Blacksmithing

Blacksmiths have the ability to forge their own armor and weapons both for personal use and for sale to others.

What are the best strategies for developing and using the blacksmithing skill? What items are the most and least useful ones to forge? Which classes are best suited to take up this trade? Can you make a profit off of blacksmithing, and if so how? Which cities are the best places to practice your trade?

Post your strategies on how to best use and develop the blacksmithing skill, and read, rate and comment on those posted by others.

Human Enchanted plate?
# Oct 19 2000 at 12:17 PM Rating: Default
Has anyone figured at what attributes each of the metals gives when forged in the Enchanted plate?

I've seen several posts of enchanted platinum Full plate BPs listed, but none shows any attributes, while the other armor parts all give attributes.

Any info would be great!

trivials on the new weapons & shields

hail all
Since getting the skill pass 175 is such a pain in the *** (due tu the ore and laether padding) i was wondering about the trivials of the new weapons and shields (non cultural)
does anyone have figures on them?
perhaps this s an easier way to raise the skill than hunting pelts and spiderlings to work on fine plate ..

the kite and tower shields for example might wield some experiences ..

does anyone have some insights already?

thx for your help

I doubt any of new weapons have a trivial above 100, based on tidbits OTHER people have let out on trivials for a few of the new and old weapons.

Unless you are compulsive stop reading here.
Knarmon

Here notes I made on using weapons to skill up. Not a viable path even when you are below trivial actually. This is from barbarian charisma and wisdom/intelligence viewpoint. I organize on basis of lower skill level being from success rates, and the higher number being trivial.

Skill level 58 - 80 Javelins water, metal sheet (1.4pp), javelin mold (11c) dam 7 delay 33, range 205, cost 1.5p, vendor buys for 453c see source of molds near middle of this document. Assuming 10 combines per skill level, 220 combines cost 330pp, minus assumed 110 successes selling for 50pp or 280pp. There is no conceivable player market for this.

Skill level 58 - 75 Forged ******* sword: 1HS weapon, dual edged mold 1944c, hilt mold 648c, pommel mold 648c, metal sheet 1303c, water flask 13c (vender sells ******* sword for 15P damage 8) cost to make 4600c, dmg 7, delay 33, wt 6.5 sell for 9pp. cost 4pp Due to mold availability, this is special order item only, not a skilling up item. Tepxal writes: this sword is usable and desired by Druids. I think it is the only straight bladed slashing weapon they can use.

Skill level 58 - 75 Morning star: Trival 75 spiked ball mold 2592c, hilt mold 648c, metal sheet 1303c, water flask 13c, trivial below level 141, costs 4600c to make, 1 hand blunt weapon, dmg 8, delay 38, wt 9, sell for 9pp cost 4pp. Due to mold availability, this is special order item only, not a skilling up item.

Skill level to 91 Forged Two Handed sword: heavy blade mold 3887c, hilt mold 648c, Pommel mold 648c, sheet of metal 1303c, water 13c, cost to make is 6600c (vender sells 2H sword for 27 plat damage 12) not trivial at 141, I had 1/2 successes at 141. Damage 12, delay 44, wt 11, sell for 15pp. cost 5pp. Due to mold availability, this is special order item only, not a skilling up item.

Im just so fed up with smithing tonight I feel like giving up... after spending hours camping elementals for swirling mist.. and many trips trying to get moonlight and paying out well over odds and having to run through mistmoor castle to a camp for it.. I get ingrediants for 2 tempers.. great.. 2 chances at plate I think.. WRONG.. 140 brewing skill and bam 2 fails in a row.. I was not in a laggy zone and the only thing is I am 1 overweight.. aaaaaaaaggggggggggghhhhhhhh.....
Is brewing like tailoring where you need to be underweight unless you are very much above trivial..
Well Im just seething now... Maybe I need to get a picture of programmer to throw things at....

I guess I will just have to play safe in future.. check I am underweight.. make sure no one is in zone.. make it when there are less people on server.. I just cant afford the time involved..

Why did they make moonlight temper so fricken rare... and why the hell did they make it include something that you need to forage when no High Elves have this skill..

Well goodnight all.. Hope you are having better luck....
Solution is to pay a skill 168 brewer for tempers.

Now that I got my smith skill up to 175, my hero, and one time nemesis, is ready to boil the programer in oil. Dang, I guess my personal rule holds, get at least 10 points over trivial before making anything that is risky. Heck and you are 140 brewing skill, 5 over, and a wizz at that, rather than a dumb barbarian like me. On game skill of disasters, still doesn't match intensity of emotion when I dropped and lost a lore crafted helm, I slaved for over a month saving for, losing it. After a week I turned my computer back on.

Perhaps the solution is to hire out a 168 skill brewer, and pay them what ever they ask. They have earned it if they can combine the tempers.

EQ wants to encourage the cross use of trades. It is one thing to master all the trades (get to 100), quite another to truly max out skill in all of them, likely an impossible task, tough enough to do so just with one trade.

hero (?) - Very unlikely
nemesis (?) - Even more unlikely
Boiling.. Never (hmmm... well almost)

I would say that its probably just a fecked up skill like tailoring. 1 wt over to fail 9 out of 10 or something. Its done and over with and yes I will skill up (as I had been) although I thought 140 was a pretty good start. My first worked below trivial at 116 and my 2nd at 138 skill, so I would say 2 fails in a row after this is a negative hot spot in the rules. But I never did like the fail at trivial bit. I will however remember to play safe. I also cant be bothered to push any more on smithing, I will make my veggies into drinks and maybe max alcohol tolerance and brewing (not as usual for wizards as barbarians). I will make it when I make it.

Dropping something is well something you know not to do.. a visible error, but such is life. Not knowing the little faubles built into the rules of skills is a bit more complex (Its still my responsibility, I just have a mean streak for programmers - hot irons would be better). But thanks for the sympathy. :)

Rough skills:-
Fletching 175 ish
Smithing 176
jewels 70 ish
tailoring 70 ish
pottery 130 ish
baking 140 ish
brewing 140 ish
Every ish is higher I believe...

No way to learn smithing with hails. READ.
Trolls don't even have race specific stuff implimented, with no hints that it is even coming.

As a barbarian, I am familiar with all the barriers the dumb races encounter. The costs are double to buy supplies, the success rates are half or worse, which doubles your costs again on top of basic prices. I was committed to my barbarian, but when things got pricey I let a high charisma character do my buying and even selling, when I sold back to vendors.

ALSO:
You are a LONNNNNNGGGGG ways off from even being able to make banded armor, and that is a Lonnnngggg ways off from being able to make cultural armor.

Read all the smithing guides that allakhazam lists, he has short and sweet guides. The guide at my clan web site below is exhaustively complex, but if you wade through it you will get a clear idea of complexity and costs involved. As a 175 smith, I am still waiting to make cultural armor, need to master fine plate first.

Well, I have the ingredients for the royal temper. Will make it tonight. So the questions becomes what to make? And what can I be relatively sure will work? Enchanted metals are not too difficult to come by (I know some enchanters). I have 2 sheets of High quality folded metal. Any thoughts on what to make at skill 175 would be appreciated. I have the following questions.

1) Where do the recipies come from for the cultural armor? It would be wonderful if there was a book somewhere I could by to confirm these recipies. I can't believe these were discovered from trial and error.

2) On all the human - qeynos recipies posted here it shows both the royal temper and a flask of water. This is different from every other race specific armor. I think this is an error and unless I hear different will include only the temper. Can anybody confirm any of the recipies? They are totally different on EQmaps. Come on, we humans have to stick together.

3) Also can anybody confirm any of the recipies for the Freeport enchanted weapons? I have a flawless aquamarine (droped off centaur in SK - obviously not just dropped by giants).

I will decide what to do and will make an attempt in the next couple days. I will keep you all posted. Any info would be helpful.

How are you getting enchanted chain jointing and Folded sheets of metal?

I made a Platinum Full Breastplate last night and just used platinum bar, 3 HQ Folded SM, a Royal temper, smithy hammer, leatherpadding, and of course the mold which was outrageously priced 99pp and some change.

But this came up with a purple BP lighter than cleric planes armor AC 22 Wht 11. Not bad and looks awsome

Like I said BOTH in body of my message and in title of message, this was a first hand report by another person, not myself.

It is pretty bad, when after extensive reading of this bulletin board for 2 months, and many many posts on making of this stuff, this is the limit of the details that people bother to post.

I continue to urge people that are successful, to give more details, successes per number attempts at what skill level, stats of the results and any other tidbits, such as what vendors will pay for it at what charisma.

When I finaly make the armor, my intent is to give a full report, but i'm almost tempted to just thumb my noses at everone, in the spirit of the same secrecy that everyone else is practicing. Nah...

Those are the stats Enchanted plat did not work because the chain jointing and sheet metal were not enchanted. You have to make the chain jointing out of enchanted ore and the folded sheet metal out of enchanted ore. In order to get the stat increases.

Talk ta the Ironhearts and the Fireprides in Qeynos and ye should get the rundown on recipes fer the Full Plate.

Hello, this might be helpfull; i found that you can buy "The Legend of Full Plate", a book, in one the ironforges place(pretty sure anyway, i bought it in qeynos). it tells the recipies for the different full plate pieces. happy smithing =).

btw, do you know if the different metals affect it in different ways? especially when imbued; because it drops the metal in the name and replaces it with enchanted, so i was wondering if it gives different bonus stats.
also, how do you(can you?) imbue the full plate with karana? i am a paladin following karana, and will be gathing components to smith my armor in the next few weeks and would like to make it deity specific to karana(should give REALLY good stats are far as i can tell from the brell serlis dwarven plate).

So far the only player-made chainmail that 'as been found that is caster-wearable is the elven mithril chain (which matches the Tolkien sorta stuff a lotta High Fantasy is based on). There 'as been Seafarer Ringmail (Freeport, Human) and Northman Chainmail (Halas, Barbarian) made, but neither is caster-wearable. # Oct 16 2000 at 10:11 PM Rating: Default
i have a few questions that noone else has asked so far. in human cultural plate(full plate) you can use 4 different metals. when you use different type of metals, do get a different product? and when you enchant it, it drops the name of the metal and just says "Enchanted Full Plate xxxxx". do the different enchanted metals affect the stat boosts they give?
also, i have seen pics of deity specific armors and they gave REALLY nice stats; ie: dwarven plate for brell serlis. do humans have the deity specific armor? if so, how do you affect what deity it is for since humans have many choices?

Well i made an Platinum Full Breastplate last night with a platinum bar. And i got AC22 wht 11 and it was a cross between cleric planer armor and Mithril BP in looks. When i tried it with an enchanted plat bar it said that it could not be forged in this forge. So the only other forge that i know of that is a race specific forge is the one in Freeport which i will try tonight. As far as i know the different metals give different looks possible different ac's.

Hi I have a master human smith on my account and I just can seem to get the seafarer cutlass to work.
I have done my research and have come up short or missinformed somewhere. The following is what I know and how I have found out to make the cutlass.

Medium quality folded sheet of metal + Curved blade mold + Hilt mold + Pommel mold + Flask of water

Now to make the medium quality folded sheet you buy 3 large bricks of medium quality ore (from the gnomes) and combine them with one water. This makes one Medium Quality Brick of Ore. You then take that and a smithing hammer and water to make a folder sheet. I have done all of this with success but trying to make the cutlass its self always comes up with "the quantity does not combine message" B(

Are there any other master human smiths out there that could lend me a hand. More so I would like to gather the names of human and other race master smiths on this thread and start a mailing group for advanced smithing.

Sea Farer’s cutlass: Medium quality folded sheet of metal + Curved blade mold + Hilt mold + Pommel mold + Sea Temper (Quantity?). Jyro says to use the Freeport Forge up on the deck in the Warrior's Guild in West Freeport.

Sea Temper is used for all the Seafarer stuff and the Field Plate: 2 Mugs of Sea Foam + 1 Saltwater Seaweed + Fish Wine (bought or brewed). (Trivial ?) Make in brew barrel

Mugs of Sea Foam: dropped by Seafury Cyclopses, maybe aquagoblins , in Ocean of Tears (actually looks like a mug)

Saltwater Seaweed: occasionally recieved when fishing in the OoT (got two at about 85 fishing skill, so you don't need to be a Master Fisher)

Medium Quality Folded Sheet Metal: Medium Quality Block of Ore + water + Smithy Hammer.

Medium Quality Block of Ore: 3 Medium Quality Large Bricks of Ore, Water (this recipe verified by Eforty Ounce), on vendor in High Hold Keep, near bank

I ain't a humie smith, but I think I see a coupla possible problems. One, make sure ye're usin' the Freeport Forge up on the deck in the Warrior's Guild in West Freeport. The regular forges probably won't make the cultural stuff, and the cutlass counts. Two, ye need Sea Temper instead of a Flask of Water in all likelihood - all the Freeport humie cultural stuff seem ta use that. Sea Temper is made by brewin' 2 Mugs o' Seafoam (dropped by Seafury Cyclops in Ocean o' Tears) + Saltwater Seaweed ("caught" occasionally by fishing in the OoT) + Fishwine.

how to raise skill after 175
# Oct 16 2000 at 9:25 AM Rating: Default
My question is simple, my blacksmith skill is 175 and I can't find any good way to raise it further. At the moment I'm doing fine plate armor but skill raises are rare and it takes forever to acquire all the components. Money is not the issue, it's just a matter of time wasted. So, any master smiths out there wanna reveal their secrets ? Any fast (even if expensive) way of increasing my skill?
RE: how to raise skill after 175
# Oct 16 2000 at 1:47 PM Rating: Decent
Unfortunately it isn't going to be fast. You have to get leather backings - that requires a silk thread (2 spiderling silks) and a low quality (bear/wolf/cat) pelt. What I generally do is get a port to the druid ring in feerrott and kill all the spiderlings that I can find and combine them in the tailer kit to make silk threads. When I get about 60 threads, I will run back to east commons and sit near the 2nd inn. I will auction to the zone that I am buying LQ/MQ pelts for 2/3 pp (respectively). Make sure you have a skinning knife first. If you get a MQ or HQ pelt, put it into the tailering kit with the skinning knife and hit combine. The pelt will now be 1 quality lower - ie HQ goes to MQ. You can hit combine 2x on HQ pelts to make a LQ pelt (make sure you place the pelt and knife in seperate slots).

Once you have a bunch of leather backings, then you can make MQ folded sheets of metal. The best place that I have found is to bind myself (Cleric) to NFP outside the bank; run to HHK and buy the blocks of MQ ore from the vendor, walk (crawl with that much weight) outside to the pass and go to the forget (located left as you zone out of HHK) and create the metal sheets. I usually make 3 10 slot backpacks full of metal sheets, then gate back to freeport. I take 1 10 slot backpack of metal sheets and zone to east freeport and buy the molds (located on the 2nd floor of the armor shop).

What I started with was bracers and collars. These both require 1 sheet of MQ folded sheet metal, 1 mold, 1 water, 1 smithy hammer (re-usable) and 1 leather backing. FS bracers trivial at 182. Collars were trivial when I trivialed on bracers, so I believe they trivial around 180. Currently I am working on FS visors as they still only require 1 MQ folded sheet. I am at 188 and they aren't trivial yet.
Philosophy of raising skill over 175

Only point of raising skill is to improve success rates. Next group task is to start getting a feel for success rates at various skill levels for each type of armor (chest, leg, robe etc) for fine plate. Once that data is published then you decide if it is worth the considerable investment of making dozens of a fine plate visors solely to skill up. How you gonna sell a dozen visors anyways? to vendors?

I suggest the same approach I took with banded, make it to sell, and enjoy the skill increases that come my way, stay away from items that have terrible success rates. I figure if I have 3 failures in a row, i need to stay away from it, and considering the prices of fine plate will likely make 2 failures my cut off.

As I have been asking for someone to share this sort of data for over a month, It looks like I'm going to have to do it myself, then the secret will be out. Gonna need at least a few thousand pp to finance that experiment though... so don't nobody hold your breaths, I'm half way there, making money the old fashioned way 4 and 5 pp at a time selling banded, bows, and tailor items.

That's the thing. If you get your Cha way up 105+, then you don't really lose money (unless you fail a lot). I guess my interest in Smithing is to make all of the nice neat stuff, not necessarily to say this item is makable 100 times at this level or such. I am more interested in raising my skill up without spending my entire bank account to do it. That is why I pick and choose my items according to the minimal cost involved.

And yes, unless I have a order for something, I sell all my crafts back to vendor. By the time you figure cost of making the metal sheets, with spending time running around or buy silk threads and pelts, buying the molds and that kinda stuff, I spend about 27 to 28 pp to make 1 FS visor. I sell each visor back to the vendor for about 25 and a half pp. I end up losing only 1 and a half pp for each success.

To elaborate on my original post, the problem is the time wasted looking for silk threads and pelts. btw I'm a paladin which means no gate for me :(. That's why I was wondering if there was any alternative to making FS armor. Thanks for all the suggestions tho.

How ot get leather backings fast

Good comments, it is nice to know that you can recover costs of success from vendors.

I was able to get 5 stacks (100 pieces!) of leather backing, in 2 to 3 hours. Here is how to do it.

Everfrost is unique in that in the valleys, it has a high wolf and bear population. The valley structure of it channels them all right at you. I just slowly travel north then south killing every spiderling, wolf, and bear I run into in wee hours of the morning (no competition). It is a newbie zone, so the highest level mob you run into is a level 15 vengful soloist. At level 24 I kill them with one or two blows, so it is non stop action. You get lots of low and med quality, and occassional hq pelts. With a skinning knife, I imediately tailor them all to low quality (except the hq bears that are still worth at least 20pp). Spiderling silks I immediately tailor into stackable silk threads. I usually have more threads than pelts, so as soon as i get a low quality pelt I tailor it into a stackable leather backing. The tailoring part of this is all very low level skill, so if you aren't a tailor of 20 skill, do it.

I kill all the skeletons I run into also, the bone chips are worth a lot to necros (4pp a stack), and those weapons add up to a lot of pp surprisingly fast. I used to let them rot on the ground, till I filled up my bags with them, took them to the vendor and found I had 3 or 4 pp of weapons to sell. It all adds up, with almost no added time. All the skeletans (except the vengefuls) are only level 5) and they die with one kick of the foot from my warrior.

As an addition, if you have a friend that can port, East Karana is a god send for hunting for pelts. I was there goofing off with a group of my guild mates killing the named giant and happened to have brought my tailering kit with my skinning knife and about 70 threads. Needless to say, before the night was done, I had used up all 70 threads and have filled every available slot with a pelt. Gated back to the bank, dumped the extra stuff into the bank and then got a port to ferrott where I beat on spiderlings until I had enough silks to process all the rest of the pelts and then had another 40 silks left over.

Ogre Splintmail Broken
# Oct 16 2000 at 4:36 AM Rating: Default
FYI, the recipies for the Ogre Splintmail (not platemail) are currently bugged. They result in items that can only be worn by mid sized races, NOT ogres or trolls! Thats, right! The special armor crafted by Ogres, made in the ogre-only oggok forge, pieces with Ogre in the name (Ogre Splintmail Helm for example) are only wearable by Human, Erudite, Halfelf, elf, high elf, dark elf, barbarian. Nice testing Verant, it must be a bug.

Where did you find recipies for ogre splint mail at?
RE: Ogre Splintmail Broken
# Oct 18 2000 at 6:49 AM Rating: Default
The recipies I completed have recently been updated in the Ogre armor recipe sections of this site. I only did the Helm and Sleeves and didn't pursue any others as I didn't want to waste the rest of my blood tempers on stuff I couldn't use.

Either all recipies use 2 sheets of adamantite, or it follows a pattern of sheets similar to banded. I'm not totally sure yet, will have to do some testing.

But so you don't have to look it up-

2 sheets of adamantite (not folded)
1 Blood Temper
1 Smithy Hammer
1 Large Chainmail Pattern
1 Large Leather Armor piece (must be the same item type as the pattern, and must be store bought)

Good Luck with your smithing!

Ok I have been smithing away and have a question.
I have got my skill to 136. According to the old rule smithing its banded mantels and cloaks from here on out untill 165. Is this still true? what is best leveling method from here? Any help would be great.

I just pushed from 155 to 175 post patch, and with info for other players have deduced the following as reasonable order in which to make banded for efficient (success wise) skilling up.

100-115: banded wrists, neck
115-123 banded boots
123-135 banded mask, helm, belt (tunic in there somewhere, post update trivial <157)was 135 preudate)
135-168 banded gloves, legs, mantel
168-175 banded cloak

Few more tidbits here. Someone sold theirs to a vendor, so I have price vendor sells them for, an intersting number... Anyone know what the MQ large bricks sell for? I hope to go to HH soon and find out. My real life health is failing fast, so my posts may disappear, sigh. I really want to get first hand experience in all the new stuff before I pass on. Not able to play much any more. This forum has sorta given me a fun purpose to life at this point, I am grateful for a receptive group of fellow smiths, and all the encouraging letters.

Medium quality metal rings: Medium Quality Large Brick of Ore, File, and Water in the NORTHMAN forge. (trivial <175 reported) used for Imbued Northman Armor. wt 4.0, vendor sell 6.1pp, not stackable, icon looks like a metal bit.

Please listen what happened... I took order of full set of Large light blue dyed FS armor. I told him it will take me 3-5days, when its rdy I will give him tell...
Well, I finished them in 3days..he wasn't on til 6th day. I Gave him a tell....No answear.. I gave him tell many times to tell him his order is rdy, not a single hello, answered back from him. I took my other character and said hi, he answered hi.. but he said he didin't order any armor and never heard of me(smith). Then why didn't answer my smith character if he didn't know him. Finally my friend asked him. He finally said his cousin was using his account and he must have done it.
I was so upset and sad. I worked so hard for this. i think it doesn't matter who was playing this character.. he still is responsible for it. How can i know its different person :(
Then i thought about, hmm how could i prevent this? Get even a some downpayment before i take orders? hmmm probably no one will give money in before hand... Then when things like this going to happen to me again? or maybe i don't take orders at all and just make and sell whatever i have? Please let me know what everybody think about this :(

I agree with you. I just got burned this weekend by something similiar.

I saw somebody at the bank auctioning for a Master smith. After I gave him a tell, he said he wanted a full set of small plate armor for his dwarf warrior. I told him I could probably make it within a day or 2. He said that would be fine. I spent 4 hours on friday night making the suit and then saturday had a raid with my guild to the POH. Sunday I saw the guy online and gave him a tell. He informed me that something came up and he had to buy something else and that he no longer had the funds to buy the suit of armor that I had just made.
I never take orders, same thing happens.

I used to try to take orders, especially as a new smith selling banded, totally broke after skilling up. it just about never worked. The new stuff is so complex I just tell them to leave me alone untill I make the stuff, when they get wind that I am planning on it. heck, even during a session people go link dead, and that is the end of that. I will trust guild mates I know well, but even then the paper work is so miserable, i refuse to take even down payments.

By the way, I'd LOVE to have your success data per attempts at what skill level. Cautious people like me want to know ahead of time that the tunic took 8 attempts to make (as an example) as, I for one, will not make something with that sort of data out there. If fine plate is set up to trivialize like banded we will have a progression of difficulty. If verant chose to be kind with these high priced items, they all may have resoanable success rates once you are at 175. I can't believe NO one has commented on this yet.
RE: I never take orders, same thing happens.
# Oct 17 2000 at 11:42 AM Rating: Default
Well I'm in sales and nothing gets special ordered until I receive a downpayment. This is always the case even with friends and family. If you do this most likely the person will be sending you tells to see if the item is ready. If you do finish the job and send the person tells and they won't respond just sell the item to someone else and keep the original deposit after all you completed your obligation. Also you can sell the item at a discount so it shouldn't be to hard to sell.
RE: I never take orders, same thing happens.
# Oct 16 2000 at 8:41 AM Rating: Decent
Just a small update. Visors are still not trivial at 188.
RE: I never take orders, same thing happens.
# Oct 18 2000 at 8:20 PM Rating: Default
Another way to make sure you are paid for your work is to request a 50% downpayment, with a reference list of players to verify your reputation (guild) Then set a reasonable deadline to make the materials, and stand by your deadline or refund your money. As part of the deal insist that after the deal you use that person as a reference. Some small bookeeping but youre paying carpal tunnel futures into that armor fabrication. This keeps everybody honest and the folks that are window shopping can keep moving on.

Take downpayments for anything you dont think you will be able to sell elsewhere... Or make it in affordable parts.. or get them to stand at forge if necessary (Ive done this before...) I know its harder with the new plate..

Hmm.. Large Blue Plate.. sounds sellable to me.. Troll, Ogre, even Barbarian with maybe small discount for size.

Alternatively you can make one fantastic looking twink ogre/troll/barbi to advertise your wares.

Im sorry but its always been the same, you cant rely on people to purchase as they have agreed.

I bet cumulatively we could tell some unbelievable tales. Here are a few for starters.
since my main sales target are customers of banded, reinforced armor, cured and raw silk, 5 to 40pp bows, tailor made whips, I hang out in newbie zones, or zones adjacent to newbie zones for sales, So I get a whole lot of this nonesense. Once i start making fine plate, heh, if enough volume I can move on to leveling up, and avoid these folks.

Warning signs that that buyer has no money:
1. anomynous and the conversation takes more than 4 sentences for them to decide if they even have an interest.

2. they don't know the zone well enough to find the zone area to adjacent zones

3. They ask more than 4 questions, then ask to see the item, then start repeating questions. They don't know how to scroll up.

4. They start accusing you of banditry when you know your prices are below market.

5. If the conversation takes more then 5 minutes, the chances of a sale become about zero.

6. They don't know the zone well enough to find the only building in the entire zone.

7. They say the same question over and over, did I say that one yet already?

My dilema is whether to just disappear, or spend the time educating them hoping they will be a good future customer. Some of my best customers were like this initially, and I spent considerable time and patience educating them. If they start cussing me, I black list them, put them on ignore, and move on to next zone.

One guy was cussing non stop, I commented that I was sorry he was feeling so irritable, and he said what the f... you mean by that? /ignore xxxx
Perhaps that is how he talks all the time at home.

RE: Trivail

Fine plate bracers trivial at 182. When I hit 182, fine plate collars were trivial also. Following the pattern of banded, I would guess that collars trivial around 180.

Visors are still not trivial at 188.

Just a quick note on making mithril plate:-
ALL mention of ore relates to mithril
ALL mention of Hammer relates to Elven Hammer
* Number of sheets will depend on mold.

Block of Ore +Dew +Hammer = Folded Sheet
Large Brick of Ore +File +Dew = Mithril Ring
Mithril Ring +File +Hammer +Dew = Mithril Chain Jointing

Moonlight Temper +Folded Sheets(*) +Mithril Chain Jointing +(MEDIUM) mold +Leather backing +Hammer = Mithril Plate Armor

Really just putting this up incase I forget by the time I manage to get more tempers together...
BTW watch out for newbies begging spamming you as you are combining... I personally always fail more in lag. Grr...
