 | The Gnome starts off in the far city of Ak'Anon on the continent of Faydwer and generally hunts in the Steamfont Mountains during his or her formative years. Gnomes get their own unique trade skill: tinkering. What is the best strategy for playing a Gnome? What zones and cities should you take him to and which ones should you avoid? Which factions should you work on improving, and which factions should you be wary of decreasing? What are the best quests in Ak'Anon for the beginning Gnome? Where are the best shops in Ak'Anon? How should you role play your gnome?

Gnomes truely are the BEST. They can tinker which I find very fun :) I have a gnome warrior and he rocks. Wouldn't you be afraid of a knee high little person who would easily take off your knees?

I have heard that most gnome classes have good faction everywhere cept with iskar (excluding the gnome sk's and necros) I am a gnome chanter and i am dubious in neriak so the guards still protect me. All the good races accept me. Haven't tried ogre or troll yet buit if they don't like me i cast alliance or wait till lvl 12 and illusion darkelf.

Hey people i am a gnome warrior in my 28th season on the TZ server....i am already doing a quest to be a guild officer and its a lot of fun i like to be unique so a gnome warrior was the way to go people might say that warrior suck for PKing and especially a gnome warrior but if you get a decent 1h weapon and you have the right skills you can be an awsome Pker (not game skills but mental skills) and then there is twinking great for gnome warriors because a rebreather (made by twinking)is needed in the warrior epic....and sells for about 3k! (i think 1k to make) so gnome warrior are awsome!!

Hi little friends,
i was bored to play a tall high elf as a Wizard, i think that gnomes fits to be casters !
My new mage is wonderfull, he is quite invisible even with the spell and he runs like hell .. so its ideal for a caster since we have to run a lot of times to med somewhere safe!
My question would be how do we practice thinkering ... sorry to look ignorant but its my first gnome ... : )

You can tinker at any level, but you have a fixed skill level (50)that wont start to rise with use until you are level 16.

I am a short person addict (I prefer the gnomes and halflings) so I know a bit 'bout them. You can't start tinkering until lvl 16 I think.

AGGRRRR GNOME WARRIORS ARE THE BEST!!!!!!! kinda hard to get the str up but with 20k i got my gnomes str to 202 with a sta of 144. not that bad for a gnome. =D
Yea, not bad at all for 20,000 pp. I have less respect for those who start characters with CRAZY twinks. I mean, hey, twnking is part of the game but how friggin easy can u make it for yourself? I start new characters because I want to try a new deal. Now I make "arrangements" for a few armor pieces or a kewl weapon, but totally outfitting your newbie char with 20,000 pp worth..c'mon.
Dont' get me wrong, Anon poster, this may not be your deal. Your post just gave me a launching point. So, this is not a flame or whatever.

I'd start buying journels they tell you (in an odd way) how to make things they are cheep then i'd mak a collapsable fishing pole tree metal rods and one gnomish bolts. then once your skill goes up you add another metal rod a bottle some metal twine and a reflective shard(i think) You can get all of the items in the steamfont mountains. good luck. say hi if you see me on fennin ro, nildikin

Also Im Lookin for a Wife.can be all races but Iksar, Ogre, Troll, or Dark Elf Cause i cant meet the parents hehe and i just dont find a Hairy mole Pretty or Scally Green Skin. Im goin to be on in Augest because im goin to Vegas on vacation so if you like what you hear send me a tell. im a Gnome Mage lvl 12, i like to kill, kill, and um swim in Freeport and while swimming hehehehe kill pirahnas, i hate High lvl mobs that i cant kill, Kobolds, and Minotaurs. i love Tinkering, and Traveling Norrath. They are going to offer you to see your own char how they appeared in the Everquest-Velious orig. and expansions. Others will see you as the Luclin Model but YOU will see YOU as the original or as the Luclin char skin... so yeah...

I just started a gnome nero and he's great also I'm not to crazy about that Iksar freak gnome friters and gnome skin armour argh

Gnome Necros have one of the best all round go everywhere factions.
All of Fawyder is safe bar the dwarfs who will be threatening to you, so be careful.
Everywhere (even pallys) in fp is safe.
Neriak is safe bar the ghouls that guard the necro guild (use invis to undead) you are safe in the guild itself but they wont train you (still sell though)
Qeynos seemed safe enough when I was there(I think), evil guild is even amiable to you since you both worship bertoxxulous
Erudin I never went to, but I know you can get into paneel no probs.
Trolls are off limit
BUT *Big shock* the ogre shaman guild is only dubious to you :P sk/war guild is threatening and guards are scowling, so al little work and guilds might be ok :)

I have an agnostic gnome wizzy and everywhere i have gone (except for sister island and kunark) the people have treated me nicely. Not always indifferent or better, just not KOS.

necro gnomes are kos in fv and bb hills, although the nice women onthe end of the docks are indifferent to you, so just dont worry about them learned it the hard way, also the pilgrams can see invisible, so be carful

GNomes rule! at levels 1-16 you should tinker fireworks, sell for 4 for 8pp, sell collpsible fishing ole for 20pp and sell animated bait for 1 gp each! Makes a hell lotta money!!

I am a Gnome, and I like it. Never sold fireworks though I have gotten gates by trading them. Don't think many people would pay for them as most people seem to just want to be "uber" and get "phat lewts". You know who I am talking about, the people who "own joo." Anyway, you may find a few fun role players who will buy them. As far as collapsable fishing poles go, I don't know who would pay 20 plat for 1, and if you find people who will, you are ripping them off. Yes I know collapsable fishing poles cost around 7 plat to make, but the only benefit is they weigh a little less. They do not improve your skill (either in fishing or in tinkering since they trivial at 50, which is your base skill), and they are not unbreakable. I do give them out on occasion, as well as fireworks, because I am a Gnome and it is fun and a novelty.
Some of the best online parties I have ever had involved booze, gnomes with tons of fireworks, and duels to the death with all my guildmates.

I have to agree with everyone on this, the new gnomes are going to SUCK! I like the way my gnome looks now, and how all gnomes look. They look cool! If the EQ staff were to see half the posts on this page, they would think twice about changing the gnomes. Gnomes look great the way they do now, like gnomes and not dwarfs. I think we should all petition this. Go Gnomes!

Ok , I just got lvl 18 today on my gnome enchanter . I went to High Keep to get my as many pet spells as I could afford , and deciced to stay and group there awhile . And from my opinnion , this afternoons adventures on gnoll ledge with 5 and of those furry lil devils coming at my group showed me just how invaluable a chanter is to a group in tight guarters . And I have to say ,.... ENCHANTERS Rock !!!!!! ok , I am done now :P
