in faithful memories..

My first ever playing experience on EQ was with Rallos Zek server. I started a Halfling Druid name of Icythus, hence the name im using to write this. He became sort of a "god" around Misty Thicketwith quite a little band of PKing buddies. Known as Belc, Helc, Michelson, Gnommy, Muttilz, and myself, long with various others now and then. We would get in a group of six, or less, whatever was available and who was on-line. We were all lvls 10-15 at least...if anyoe wanted to join us they had to be at least 9.

anyway, we would randomly hunt and kill EVERY sngle person that conned in range, and to the younger members of or groups, the highers would back tem up when they had a lowbie con for the highers. we tarted to score some really sweet gear, all becoming a much feared uber PK tag team. most difficultto kill would be the clerics, since they blind the **** outta ur *** and u cant see to cast or attack or run or hide gear in bags. was probably themo fun i will ever have in EQ, and wish it would go back to these old days...one person i forgot to mention wasmy best buddy in the game, Beiffon..luv u dude, ur my bro.

well, eventually i got tired of the non-stop ganking, Pking, whatever we did, and moved to the much easier "carebear blue" servers, Povar in particular. I brought back to Rallos tales of amazing oppurtunities on the blue servers, and eventually got quite a few of them to try it or to switch.

of course they all made fun of me and even killed me a few times, which i guess was OK because i eventually retired my Rallos character and gave all the gear to my friends, righ after i killed each and every one of them, some of em two or three times, just because i had better equip and could. :P

well, it may sound like im putting Rallos down a bit, but im not at ALL. Rallos isa oneof a kind xperience, and I rccommend it to ayone and everyone, but one thing to remember..watch out for them dmn rogues whenever u sit somewhere, no matter what...and wizzies in mass can be the most dreaded thing in the whole game, trust m i started one, and that lightning a newbie lvls will **** u up BIG time without proper buffs and MR.

again, i say good luck to yo all, and hope u have a good time..write me at Wesco5915@aol.com if u remember me or hav anything to say or ask me.

This server rocks, everyone knows that pk servers make better players that learn to survive from much more than the typical npc characters. It adds a bit of intrigue. Say for instance someone in my group, not my guild, is telling me a wiz how to use my spells. If they really annoy me I can zap em to show em how well I use my spells. It's great being able to zap the annoying without asking their permission first. Yet you don't want to try and kill everyone who says something you don't like, not a good way to make friends and lvl high.

Sublimity

p.s. for any wizards reading this you don't need to blast someone you don't like just trick them into joining your group for a sec then port them anywhere you're not.

Starting A New Group On This Server
# Jan 21 2002 at 6:41 PM Rating: Decent
Hi all, I started playing on this server for the first time and I've learned that it is tuff. really tuff.
I get jumped and attacked when I'm weak, and all that other good stuff. But I still think PVP can be alot of fun.

I'm looking to form a team from 5-10 players who like to play. I'm not looking to have some huge guild or anything like that. Just players to grow together and watch each others back. We will share all knowledge with each other, and help each other out on quests and all that good stuff. There are some conditions for the team below.

1. We all will be starting with new characters.
2. When more than one of us is online, we only group
with our own team memberes only.
3. Learn to play with each other together so our
strength comes from playing together from our
skill instead of our numbers.

Thats it! If your interested email me the type of character you want to play, and we will set up a time we can talk together. I'm looking to be organized to go within 1 to 2 weeks.

Once again I'm not looking to form some huge guild or anything like that, our power will come from growing together and learning how one another plays together.

If this sounds like something you want to do email me

Illusions?
# Jan 16 2002 at 1:17 AM Rating: Decent
I was thinking about making an Enchanter on a PvP server. Only for their illusions, stuns and mezzes. First, I would like to know if illusions stay on while you are attacking/casting at a player. Sencond, I know you can't fear or charm people, but can you mezz them? Thanks all!
RE: Illusions?

I play a lvl 18 Chanter and yes illusions do stick while fighting, casting etc...some of them wear when you zone but most of them don't take too much mana to recast..illusions are great if you are in a zone that you are KOS in you can become something that is not KOS...but one of the best things about being a chanter is: you get meditate VERY early, you get root and invis as well as see invisi plus you get the enchant meatal spells which is nice if you are a jewelry maker (which you should be as a chanter) the whirl till you hurl spell is lots of fun against pkers...(they hate it) and if you don't like your pet you can always charm a better one...(can you say griffawn??) plus the damage spell are pretty high...not as high as the wizzies but they don't get pets either...hope to see a new chanter soon!! luv Lumi

Yes you can mez players. Fairly certain illusions dont fade when attacking but ive never played a chanter.
PvP and Hide
# Dec 28 2001 at 12:38 PM Rating: Good
So... If you ae targetedand someone is casting a spell... can ya thumb the Hide hotkey, remove yourself from their targeting and ***** up the hoax? or Like while you are meleeing can ya tun off Auto and hit hide and run while they are trying to re-target ya?

Well, pvping with a Rogue lets say, is kinda strange... I don't quite understand it yet either. SO, I thought I'd have a little fun playing around with a enchanter, so I went weaponless, what was kinda weird was that when I Hide/Sneaked...I was able to attack the enchanter without going uninvis!! Dunno what was up, it might just be like that when ya don't wear a weapon? *shrug*
About hitting Hide/Sneak when someones casting on you, it doesn't work, if they begin casting, they're most likely gonna finish it off...
Hope it helped a little 8)

Does it ever get better?
# Dec 11 2001 at 7:30 AM Rating: Decent
I play on PvP some times when im bored on my blue server and all I can get from it is a bunch of 13 year olds running around in the newbie area with their twink PKing everyone. In the higher level is it differant? Is it just a bunch of high levels running around trying to PK eachother or do people actualy fight for a reason?

It does get better. The higher you level the harder it is for someone to PK you. Skill becomes more important than just blast and gank.

I would submit the best fighters come from Rallos. I notice however that they rarely compete in any tournaments with their Rallos Zek characters, yet they win them with thier little Bluebee Carebare server alts. (BETTER GEAR)

Rallos is absolutely the most fun I have had with Everquest.

That is just my two copper.

KomidoDi and the rest,

In answer to your question...Yes and No.

Rallos Zek is kind of an odd server, and even when I play on my alternate server, I am constantly looking over my back.

Basically it comes down to this. Everyone has potential to Player Kill you, and some will take that opportunity (at lower levels, probability increases, especially if you are twinked), and some decide to aid. There are 3 different types of players on this server. There is the "goodies" those that when they see someone low on health during a fight and in range for PvP will aid in the fight. There are the "Gankers", those that are opportunists and see somone low on health while fighting and take pot shots to get some easy loot. Then there are "Player Killers" whom like the loot, but have a little higher standard than "Gankers" and will not only kill players low on health during battle, but will also attack players while full health.

Some take up arms and join guilds that actively hunt/kill pkers, some join up with "PK Guilds" and others join guilds that will play the game (PvE) and thump Pkers or known pkers when they come around.

The difference between the "blue" servers and here, is that the low level twinked players will lose gear, and quite often most of it. Your fighting style is alot different on Rallos than on the other servers because if you are 50% health, you are inviting someone to take an item and all your cash. I notice when I play on the blue servers, I still tend to run or try to escape when im 50% health because I still have the feeling I will get ganked. Its a constant game of looking over your shoulder and watching for the person who is looking for a good place to stick their knife (and I dont only meen Rogues).

Basically once you play long enough, you will know who are the player killers, and guilds that kill players, and those that are non player killers and whom you can trust. At higher levels, you dont worry as much about random player killers, because they tend to gain a stigma of being a Player Killer, and they can forget about grouping with anyone other than their guild, or another Player Killer (though there probably isnt a whole lot of trust among each other) Basically if you PK, you have a very tough time leveling over 50 unless you associate yourself with a Player Killing guild, and you then have removed the anonomous pking element.

Usually PvP at higher levels is reason based, whether it be war, or over a dispute or action someone took against you or another player/friend/guildmate. Those PvP battles can be fierce and long lasting grudges can be built between a set of players.

I have played on Rallos Zek since the game was released, and one thing remains constant. If you are low on health, you have a GREAT chance of getting killed especially if you are wearing droppable gear or a popular item (such as Shiny Metallic Robe, or known droppable show armor). It adds an element of fun in itself to know that you constantly have to be ready for fighting regardless of where or when.

I gotta question. Whats da err...protocals when dealing wit other players? Can ya trust anyone at all?

Fer instance Im a dorf warrior and I gots jumped by a d@mn woodelf (trecherous gits) in BB yesterday see? in da middle a fight wit a creature no less and I was already down to two bubbles of health so I runs and makes it to da gaurds. Whils Im sittin there restin and tradin rude comments wit 'im (hes twinked of course..da weedy git) anuther woody comes along an' hes higher level an' he heals me an' says

"go on kick 'is silly PKing butt an' Ill heal ya"

So I do an' he does an' I git me gold an' some crapy armor off da dum woody.

Den on my way back to Kaladim not 5 minutes later I gets jumped by a dorf chick BOOM no "high hows it goin" nuthin! Least she coulda bought me dinner sheesh!

Da point is: is there no limits? Is it everyone fer themselves? How ya supposed ta group if ya got to watch out fer everyone you can group wit?

Well I learned my leasons: elves are GITS! to themselves an' everyone else an' dont trust noone!

I extend a hearty and magnanimous invitation to this new section of the Alla boards. As my Kingly obligations and duties demand, I welcome you to post about this server so that others from your land may learn about your guilds, grouping and mob rules, items for sale, the location of friends and comrades, and other pertinent information.

This is a great opportunity to set up meeting places and times for bazaars, raids, wild drunken parties, and weddings.

Post away, all you domesticated cattle!
