Karam Dragonforge is a master craftsman of dragon armour. In return for the scales which Lady Vox and Lord Nagefen drop, he can be convinced to create armour which is very very good.
He attacks dark races on sight.

This NPC is on Merchants of Kaladim faction. twice in the past 5 weeks he ate my items without giving the cloak back. GM fixed me up, gave me cloak and said quest was working. different toon was able to do task then the next toon I tried he ate items again. GM returned items. I posted bug on the tracker. I raised faction on the toon to kindly but I am afraid to hand in items. We will see. The only toon this task worked on was my kindly factioned toon right after gm fixed it.
Confirming quest is broken. I have completed the quest many times in the past without any issues. Today, when presenting Karam with the four items he seeks (white dragon hide, platinum trio ring, marquise cut alexandrite, square but black sapphire) ... the result was nothing whatsoever. No cloak reward, no dialogue of any sort. He simply ate the items.

Are you playing on time-locked progression?
These quests are flagged Kunark in our database, so we'll need to know where you are playing that it isn't working. Even a TLP server in Kunark may not have it active. However if you are playing on a regular server and it's failing that's a different situation (of course).
Not playing on TLP servers, this is on Bristlebane. Have successfully completed the quest a number of times in the past without issue, most recently perhaps 6 months ago -ish?
Edit: The response to my petition on this issue was laughable. GM basically told me to go fly a kite. Said they would not provide the reward item, nor would they reimburse the items eaten by Karam. Said it was a "development level" issue and any fix or item reimbursement would only be available from the dev team.
Customer service cannot possibly get any worse. Go go Daybroken Games.

Sorry to hear this. No idea what to suggest (that you do next)... maybe post something in the progression forum on the official boards? I suggest this thinking that a "dev issue" may be that they broke the quest for TLP and live servers have been impacted.
Updating the quest entry as well.
fixed. I posted on the tracker ( https://dgcissuetracker.com/browse/EQ-324?jql=text%20~%20%22Karam%22 ) and just recently went and tested it again. and it worked. 4 times in a row. from indifferent faction and up. See how long it lasts this time?
tried to hand in the 4 items with my cleric at apprehensive. Karam returned them saying I have no need for them. he would not talk to me while apprehensive either.
edit : handed in 60 tumpy tonics to get to indifferent. handed inthe rest ( 182 more) and still indiff ( as expected). but at indifferentm Karam spoke to me, replied to dialogue and I could complete the quest

I handed in my 4 items and he ate them. after a petition, gm gave me all 4 items back. said that it happens sometmes. the 4 items i got back, this Karam dwarf now says he doenst want them and he handed them back to me. So I thought maybe its my faction. but I am aiable and people here do it invisble ( indifferent). but I went to try anyways. I did the bone chip quest and raised my clerics and paladins to ally. i also raised kazon stomrhammer to ally. but this guy remained amiable. so he is not any of those. maybe he is storm guard but most likely he is merchants. relogging, restarting game, camping, zoning - nothing changed it yet. will go see about raiding merchants faction now

Iam having the time of my life with this quest.He is Dubious to me and won't talk..I wonder if doing the invis turn in thing will work? Other then that im finding it's very hard to raise faction with merchants in kaladim..i guess i will have to get unkos to WAR guild leader so i can start turning in belts...BORING if anyone has any information to help please post it. Thanks

For you races that are simply apprehensive, you can click each item on Karam, than have a friend inviz you before you click the 'give'. Make sure you're inviz first, and you can get the cloak, even if he doesn't like you =)

Doubly confirmed to work. Just did this with a Human War and a High Elf Magician (Gorenaire dropped 2 so I did 2 copies of quest.)

This dude is dead on. I was dubious to the dorf and did what this dude said very skeptically. It worked fine. I also "tested" the dorf by handing him some foraged goods to see what'd he'd do without being talked to. He handed them back. I don't know what he woulda done with the items had I NOT invis'd before hitting "give" I wonder if this method works for all such faction quests. Many thanks to Donster for the fine advice!

Did the quest after recieving a white dragon hide on a vox raid. his location is 414, 907 approx(unsure because other locations on same paper).
I was aimable when I did the quest. I am a brell dwarf cleric and i never worked on this faction to get it to this. May want to make an dwarf alt to get this because it is dropable.
I then sold the cloak to a person for 55k who later sold for 65k.
Lodi shield is much better for back on a cleric than this in my opinion unless you want to do damage all the time as a cleric.

This is one of the best items a wizard can get because of the improved damage III..but 65k pp?? Hmm
I recently received the White Dragonscale Hide on a raid which is used in a quest to receive the White Dragonscale Cloak. This fellow Karam Dragonforge gives out the quest. Upon considering the NPC I was a dubious con (I am a dark elf necromancer who worships Innoruuk). I could not buy/sell with him or get him to give me the quest. I tried wolf form but this didn't change my faction with him at all. I believe I may be able to raise my faction with him by turning in Crushbone Belts, but looking at that quest it says it lowers faction with the Oggok warrior guild. I do not want to be KOS to the Oggok warriors, so my question is does anyone know a way I can raise faction with this guy and not become KOS to the Oggok warrior guild?
well via a little bit of easy simple research on this site.. all of the factions lowered by killing him are raised by the CB belt quest... so common sence to me would be do the CB belts alot to raise faction to do the turn in

he is accoisated for dwarves so kill there enemys. which are dwarf bandits goblins from runneye things in the gorge and orcs from crushbone.then when no longer kos to kaladim you can do quests. and then have someone do the thingys listed above by that guy

I used to be KOS as a Dark Elf to Karam, I was told that there is nothing you can do to up faction with him, I believe this to be not true seeing he is now dubious 20 levels later, but in return I have no idea what I killed to fix that somewhat

The diamond ring he wants is a jewlery crafted items made from a platinum bar and a diamond, diamonds are rare drops from all level 50+ monsters, before Kunark you could only find them on dragons and in the planes. Same goes for the black sapphire.. Both items are extremely difficult to craft successfully for a jeweler and requires alot of luck even with 200 skill.

Don't know of what you may kill to improve faq, but if you have a no drop item to trade with him or any npc that you are kos with, there are 3 things you can do to improve fac: 1) have an enchanter or druid cast an illusion spell or wolf form, 2) get a charisma buff (not positive but I think the cha buff helps) and 3) group with a bard and have him use a string instrument and play charismatic carrellion. I'm 24 and I found that I can improve my fac tremendously with Dragoon Ssorn in lfay by using my deception mask (ie. dark elf illusion) and singing this song on him. It may let ya get that needed dragon armor you've been trying to get!

If there is anyone that could help on this matter, What faction is associated with him? is there a way that one can work to improve it if they are KOS?

I am a troll shadowknight and I was able to trade in the scale for the armor without any spells or anything. I just want to say the armor rocks!
