PSA: Upgrades, pre-order, early access... oh my!Follow

*giggles!* Your explanation makes sense. I don't like that they do that, but I get it. Now that I think back on FFXI and PlayOnline vs. PS2 it makes sense because it was like that even back then. I just wish they had made this all a bit easier, to figure out, but again it is just like FFXI when we all ran around the game like chickens with our heads cut off because we had to figure it all out by ourselves with little guidance.

I am happy to buy the PS3 version to get EA & goodies, so I really hope that they will refund me my pre-order for the digital download. My luck has it that they probably won't on some technicality, but I really hope they do. I went ahead and opened a ticket through the support site to call them in the morning. I will put on my flirty giggly voice and say I accidentally got the PC version instead of PS3 version.

thanks for the explanation.
Now i just need to figure if ill register the product code they will be giving me(as 1.0 player with 14days free) or use the CE product code... if you don't mind can you answer a few more questions for me pls... having a hard time contacting their support team;
1 - I'm assuming they will cancel the currently registered beta product keys linked to our square IDs correct? if so
2 - then we will need to register the product key we bought or w/c they will email us? w/c will then be applied to the ingame chars from P4?

my apologies for being a pain and thank you

Upgrading from SE to CE Information

If you are upgrading from the SE of FFXIV 1.0
Please, please, please be aware that you can only register ONE version per platform to your service account. Essentially, this means that if you registered 1.0 to your account, then you have already used the only PC registration you are allowed for this account. You're not completely shut out of upgrading your SE to a CE, it simply means that you must purchase the PS3 version.

Not true.

They've already made clear that they're implementing a $19.99 digital upgrade method for 1.0/2.0 SE users. It simply isn't available for pre-order.

Derp.

You might have to take that back. You ordered a PC version of the game if you got the digital download. You'd have to get the PS3 version to register the items to the same account.

Sorry I read you wrong. The reason it's so jacked up is that the registration process for both platform are different. PC uses normal registration while PS3 uses promotional codes.

So basically if you had the 1.0 CE you don't have to do anything to get the 2.0 CE in-game items(hat, mount, minion, ect.). If you want to participate in the early access and get the pre-order items(moogle hat and cait sith) then you need to pre-order the PS3 version. Sorry for the confusion Smiley: frown

No... If you have 1.0 CE it does not matter which version you pre-ordered. You can use the code on your existing account. The only problem is that you will not be able to register the actual game and get the 30 days that come with it.

Thank you for posting this. I was debating buying another CE because I was unsure if I would get the Coeurl mount. Although I like that the new CE comes with the soundtrack maybe I just buy that instead of spending another $80.

Also to add confusion, legacy members are those who paid for at least 3 months during the last year that 1.0 was running. (not to be confused with legacy characters which are all characters imported from 1.0)

Thanks for the info, could you provide a link though so I can add it here. I knew you could upgrade the 2.0 version from SE to CE, but I hadn't heard anything about the older version.

ditto.

Please provide sourcing on this. I am a Legacy SE 1.0 member on PC seriously considering upping to CE and would love to digital download and not have to buy a box I don't need for a system I don't have.

Please also update the other bit of false information before more people cancel their pre-order when they didn't have to. (granted it IS better to pre-order the PS3 version if you have a 1.0 account, it`s just not required for the pre-order bonuses)

I apologize in advance if these questions are off topic or stupid.

Both my better-half and I are 1.0 legacy players. She is a SE, I am CE. During open beta her character did have the legacy tattoo and she did receive her legacy chocobo. My original character did also have the tattoo. I then made a new male Miquote character on the account. However, this character did not have a tattoo or legacy chocobo, it was my understanding that legacy covered the account, not just a single character? I am incorrect on this assumption and only my first character from 1.0 is 'legacy' and hence he will be the only one of my characters to get the legacy chocobo and early access? for that matter will any of my other characters get the CE in-game items??

Ok, so... you can use the digital upgrade of the CE for ARR(PC) as a way to upgrade your original CE so you can get the bonus items, but I'm not seeing a link in the store for any digital upgrade. The only versions showing up in the Square Enix store are the SE for both PC and PS3(both physical copies) as well as the SE and CE via digital download. For now I'll add that it was mentioned on the official forum by Camate, but it isn't yet available in the Square Enix store.

I changed the language in the post to 'pre-order' from 'purchase' where necessary. Most people who already own the game are purchasing it again for early access.

That is a good question. I myself am not legacy, but it was my understanding that there were certain things that would only be available to characters and other things that were account wide. Just as an example, I think the legacy mount is something specific to characters you created during 1.0, but all of your characters(including the new one) would be eligible for early access.

Perhaps someone who knows more about legacy can confirm or deny this.

Thanks for the follow up. I hope someone can confirm or deny your statement, not saying to don't trust you, I'd just like to know where my character stands. Losing the legacy chocobo on my new characters isn't a huge hit or miss with me, but the early access would be nice, along with the CE in-game items, assuming they too are account wide and not character wide.

:03pm dst and still getting Error 3. Tried 4 times.

So, let me understand this. I got an early access code from Gamestop, and then I have to take THAT code and register it, and then they send me ANOTHER code, and then I have to take THAT code and go to my ps store to redeem it?

1) go to preorder website: ex.: http://preorder.na.finalfantasyxiv.com/
2) enter the code that you received when you preordered the game (like Gamestop receipt)
3) get an email confirmation from SE saying they got the code that (ex. Gamestop) gave you and then...
4) get another code from SE in that email and then..
5) go to PS store to redeem SE code section that they sent to us in the email and then
6) enter the SE code that was sent in that email then...
7) download the client software or update the client software.

Really? all that? or am I missing something important?
