You get 3 Special Skills; Advance, Stop and Attack! There does not seem to be any specific order you need to try them in. Try each one and, if the crab refuses, feed it a fish egg and try again. Eventually it will obey you several times in a row and the quest will complete.

If the crab vanishes before training is complete, abandon the quest and restart it.
