How to pull this mob the lazy druid's way...

UPDATE: better way to pull this guy... Go behind the building and creep up to the wall approx on the opposite side of where he stands inside. He will aggro with one add.

The usual strat for killing these medallion droppers is to do a lot of clearing, and trying to do it fast to avoid respawns.

Here's how I did it to avoid all that slaughter!

He's always in the corner of his building with 3 adds close enough to aggro. Creep up to the door and tag him with a non-damage spell. Snare is fine altho, unfortunately, he's immune. He will come along with the three adds. Sometimes you might get an add or two from a neighboring building.

Run them all around the nearby forest and ensnare any of the adds. This spell will land on some. Others are highly resistant and it just won't land. That's OK. You just want to run some distance away from their spawn points.

Now get yourself CoH'd. (Did I mention this strat requires a mage? So make friends with one, or make one.) Absent a mage, evac might work but that takes a bit longer and the target may amble back to his spawn point before you can do the following.

As soon as you land rush back and find Faruek. He's unsnared so he will be sauntering slowly back to his house, along with any of his unsnared buddies. They usually are separated a bit due to all the running around. Harmonize the adds to lower their assist aggro range. Then tag Faruek and run him back to the group. He should come alone, or maybe with one add. You can root/snare the add, or if it resists, have your enchanter mez it. They mez easily. (Did I mention this strat can benefit from an enchanter in the group?)

Then just beat the mini-boss down. The adds he summons cause players concern but they are ridiculously low in HPs and will die to damage shields so make sure to DS your group.

Loot your medallions and move on the next medallion dropper.

75 necro max aa besides glyphs, 9,2k unbuffed 100%+ avoidance 20% shielding
74 drood 9k mana, 219 aa

warrior pet (rizafarrs) was tanking buffed only with druid and necbuffs

drood went oom just before enrage of mob (didnt sit for half the fight lol) (used fastheals, had only Clarity X pot, no FT cap aa's)

pet died shortly after enrage (had atk off) bc a heal came too late - rest was tanked by necro. used a hotpotion and a lifeshard for safety

MoB type: Warrior
Drops 3 esoteric medallions every time, use to drop just 1.
May drop other loot, semi-rarely.
Immune to run speed changes.
Immune to attack speed changes.
Sees through invis.
Does NOT proc FD like the trash mobs.
Procs "a tumultuous storm" in 4 to 7 multiples. They stay up for a few seconds and despawn since they are just a proc.
Enrages at about 10%
Not sure if he "rampages" or "goes on a wild rampage" (2 different types or rampage damage) but I didn't see any so probably not.

How to pull him if only him (single)

Bring Ranger/druid. Have ranger or druid get SoE up and level 51 (last 12 minutes) snare up. Ranger will stand on the outside of the east wall (-1755, +191) and aggro all 3 mobs thru the wall (they will act as if there is no wall and does NOT aggro olidan if he is up). Have the ranger run to the zone out (but not zone out) while snaring the 2 trash mobs. Once both are snared, circle around and have the MT tag the named. Ranger keeps aggro on trash and group eats Named alive. Everyone goes home alive to mom and eats apple pie! (once named down, have ranger just out run the mob cause with the new aggro forgetting rule, they will path back or port back to spawn spots and hurt no one)

Reasoning for using the 12 minute snare? With the new "aggro forget" rule that allows you to get far enough away to be forgotton, you can snare them, out run the trash with the named still on you and bring back to camp and kill it. Just remember to get far enough away before returning, say...the zone in area worked for me.

by the way, if I was illa, I would put these stats up by the named like they added the stats to items at alla's. That was a really cool idea.

pulled him out today with sk 1.5 mob up single only pacifying one trash monster nearby, very easy pull. Killed by 4 people with a shaman tanking

http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=1232783

group setup was 1 70 cleric 5.5k mana bar boxed by shaman
2 70 druids, 6-7kish mana bars

took down easily just CH chained shaman and used panther+ss+ magic based dots/cripple (PB/DB/CB spells dont land >< ; don't bother trying )

Max hit was 969 with 8%sheilding/max defensive. Parsed him at ~60,000 total damage in 3min10sec averaging 316dps and spawns (3) Tumultuous storm that (together) did 406dps average

I realize that he spawns with the rest of the ocean giants, but in which of the 4 buildings? If he is near Olidan, SK 1.5 epic mob, that will just blow. I am just about to the point for needing to take out the bosses for the medalion pieces. Any speciific locations, not with the ocean giants, would be very helpful. Thanks you all.

He spawns in teh NE corner of the NE house in the Ocean Giant's area. Olidan can spawn just inside this house against teh Western wall, tucked around the corner. aggroed him twice by accident until I SAW where he was attacking me from. I think Olidan can pop in one of two of the houses, but if Olidan pops in the same house as Faruek, your best bet is to aggro him maybe through teh NE corner wall, but this can aggro up to 2 adds, so bring chanter, or 2 offtanks and enough healers. Without Olidan, it's a much easier pull and cleaner kill doable with one group

Tried this last night with a raid. A 62 shaman could malo and cripple, but couldn't SLOW. Got the Immune to Changes in Attack speed message.

Every once in a while giant mini's will "proc" some wind storm things that seem to work as a rampage. After killing 4 of the mini's today, one which did not proc these things, my observations are that they hit for 100-200 max they always come in a bunch maybe 4-7 random? They usually attacked the priests and rangers (using archery) skipping right over all the other tanks. They stuck around for a few seconds each time before poofing and once or twice switched targets and they dissapear when the giant boss has died as well.

He hits for 984~ max.
He procs a 300 dd (i think) + FD effect nuke. Just sit/stand to get back up, its single target though, just on your MT.

He also summons about 4 or 5 thunderstorms (or something) that just attack the MT. Those hit for about 200 max, but very rarely will hit max. Most of their hits are between 50-120. These despawn within 20-30 seconds if at that. Not really worth worrying about. Just heal fast for those times.

Fun fight to be honest. If your MT a least.
