We have not been able to muster a large enough raid force to seriously tag this zone with the turn over in members and the guild focus being on Demi Plane of Blood. With the new change, we just all clicked up and got Gnarli on our first attempt. Here is what we did:
We cleared roamer mobs south of the valley and also pulled every bush out of his valley and the few mobs that roam to the valley from the north side. We pulled all these mobs 2-3 at a time to the zone in for the raid DPS to take down.
Next we moved the entire raid force down in the valley and next to Gnarli.
We set up a normal heal rotation for the MT. We had 4-5 kiters with SOE or whatever run speed on, all spaced around Gnarli and just waiting and ready to pickup adds as they spawned. We used infusion since his aoe's are all at 350 check. Set the dps opposite of the MT.
To start the event we had a pally preset rampage with a stun or something and then HOT on the tank and we were in business.
The key to this event is to have quick observant kiters to pickup every add and kite them in a large circle. Since the adds appeared in sort of random locations in the valley, they had to be quick about it. The kiters also had to stay at greater than 110 range while kiting to avoid the snare aoe.
None of the adds were snarable but snare worked good for the kiters to take aggro and keep a mob in the kite. The dps engages and starts taking down Gnarli. When the adds popped some spawned very near to Gnarli. We had 2 or 3 that reached him fast and he gained back 10% HP 2 or 3 times. None of the adds were killed and so we didnt have to deal with the increased DPS from Gnarli.
We lucked out and got a LB drop. We currently have about 15 guild members actively bidding on every one of those.
One last thing. Gnarli has a relatively small melee range. I had my entire screen filled with tree branches because I had to be so close to him to hit him with my swords. Plus, I resisted every single one of his aoe's with 650 resists but did get stunned/FD about 3 times. This was weird because I never took the 5k dmg part. I got to like 99% health once I think, but otherwise I was always at 100% when meleeing Gnarli from the opposite side of the tank.
We did have a tank switch twice when the heal rot broke down. We ended up using faster heals and each of the 3 tanks had defensive on. Other than 2 of our tanks, nobody else died and the event went relatively fast.
It took much longer to just clear all the mobs from around him than it did to kill Gnarli outright. And he is near the zone in!!
Our tanks had relatively no problem handling his DPS, they are geared in a mix of anguish armor or praetorian or some SOF teir 2-3 pieces. We dont have a tank that chooses to wear all cultural the same way I do!!
-edit-
Funny thing, or not so funny thing, Is that we wiped to the trash bats because we just moved up the hill instead of pulling the bats down. I was afk for a few mins and had set autofollow on a cleric, and I get back to my keyboard and see 20 corpses, ppl dying or shouting for a heal, half the ppl silenced and the other half running for their lives. Silly ppl. Someone had decided that we ought to take on MMAnne next instead of one of the other named. Dang, it was our first serious raid in TOB and we had only killed Gnarli before, and it was just 15 min before!!!
