy gated from us when low on health...my stuns were resisted.

He was melee hittin me from another floor after that, and hit me with 200 lifetap and a couple 528 nukes (your feel part of your mind melt away), but eventually came back down to let us work on him some more. He then charmed me when he was low on health and make me cast Superior Healing on him...twice! But they didn't land for some reason, and my group finished him off.

Has anyone ran accross this: We pull this guy down to the outside. But sometimes during the pull, he will poof on the 3rd floor right in front of us. Only the puller is up there. When he poofs, he yells out some crazy message. Not sure if we are triggering a despawn or if he had agro from us pulling the 2nd floor and despawns after X amount of time after getting the primary agro.

We fight him in the corner at the top of the stairs on the third floor. Had him yell the crazy message and poof (should really extract that out of the log); he was practically dead and at the time I assumed he poofed on the kill shot. Heratius instantly spawned on the balcony. After resting to full everything and killing Heratius, Valdanov Zevfeer spawned (after finding out about what he does, thank goodness we only saw him on track and didn't find him).

On an unrelated note, we didn't see the wolf pack a single time last night. They were not missed.

I think we've figured out what was happening when this mob would disappear. It seems that, on the 3rd floor, if any of the named should happen to hit the center coffin they will despawn.

The coffins are like this on the 3rd:

"O" being the one to be aware of.

We usually pull to the front of the castle. Last week we were pulling to the balcony and when some of the first and second floor named would turn and run they too would despawn when they hit the middle coffin. Of course you can't snare or root these guys, so nuking is real handy. Fire and magic are about the only things that work.

Pathing is flaky in the castle to begin with, so keep that in mind if you're pulling.

Actually, its not the coffin, its how they hit it.

I use the corner coffin to take out one of the generals fast. The coffins only seem to kill NPCs if they hit it moving north. They can cross over them moving south without any trouble. I have had the middle one eat both this mob AND Ren. Both times they were fleeing while heading north over the middle coffin.

So if you want to fight in here without losing your mob, you might not want to fight on the balcony. The mob will flee to the south entrance and head north over the coffins. Instead, fight inside on the north side of the building. They will just flee to the stairs. Just watch for repops.

Havent had him poof, only killed a couple times though, but what I have had is him get stuck on the third floor trying to path down at the stairs. And he will just sit there and spam some junk. My brother and I we are ally and kindly to the vamps so instead of dealing with the pathing, we just kill them in place.

I don't these mobs go invis. I think they turn into standard luclin traps, I was pretty sure I had see invis on and it didnt make a difference.

Could be wrong, but don't think so. Will go back someday and double check.

No, you are wrong, sorry.

They do, in fact, invis themselves. If you have see invis on, they will still be visible. They seem to cast the necro/sk spell Gather Shadows on themselves.

If you cannot see invis via spells or magic, simply kill a bunch of shrooms in Paludal Caverns. They drop potions with one charge of see invis. Since you have to run through Paludal anyway (unless you were ported to Grimling or Twilight Sea), might as well stock up on these potions.

last night my guild and i took a 57,50,56 cleric 52 sham, 55 rogue 52 chanter, 50 warrior, 53 mage, 53 ranger, and a 35(hehe) pally to this fort, we also like everyone else said got many drops mostly general cloaks , boots, shoulders, belts, and a tunic, imo all decent mid lvl to low lvl twink stuff. our caster heavy, healer heavy group had a different approch, we in a nut shell, stormed the castle. that seemed to work out ok we had our share of adds but with a good chanter this is no problem, these mobs are long fights, and we had our share of rezes but a few things should be noticed. our 35 pally didnt die at all and her wpn was proc'ing some type of bane dammage the whole time very few risists at her lvl that is great. as for the names i did notice this, sometimes they invis themselves so make sure your puller has either see invis or an item for that. another quick usefull piece of info on this place most, i say most because some do, but most cant see a rogue sneak and hide so for finding out whats instore for your group on the next floor, bring a rogue that can snoop and **** around a bit, i got grabed by one mass train while sneaking, i just died inplace and let the warrior drag me to a rez. repops are fast so if you are looking for some non-stop fun and killing grab some close friends and bring some mana this is a fun little place to "raid " with a couple groups i would say high 40's to 60 is the range on lvls as with anywhere, the higher avg lvl of the party, the easier the area is

I took this guy on today, 57 mage with Epic, 55 Wizzy and 46 Cleric. Epic pet was having no problems until about 50 percent left on mob. My pet was then charmed and proceeded to wipe us out. Also discovered Epic moves close to SOW speed without SOW being cast on it. The Wizzy was killed trying to run.

Does he summon? if he dont summon i think i could solo him with ease being a 60mage with ToV and better armor. Also does he run at sow speed or anything like that? I have 2 solo strats, i can chain pet him to death if he runs at sow speed or summons, or i can send in pet - nuke - chain a rogue pet then run like hell in circles. If anyone happens to know pls let me know, would help alot for my first encounter with this guy whenever that is.

@ of us killed him several times yesterday. Classes were a 55 mage and a 58 mage. He and the other named that spawns close to him were really tough, especially for lvl 50. The only drop we got was the bard lute and a BD. I would like to go back with a chanter, need a slower and it will be easy. The 200dd lifetap spell they cast when they hit you are kinda a pain too.
