Blacksmiths have the ability to forge their own armor and weapons both for personal use and for sale to others.
What are the best strategies for developing and using the blacksmithing skill? What items are the most and least useful ones to forge? Which classes are best suited to take up this trade? Can you make a profit off of blacksmithing, and if so how? Which cities are the best places to practice your trade?
Post your strategies on how to best use and develop the blacksmithing skill, and read, rate and comment on those posted by others.
Just be warey, at brewing skill of 148 I still fail about 10% of time making tempers. Of course I'm a barbarian, with rocks in head, but with components being so rare, you might want to push your brewing skill to the max before risking losing components.
Silvered weapons. Sound easy enough to make, and I know some exist. I'll try what sounds like a likely recipe as soon as I get some ingredients. The thing is that I did not find any reference to silvered weapons aside from arrow heads, but I could have sworn that this came up at some point. I use the tried-and-true idea of whatever is the simplest solution is often the correct one, so I plan to just add a bar of silver to the regular recipie for a longsword and cross my fingers. None of this enchanting crap, none of this temper stuff, just a longsword with a silver coating. That's all I ask, really. If someone has a better idea, please post and make sure that the lives of those wisps were not taken in vain!
Does anyone know the recipe for mithril bits. I tried the recipe for metal bits and I got the message does not combine to make anything message.
The recipe for the wood elf sewing kit stated mithril bit, needle mold, thimble mold, flask of water.. could it be piece of mithril instead of mithril bits?
Did you put them in the forge in Felwithe? Are you a High Elf? Can the guy who successfully made them indicate if they were trivial or not at whatever skill level?
The other night i made a pair of imbued arms quite nice for clerics. Actually really nice for clerics and pally's.
Plate mold(not full plate)+ 2 folded sheets of HQ ore+ Leather backing+ chain jointing+ sea temper+ smithy hammer+ and imbued item of the wearers god.
The stats on the pair of arms i made are AC11 Wis 4 Dex 2 STA 2. Quite frankly the second highest wis arms i have seen besides Planer and the Hole drops a pair of 7wis arms.
Huzzah! Proud of you, and kuddos for your post, please verify that you used a plains pebble, I assume so in that your title said the deity was Karana. Here are my notes on all the deities and gems involved in imbueing armor. It keeps growing and changing. The adding of Karana as a Qeynos based deity may be premature on my part, please clarify who worships Karana, humans, I presume. The other gem would be a black saphire, much harder to get than the relatively plains pebble, which comes already imbued when foraged in the Karanas (where else)
GENERAL NOTES ON IMBUED ARMOR: These are for race specific smithing recipes. The needed spells are available in the shaman or cleric guilds of the home cities of each race. Each race has a limited number of deities worshipped, and the spells for these deities alone are sold. The gem used with the spell and for the armor is specific for a deity, and will define who can wear the armor. It is not clear if gems other than the deities of the home city can be used. There is no discussion of this on any boards, and all imbued recipe lists include only the deities of the home city of the smith. Agnostics cannot wear imbued armor. All this is easy to forget.
Imbued stones, and deity: Ivory - The Tribunal (verified), dropped by mobs, Sarnakan in Kunark, (Barbarians in Halas), vendors sell for 9pp when they have them, unimbued. Imbue ivory is level 34 spell, mana cost 232, 15pp at shaman guild Halas. Jade - Rallos Zek, gem dealers, 4pp. (Barbarians in Halas), spell costs 12pp. Amber - Cazic Thule, gem dealers, 3pp,l spell costs 12pp Sapphire – Innoruuk, gem dealers, 105pp, spell costs 12pp Plains Pebble– Karana, (foraged) Diamond - Mithaneal Marr. Rare drop, 211pp (not sure where this price comes from, perhaps what a vendor sells for when a player sells it. Black sapphire - Bertoxxulous, 105pp, dropped? Peridot - Bristlebane, gem dealers, 11pp. Black diamond - deity? Rare drop? (Human at Freeport) Black Pearl - Prexus, gem dealer, 21pp Blue diamond - ? Vendor sells for 210-250pp. Reported to be dropped in Sebilis, and plane of hate. You can buy blue diamond in FV for about 210pp. Used by HEF to enchant Mithril. Emerald - Tunare. Gem dealer, 13.6pp Opal - Rodcet Nife. Gem dealer, 18pp Star Rose Quartz?/Rose Quartz - Erollise Marr. Gem dealer, 1pp Ruby - Brell Serilis. Gem dealer, 131pp Topaz - Quellious. Gem dealer, 5.2p
Using Imbue spells: The jewel is picked up with the cursor, and then the spell is clicked on with the cursor.
Imbuing by race: these are gems for deities associated with specific races, probably incomplete, this list only as a cross reference for above list which is main one you should be looking at.. Barbarian: ivory, jade Dwarf: jade (for imbue berrylium), ruby HEF: blue diamond, and emerald for Mithril Human, Qeynos: emerald, ruby Human, Freeport: black pearls, plains pebbles Iksar: amber, jade Ogre: Jade, Ivory Dark Elf, Teir’dal: sapphire Wood Elf: emerald
Halfling druids are followers of Karana, and can imbued plains pebbles. Furthermore, the halfling Vale leather armor can be imbued with +stm and +wis stat by using a imbued plains pebbles. See post under tailoring for information on Imbued Vale studded armor if interested
Actually i think Druids can also worship Karana. It is the Mother of all. So i would also add Elf Helf and Erudites. Because my armor states that Human Erud Helf and Elf can wear the piece and since it is plate only clerics pally's warrior and bard that worships Karana can wear it. Yes it was a plains pebble but your notes say to pick the pebble up with the cursor and click. i think i just left mine in my inventory and clicked on the spell.
You left out Fire Opals, stone of Solusek Ro. I'm a Human Wizard and have the spell and a fire opal but no idea how to use it if I enchant it (surely I cannot make plate armor as there are no worshipers of Solusek Ro who can wear plate!).
On a side note, although I have only seen fire opal by drop prior to last night, it seems that half the vendors in Thurgadin have them for sale. Either the Frost Giants drop them in droves or they are available in Velious from vendors.
Anyone know anyhting other than that there is a "Erud's forge" in both erudin and paineel about erudin specific armor? Email any findings plz to Frog_boy16@hotmail.com
Karnom, This is how you make an Enchanted Folded Sheet of metal and i imagine all the rest will follow just as normal. First for humans you need a Jacnith for each Large brick of HQ ore that you are going to use. You need a 49plus enchanter to enchant each brick. If you need to help your enchanter friend find the spell as i did it is only sold in Freeport and i had to go in and get it because he was KOS. But i have one Enchanted Lg HQ brick of ore because i only had one Jacnith. Hope that helps.
these recipes I have: Folded sheet of metal: block of ore, water, smithy hammer, cost to make 5pp Forged High via enchant steel spell
quality folded sheet metal: combine in regular forge: high quality block of ore, water, smithy hammer. Cost to make 10pp. Confirmed by Gzar Zigdog. Used in Seafarer armor, humans at Freeport.
So it looks like human freeport smiths are in for some nice stuff, imbued is verified as makeable, and we now have a viable path to enchanted seafarer armor.
The Enchanted HQ blocks of ore are for the Qyenos Forge not freeport forge. Just wanted to correct you there. Feild plate and the Seafarers stuff is Freeport and the Full plate both enchanted and non enchanted is To be done in Qyenos. Since i have made pieces at both places imbued feild plate in freeport and it did not work in Qyenos and the Platinum Full BP in qyenos tried another in Freeport and they both said wrong forge. So make sure you split them up.
i am a encanter but i am skilling in blacksmithy and jewels but i am lvl 8 i will soon get ther but your probley a lighty and me darkies will kill you all so beware i am avg at blacksmity and bad at jewels i spent over 500p at both and soon will spend 500 more when i get it hehe and i am watching you with me sk darkie hee boom! and dont warry me a nice man but i been killed as a gnome to many times,do to 300mhz now i play with 900 and i play on talon see you ther and die foos
Im a half elf on the torv server who is a master smith. I have yet to see anyone post any Blacksmith recipes for half elves did Varant for get about us?
Half-elves are not a real race, they are half human and half elf. It's part of being a halfbreed. They have no culture, no city, etc., because they are not an actual race.
I contacted a gm the other day about this issue. He stated the as far as he knew half elves would have their own racial armor in the velious expansion. I have been unable to substantiate this as of yet.
I have been looking in all of the previously posted spots, and after 2 weeks am still unable to loacte charcoal. If anyone has found it first hand, please let me know...
I have had good luck finding russet oxide and iron oxide off the elementals in Steamfont.
I have also found swirling mists on the mist elementals.
In all the time I have spent in Steamfont (MANY RL hours) I have collected around 30 dye components or so. The majority are just as you said, iron oxide, russet oxide, and occasionally sac fungus. In all that time I have received 3 (read 10%) charcoals, 2 off earth eles and 1 off a steam ele. They are an extremly rare drops and I have never found any on the ground (like the other dye components around the gears).
I know that doesn't help you find it any faster, I just hope it helps you to know that you are not alone :) Good Luck!

The Recipe Alla has listed doesnt' combine. Checked the componets 3 times for accuracy and the Royal Forge would not combine. =(
Reciepe from Eqtraders suggests using Enchanted folded MQ sheet. IMHO any recipe requring enchanted metal isn't worth the cost to make..
BTW, Rangers love Ornate chain legs. Price on them about 75pp (25pp per ring). A good way to get Ore is to just zone in Perma or Sol A and offer 3pp per small brick or HQ ore and 7pp for large. Most would be glad to sell to get rid of weight.
I am thrilled at the prospect of making Reinforced Leather Armour. I went to Kelethin to obtain the Feir'Dal Mithril making book, however there is nothing about how to obtain the necessary Mithril to make it.
Does anyone have ideas on where to obtain Mithril?
Also, does the "enchant steel" spell work for enchanting the steel for Steel Reinforced Leather Armour? If so, that would be awesome!
I saw on www.everlore.com that there is a lvl. 49 enchanter enchant steel. I was wondering if that would enchant my armor to make it magic and add str. , hp, etc.
It uses a Jacinth to enchant HQ ore. All enchanting is done prior to finished armor. We need posts from people that have enchanted anything first hand.
I saw on www.everlore.com that there is a lvl. 49 enchanter enchant steel. I was wondering if that would enchant my armor to make it magic and add str. , hp, etc.
Fungus Man Trackers and their spores in Innothule Swamp drop Sarcoscypha Fungus. I was wondering are these a needed dye component? They are very easy to get. Any help would make this Troll Apprentice Smith very happy.
Hello all! I found a recipie on eqtraders.com, and decided to use some of my downtime to rampage, or rather have my pet rampage, through Permafrost Keep, gathering HQ ore. HQ ore, it seems, is used in making Ornate Chainmail: It has bronze's AC with banded's weight. Tonight, with a 177 skill, I managed to smith an Ornate Chainmail Tunic, stats on it being AC 17, wt 7, medium sized, not trivial at 177, got it on my first try. Not certain what it looks like, as I am a Necromancer. Also smithed Ornate Chainmail Leggings (AC 9, forgot the weight, sorry...), and they were trivial. The recipie for Ornate Chainmail is as follows: 1 smithy hammer (normal, not cultural), 1 flask of water, 1 non-enchanted silver bar, the appropriate pattern piece/size, and HQ metal rings (1 for the Gorget, Veil, and Bracers, 3 for the Tunic, Cloak and Legs, and 2 for everything else). HQ Metal Rings are smithed by taking 1 large brick of HQ ore, 1 file, and 1 flask of water in the forge. A large brick of HQ ore is made by putting 3 small bricks of HQ ore and a flask of water into the forge. HQ ore drops from goblins in Permafrost Keep and Solusek's Eye as semi-rare drops. If you play your cards right, you can make this armor fairly cheaply, as the only things being bought are the patterns, the water, and the silver. Hope this helps any smiths out there! Now, the question is, is this the fabled dyable chainmail?
You actually use Chainmail Patterns. They are sold in North Qeynos and Neriak, as well as the High-Elven city (I'm a Dark Elf, I don't know the name :p). Hope this helps!
Besides ornate armor that all smiths can make, humans in freeport use it for some weapons and armor. Also the only steel ore for which there is a known enchanter spell.
small piece of hq ore needed by halfling smiths to make the useless (bugged) vale sewing kit.
You mention here that ALL smiths can make ornate chain. I am a barb shaman smithy and can not make this chain. Is there a specific forge in qeynos that I use to make this ornate chain? If it is the royal forge I am told that you must be human to use this forge. Can you clear up my confusion?
It is a tailoring skill. See web links under tailoring, full details are given. Unmakeable at this time because the vale sewing kit is bugged, only 2 slots, not to mention problems finding small pieces hq ore.
I combined the everything list and hit combined. All I got was a small normal tailoring kit. I used Mithril Bits, Thimbal Mold, Needle Mold, and water. Any Ideas?
I heard that this was broken but not sure. Also have you tried all the components on the wood elf forage in kelethin. I don't think it allows the water flask maybe if you use morning dews instead there it will make. Or maybe a morning dew on the regular ones. Im right there with ya though. I wish there were more info on this stuff. Well good luck. Let us all know if you figure it out.
Could somone tell me please where the stormguard forge is. Also where do you get the Imbueing spell in Kaladim. It seems to me the dwarves just got a hand up in the game and I dont wanna get left out. thanks
The spell to imbue Ruby, what is needed for followers of Brell, is found in the clerics guild in Kaladim... down the tunnel past the bank in the second zone of Kaladim. ;)
the forge is located next to the Warrior guild hall, right next to the good old forge at Redfist's (?). You really cant miss it, go to the little pool next to the arena, and you will see 2 forges side by side. and as for the spell, uh, um, dunno, D'oh...
Wurg need da recipie, if der is one, for Enchanted or Imbued ogre war plate (not splintmail), any piece. If anyone out der knows of a working recipie pleez let wurg know!
did yous try looking for dat before yous posted knarmon? ogre war plate is der, but not enchanted or imbued plate. on eqtraders and here der is info on imbued SPLINTMAIL, but no plate. but maybe wurg is just missing a obvious link to a page wif all da info me need, if so pleez post it Knarmon and me offer wurgs apology.
Ah shucks, sorry Wurg, i wasn't feeling too well yesterday, got impatient. Imbued stuff big time problem for all the smiths. If you want to experiment, Jade (rallos zek) and ivory (the tribunal) are the gems to fiddle with, find a shaman to imbue it, and just add it to the recipe for the plain war plate. The gem defines who can wear the armor. You be big time famous all the world over if you succeed.
As for enchanted, the known recipes are so weird and bizzare no way will you figure it out by trial and error. Maybe if you scratch head real big time, and look at what is published on those other web sites you might get a clue, but methinks you just throw lots of platinum away with enchanted. Finding a level 50 enchanter is other big time problem.
Knarmon who catches flack all the time for trying to be helpful.
I have looked all over gfay for several hours looking for evergreen leaves. Does anyone know if they have a set spawning point and/or where it is? At first I was told it was foraged and spent 5 hours trying to forage them... That was no fun =( Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance :)
For a number of Northman armor it says I need Medium Qualilty Rings, WHERE CAN I FIND THEM OR WHAT ARE THEY MADE OUT OF?! Also, when making fine Plate armor, Where do you get or how do you make the Leather Backing? Any help would be VERY helpful to me
now for second question you asked, on Northman armor: (this has RECENTLY been posted in entirety also. Please read prior posts)
Here is the full scoop. Check out allakhazam's pages on barbarian armor and weapons for pics and more uptodate info.
Component sources for Barbarian specific smithing:
Ringmail patterns: They look like tailoring patterns. Costs are 600c to 10pp per pattern. Halas: Lundia, second floor of McDaniel's smokes in Halas. North Qeynos, Connie Link, outside of Ironforge Estates. Neriak - Third Gate 695, -1775 Draan N'Ryt Ore, Teir'Dal Smithy Hammer, and Chainmail Pattern Vendor Coif 5002c, Veil 1876c, Neck 625c, Tunic 10,003c, Mantle 8153c, cloak 5002c, skirt 2510c, sleeve 5002c, bracelet 2501c, glove 8753c, Pant 8753c, boot 8753c
Smithy hammer: reusable
Frost temper: vendors have been seen selling for 31pp, otherwise cost is 81c for brandy, and camping time. Brandy (81c), ice goblin blood (dropped by ice goblins, vendors sell for 1.7pp), 2 essences of winter (Ice Giants in Everfrost). Verified recipe. Hang out around ice giant castle far east edge of Everfrost zone, and auction for ice goblin blood (offer 1-2pp), and essence of winters (offer 10-20 pp)
Leather armor: 1.3 to 3.4pp most pieces sold by Cindl at Mac’s kilts. Missing items available in sewing and leather shop in South Qeynos in medium size, I suggest you use medium sized patterns with them.
Imbued ivory: vendor sells for 9pp when they have been sold it, otherwise cost is time camping ivory and payment of shaman. The spell is not expensive, available in shaman guild in Halas. You take plain ivory, hold one on cursor, and click on spell. It is transformed to imbued ivory. Imbued jade: from gem dealers, closest one to Halas is the gembox at iron forge estates, North Qeynos, 4 pp, get shaman to imbue it for you. Medium Quality Rings. Large Brick of Medium Quality Ore (wt 14), File, and Water in the NORTHMAN forge. (trivial <175 reported) used for Imbued Northman Armor. At smith skill 178, 5 successes on 6 attempts. Medium quality rings icon looks like metal bits but do not stack, weigh 4.0. When players have sold to them, vendors sell for 6.1pp, when forged costs 2pp. 1 to 3 needed per piece of Northman Ringmail. My notes conflict and say use regular forge, do northman forge first, you get components back if wrong forge. Medium Quality Large Brick Ore: wt 14, vendor bought in High Hold Keep near bank, about 7pp. Does not stack, icon is a silvery brick. Oak shaft: April at McPherson’s bloody blade 1,250c Weapon Molds: Javelin, Longblade, dagger, thin blade, axe head, halbard, curved blade, mace, throwing knife, shurikin, throwing axe, hammer head, spear, pick, oak shaft, Felwithe -80, -415 Opal Leganyn Weapon Molds Vendor, North Qeynos 25, 55 Dren Ironforge Weapon Molds Vendor, Kaladim 400, -160 Bndainy Everhot Weapon Molds Vendor, upstairs, West Freeport -175, -345 Jynsa Smithson Weapon Blade Molds Vendor, Halas: April at McPhersons has new weapon molds. Enchanting chainmail: conjectures: Have an enchanter use Enchant Steel on the large bricks prior to making rings. The spell requires a Jacinth and the Ore to work.
NORTHMAN RINGMAIL/CHAINMAIL/MCMANNUS CLAN NORTHMAN RINGMAIL: Looks like banded armor. Classes: WAR, CLR, PAL, RNG, SHD, BRD, ROG, SHM Races: HUM, BAR, ERU, ELF, HIE, DEF, HEF, IKS
(Probably wrong): Number of rings will vary according to armor type. Following other race specific armor pattern: If recipe below by items fails, try this list. 1 ring: belt, coif, boots, bracer, neck, mantel, mask 2 rings: cloak, gloves, sleeve 3 rings: legs, tunic
This list from imbued, AC, wt’s, number of rings may be all wrong, but using as template for corrections later on. Non verified refers to recipe for imbued is inferred. 1 mq ring items: Visor: smithy hammer, frost temper (31pp), large chain visor pattern (2p), large leather visor (1.3p), 1 medium quality ring (6p). AC 6, wt 2.0. Collar (gorget): smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain collar pattern (0.6p), large leather collar (1.6p1 medium quality rings. Non-verified. AC 7 Bracer: smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain bracer pattern (2.5p), large leather bracer (1.6p), 1 medium quality rings. AC 8
2 mq ring items: Helm: smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain helm pattern (5p), large leather helm (2.1p),, 2 medium quality rings. Non-verified. AC 10 Pauldron (shoulder): smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain pauldron pattern (8.1p), large leather shoulders (2.3p), 2 medium quality rings. AC 8 Girdles (belt): smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain skirt pattern (2.5p), large leather belt (1.8p), 2 medium quality rings. AC 8, wt 3.5 Vambrace (sleeves): smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain sleeve pattern (5p) , large leather sleeves (2p), 2 medium quality rings. AC 9 Gauntlets: smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain glove pattern (8.8p), large leather gloves (2.3p), 2 medium quality rings. Non-verified. AC 9 Boots: smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain boots pattern (8.8p), large leather boots (3p?), 2 medium quality rings. AC 8
3 mq ring items: mail (chest): smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain mail pattern (10p), large leather tunic (3.4p), 3 medium quality rings. AC 17, wt 8.5, non trivial at 168 (player report stats) Splinted cloak: smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain splinted cloak pattern (5p), large leather cloak (2.3p), 3 medium quality rings. AC 9 Greeves (legs): smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain greeves pattern (9.7), large leather legs (3p), 3 medium quality rings.
IMBUED NORTHMAN RINGMAIL/CHAINMAIL ARMOR. Also known as MCMANNUS CLAN IMBUED NORTHMAN RINGMAIL For imbued ringmail AC is 2 greater than banded, and str +1, wis +2, cold resist +2 are same for every item of armor (at least for tribunal worshipers). Uniongreystorm’s success rate at skill level 180 is about 90% I suspect from his comments, based on at least several complete sets made. Recipe is same as for non-imbued except imbued gem is added. Non-verified means recipe is deduced from other recipies. Only tribunal worshipers can use imbued ivory armor. The tribunal Classes: WAR BRD ROG SHM Races: HUM BAR HEF. Rallos Zek worshipers can only use imbued jade armor. One author adds Erudites, Elves, and may reflect imbued jade amor.
In list below total cost to make assumes 9pp for imbued ivory, 31pp for frost temper, and 6pp for rings, so actual costs may be 44pp less than calculated if you camp for these, and forge the rings (unlikely you will buy many rings). I use these numbers as a ROUGH assignment of time value of camping/etc. If you come by these components in course of hunting, auctioning, gifts from friend costs are obviously lower. Total costs to make this armor are actually somewhat trivial, and they can sell for several hundred pp. Time and demand are factors that drive up prices.
Selling Imbued Northman Armor: I decided to make this just for my own needs, and friends on request, as so much time is needed to make with so much hassle getting components, it is just not a general money maker. The armor has a nitch use. I use imbued northman chain mail when skilling up in trades due to wisdom stats. In general outside of class restrictions, fine plate is preferable. Northman Ringmail is wearable by shaman and fine plate is not, so that represents a market, for those that want something between banded and totemic armor. I’m taking the tack of telling people to hunt the components up, ice gob blood, essence of winter, ivory, and large bricks MQ ore. I take care of finding imbuers, making the temper, forging the rings, and they risk cost of failures, and I get a tip for the effort of at least 20pp, which lowers their cost quite a bit.
You should take the stance of fair profit. If you look at competing armors you could charge up to 250 pp as an upper limit per item, from an average price for Totemic and see what the market bears. A full set will give you 26 wis, 13 str, 26 cold resist and ac of 122. If you sell, the following seems reasonable: 1 ring items 80-990pp, 2 ring items, 100-120pp, 3 ring items 140-160pp.
1 mq ring items:
Visor: smithy hammer, frost temper (31pp), large chain visor pattern (2p), large leather visor (1.3p), imbued ivory (9p), or jade, 1 medium quality ring (6p). AC 6, wt 2.0. str +1, wis +2, cold resist +2. Total cost to make 50pp. Trivial >175.
Collar (gorget): smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain collar pattern (0.6p), large leather collar (1.6p), imbued ivory or jade, 1 medium quality rings. Non-verified. AC 7, str +1, wis +2, cold resist +2, total cost to make 48pp.
Bracer: smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain bracer pattern (2.5p), large leather bracer (1.6p), imbued ivory or jade, 1 medium quality rings. AC 8, str +1, wis +2, cold resist +2, total cost to make 50pp. Trivial is <178
2 mq ring items:
Helm: smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain helm pattern (5p), large leather helm (2.1p), imbued ivory or jade, 2 medium quality rings. Non-verified. AC 10, str +1, wis +2, cold resist +2. Total cost to make 59pp.
Pauldron (shoulder): smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain pauldron pattern (8.1p), large leather shoulders (2.3p), imbued ivory or jade, 2 medium quality rings. AC 8, wt 4.5. str +1, wis +2, cold resist +2. Total cost to make 64pp. Trivial >175)
Girdles (belt): smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain skirt pattern (2.5p), large leather belt (1.8p), imbued ivory or jade, 2 medium quality rings. AC 8, wt 3.5, str +1, wis +2, cold resist +2, total cost to make 57pp. Trivial >175
Vambrace (sleeves): smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain sleeve pattern (5p) , large leather sleeves (2p), imbued ivory or jade, 2 medium quality rings. AC 9, str +1, wis +2, cold resist +2, wt 5.0. Total cost to make 57pp. Trivial >178
Gauntlets: smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain glove pattern (8.8p), large leather gloves (2.3p), imbued ivory or jade, 2 medium quality rings. Non-verified. AC 9, str +1, wis +2, cold resist +2. Total cost to make 63pp.
Boots: smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain boots pattern (8.8p), large leather boots (3p?), imbued ivory or jade, 2 medium quality rings. AC 8, str +1, wis +2, cold resist +2, wt 4.0. Total cost to make 64pp.
3 mq ring items: mail (chest): smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain mail pattern (10p), large leather tunic (3.4p), imbued ivory or jade, 3 medium quality rings. AC 17, wt 8.5. str +1, wis +2, cold resist +2, total cost to make 72pp.
Splinted cloak: smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain splinted cloak pattern (5p), large leather cloak (2.3p), imbued ivory or jade, 3 medium quality rings. AC 9, str +1, wis +2, cold resist +2, wt 5.0. Shaman in particular will want northman imbued cloaks. Total cost to make 65pp. Probably can sell for as much as 275pp to shaman.
Greeves (legs): smithy hammer, frost temper, large chain greeves pattern (9.7), large leather legs (3p), imbued ivory or jade, 3 medium quality rings. str +1, wis +2, cold resist +2 total cost to make 70pp.
This has been posted before, even more complete, for those that read this board regularly. To new people, always read old posts, prior pages, there are 16 pages now! Look at Allakhazam's web sites. I've been criticized for posting so much, but I figure you asked the question honestly and while I tell you how to search existing resources, I might as well answer the question. Subject lines are usually a reliable guide when searching for a topic.
Here are some of my notes on fine plate, email me knarf16@aol.com if you want my full smithing document. Do not make this below skill level 175, you just waste lots of money with failures. Minimum skill level 165 if you can stand the losses.
FINE STEEL/PLATE RECIPES: Molds come in sizes (small, medium, large, if like banded, medium molds are unlabeled as to size), match to wearer. Cost to make entire set 620pp. Verify costs to your situation. You may save 10pp or more per piece of armor using a high charisma character to make your purchases. Have supply of leather backing, MQ folded sheet metal on hand, other components should be available near forge for purchasing. Selling prices noted have a range, the lower range I sell to friends, and is a deliberate decision so I don’t bankrupt myself with generosity. Wt=medium wt. Cost=cost to make.

Dash says that he can verify the steam front site. Halas: at bloody blades
Forged smithy hammer: there was one reported recipe, I could not get it to work, no other reports anywhere since then, I would assume it is not forgable, and that the recipe was a hoax or error. Hammers are readily purchased. Race Specific Smithy hammer: Not needed for fine plate. See under individual races, only a few races use these, barbarians don’t. Every race has very specific circumstances, that are surprisingly unique, and hammers are not always even needed. Do not use a race specific hammer for fine plate; you will lose all your ingredients.
Components needed to make fine plate/steel:
