Let's try again. The idea is good, but it is probably doomed due to the improbability of people actually reading subjects before posting. The same thing happens when one watches people trying to go through a door that is clearly marked "pull".
Oh, I do the door thing all the time. I blame it on the fact that these days, businesses put a million different signs on their doors, so I've stopped paying attention to them in the same way that I don't pay attention to banner ads on websites. Then, when it happens, I see the sign, and laugh at myself.
I do read all subject titles on forums, though, at least within reason.
On topic, I agree that this idea is good. I think part of the reason people don't read forum subjects is that they think if it's important only if it's in the first five subjects. It comes from Search Engines. I learned that almost all people will stop searching on a particular topic in a search engine after reading only the first 10 items, and that most people stop after the first five. Then, they transfer that same behavior to forums. It's still irritating, though.
I'm way out there in that I only stop reading when the irrelevant links outnumber the relevant ones, so I often go into the 20s and 30s before changing my search subject, so similarly, I read forum subjects.
