For an overview and list of EverQuest Anniversary events, see this quest entry.
This is an anniversary quest available only during anniversary season (a few weeks during March and April). It was introduced in 2020 as part of EverQuest's 21th anniversary.
The Emissary of Erollisi is located at -32, -145, -153 in Plane of Knowledge, and is also available in the Find window.
You say, 'Hail, Emissary of Erollisi'
Emissary of Erollisi says, 'Greetings, hero. I see that you have come from faraway lands to witness all the joy our god of love has provided. Blessed be the hearts that [swell] with emotion at the sight of one's desires. Every time a heartbeat quickens when that feeling overtakes someone, well that's where Erollisi Marr resides, within all of us. Even those who hate, still love to hate.'
You say, 'Swell?'
Emissary of Erollisi says, 'Indeed, hero. Our god speaks to us in many ways! However, there is often a type of love that is overlooked during these times that may not be as flashy or as exhilarating as the [love] of the romantic kind, but it is even more important to all of us no matter what corner of the planes we hail from.'
You say, 'Tell me more of this type of love.'
Emissary of Erollisi says, 'That is correct. There is a young maiden in Cabilis who is looking for love, but may be confused as to what the very idea of love is. Mayhap you could embark upon a [quest] to spread the truths of love to this young soul.'
You say, 'What quest?'
You have been assigned the task 'I Guess This Is Growing Up'.
Emissary of Erollisi says, 'Go with love, oh cherished hero. The maiden can be found at Tink N Babble.'
A lovestruck iksar has plead for you to convince her father to let her follow her heart's true desires. However, her father fears that she is impulsively following a feeling she doesn't quite understand yet.
Task Window Says: The emissary suggested trying the Tink N Babble in Cabilis.
The naive iksar is located at 874, -90, 16 in East Cabilis, and is also available in the Find window.
You say, 'Hail, a naive iksar'
A naive iksar says, 'Oh, woe is me, traveler. Do you know what it's like to feel true burning love and passion in your heart yet be unable to grasp it? Of course you do. You've had something you coveted snatched from you by the fates! But instead of tabards, or greaves, or weapons, the fates conspire to keep my [true love] away from me!'
You say, 'Who is your true love?'
A naive iksar says, 'Yes! Oh woe is me. Woe woe woe woe woe! Tell me, have you seen Discuit around? I love him more than air itself, but my father doesn't approve of his doting. My [father] thinks him a playboy but I know in my heart of hearts that he loves me, and I love him!'
You say, 'Tell me more about your father.'
A naive iksar says, 'Father spends all his days at the Lake of Ill Omen, fishing and being a grump. What does he know about love? Does he even understand what love is? Ever since my dear mother passed on, he has been secluded and refuses to see anyone else's side of any arguments. The thrice damned fool refuses to see my side of the story and just says 'this is not for debate' whenever I profess my love for dear Discuit! If only I could reach him somehow. If only someone like you would speak with him and try to convince him to see the error of his ways and to give Discuit a chance! Please, traveler, I can only languish for so long before I lose hope!'
Task Window Says: The naive iksar in Cabilis asked you to speak to her father. He can be found fishing at the Lake of Ill Omen.
The iksar fisherman is located at 962, 48, 77 in Lake of Ill Omen, and is also available in the Find window.
You say, 'Hail, an iksar fisherman'
An iksar fisherman says, 'Keep your voice down! You're scaring away the fish. I've been out looking for the one that got [away] for years and if you mess this up for me, there will be a severe punishment in your future.'
You say, 'Are you talking about a fish or...'
An iksar fisherman says, 'Blast it! Of course I'm talking about a fish! What else could I be talking about? My late wife? She's long been dead and there ain't no bringing her back. So now I'm just a father out here trying to catch a few fish to feed my [family].'
You say, 'Who is your family?'
An iksar fisherman says, 'Yes, it's just my fool-hearted daughter and I trying to make ends meet any way we can. Recently she's taking a shining to a local scoundrel and refuses to see the truth, even though it is laid bare right in front of her. My dear sweet [daughter] thinks she understands the world now that she's an adult. But in the ways of love she is still a child. It breaks my heart to know she gave her mother's brooch to the mongrel. He refused to give it back when I confronted him about it.'
You say, 'I was sent here by your daughter.'
An iksar fisherman says, 'Of course you were. I don't know what she got you roped into, but you must forget what she told you. The one she is in 'love' with is a scoundrel and a wastrel. The boy is known around these parts as someone who breaks hearts. I refuse to let my daughter get involved with someone who doesn't care about her the way she deserves. She's her head in the clouds. I will not change my mind on the subject. This is not up for [debate].'
You say, 'I'm not here to debate.'
An iksar fisherman says, 'Good. I implore you, investigate his goings-on. Then you'll see what I mean. Maybe he's changed his ways. If that is true, I'll change my mind and give her my blessing. He was last seen in Crescent Reach. Now go away! Your loud breathing is scaring the fish!'
Task Window Says: Locate Discuit somewhere in Crescent Reach
Discuit is located at -715, -645, -115 in Crescent Reach, and is also available in the Find window.
You say, 'Hail, Discuit'
Discuit looks you up and down, 'Hey, doll face. What brings you to these [parts]?'
You say, 'I'm here in these parts looking for you.'
Discuit has a suave glint in his eye as he looks you over, 'I can already see myself falling for someone like you. What do you say you meet me at the Fireheart Tavern for a [good time]?'
You say, 'What do you mean by 'good time'?'
Discuit's use of that term leaves you with an unsettling feeling, considering why you are here in the first place. 'Of course, I got some errands I need to run first, but I'll see you when I see you. Say... if you see my friend [Esera], tell her that I'm looking for her.'
You say, 'Where is Esera?'
Discuit says, 'I think I last saw her over at the Fireheart Tavern.'
Esera is located at -1435, -1620, -54 in Crescent Reach, and is also available in the Find window.
You say, 'Hail, Esera'
Esera looks at you inquisitively, 'Oh, hello. Don't get many visitors like yourself around here. What can I help you with?'
You say, 'Tell me about Discuit.'
Esera says, 'What about him? He's a bit too pushy for his own good but aside from that he's an okay guy. Well, so long as you don't give him any of your stuff. He tends to take these baubles people give him very seriously. I think he likes to toy with others to see what he can get away with before they get violent. I'll see to it myself to knock him down a peg if he lays a hand on someone who didn't appreciate his [advances].'
You say, 'He is pretty forward with his advances.'
Esera says, 'Yeah, he flirts with everyone. Men, women, elves, gnomes... I've even once seen him court an ogre from the Celebration House in Shar Vahl, one of the places he likes to hang out if he isn't at the Fireheart Tavern. Why is it that you ask? Oh, wait, are you here because of that fisherman's [daughter]?'
You say, 'Yes, I'm here to talk to him about that man's daughter.'
You have been given: Lilac-Scented Envelope
Esera says, 'Figured as much. I knew it wouldn't be long before his tramp-like behavior got him in trouble with someone's guardian. He's harmless but I can certainly see why people are upset with him. The only reason he no longer flirts with me is because I put him in his place a while back and he respects our boundaries. If you're looking for more information involving his trysts, I suggest you reach out to Shang, his other friend. Take this to Shang and he will know you're ok to talk to. Don't ask where it came from. Even I would rather not know.'
Shang is located at 387, -40, -10 in Crescent Reach, and is also available in the Find window.
You say, 'Hail, Shang'
Shang says, 'Let me guess, you're back because of Discuit?'
Give Shang the Lilac-Scented Envelope.
Shang shifts, his demeanor changing from anger to joy, 'Oh, I see. So you've talked to Esera? I apologize about my outburst; we see a lot of adventurers who like to show up unannounced and be ruthless towards us. I know what this is about. We've both been keeping an eye on [Discuit] to make sure he doesn't step out of line, but I assume you're someone's... parent?'
You say, 'I'm here at the behest of someone's father.'
Shang says, 'Ah, I bet it's that old guy who's doing all the fishing over near Cabilis. He confronted Discuit while he and I were getting drinks one time. He said something about a locket or a brooch or something. After that, I knew we weren't done with the old man. I tried telling Discuit to just give back the thing, cause keeping it is more trouble than it's worth, but he refused. I think it was a point of pride for him. He loves to collect all sorts of trinkets from his hoard of admirers, not exactly sure why. Maybe he likes to remember the people who gave them to him? Maybe he's got a stealing problem? Who knows? For instance, when he stormed out of here, he dropped this [handkerchief]. If you see him, will you bring it to him along with the envelope you gave me?'
You say, 'Of course. Hand the handkerchief over.'
Shang says, 'Hey, thanks. Here. I wasn't in the mood to head to Luclin anyways. I put both of the pieces in that box for you. It should help keep the rest of your junk from smelling like flowers.' Shang gingerly places the envelope and handkerchief into a box and hands it to you.
You receive a box called Discarded Tokens of Affection.
You say, 'Hail, an iksar fisherman'
An iksar fisherman says, 'Did you figure out what's going on with that creep yet? If not, then go away... quietly. I'm still trying to feed a family here.'
Hand him the Discarded Tokens of Affection. He will return them.
An iksar fisherman takes the items from you, 'Ah, you've returned! Let's see what you found.' He sniffs the envelope and looks at the handkerchief. 'These initials are not my daughter's! These are someone else's! As far as this envelope goes, this is clearly a love letter sent to him by one of his admirers. It cannot be from my daughter as she is allergic to [lilacs].'
You say, 'Allergic to lilacs?'
An iksar fisherman says, 'Yes, it was very sad as they were her mother's favorite flower. A group of adventurers were unknowingly infected with a plague when fighting some monster deep within a dungeon. When they emerged, they came to a local tavern to celebrate and in doing so, infected everyone at the tavern. My wife was a server at this tavern and ended up contracting the disease. She withered away and [passed] on before a cure was discovered.'
You say, 'Passed on?'
An iksar fisherman wipes a tear from his cheek, 'This all happened when my daughter was very young. I spent my life trying to raise her the best I could, but I'm out of my depth on this one. She never got over the loss of her mother and I think that is what may be causing this lashing out, because I'm not able to be there for her in this way. I blame myself mostly. Can you bring this to my daughter and let her know what you found? Maybe then she will snap out of her lovelorn trance and [understand] how foolhardy this is.
You say, 'I'll try my best to get her to understand.'
The fisherman hands you the envelope and the handkerchief, 'Thanks. The perfume won't kick up her allergies much. It's the pollen that she's allergic to. I'm sure if you lose that bundle, you can speak to the person who gave it to you in the first place to get another one. And... I really appreciate your help in this adventurer. It means a lot to me.
You say, 'Hail, a naive iksar'
A naive iksar says, 'I just want to follow my heart's desire! Why is this so difficult for people to understand?'
Hand her the Discarded Tokens of Affection. She will return them.
A naive iksar sniffles, her eyes welling up with tears as you approach. 'Wh... What is all this about? Why are you giving me random [trash], discarded by two other people who are clearly in love?'
You say, 'This trash was given to me from Discuit's friends to return to him.'
A naive iksar says, 'That... that doesn't mean anything! It... It cannot be! But he told me he loved me and only me! Why would he [lie] to me like that?!'
You say, 'His lie was meant to trick you.'
A naive iksar is aghast. As she comes to a realization, her eyes brim over with tears. 'Oh, I should have listened to my father! He was right! This scoundrel doesn't love me! He just wanted to lead me along and use me for his own amusement! No more! Adventurer,' she pleads, choking back more tears, 'I desperately need your help getting my mother's [brooch] back!'
You say, 'What brooch?'
A naive iksar speaks, her voice filled with sadness, 'Yes, when Discuit was courting me he asked that I trust him with something that I love to demonstrate that I was serious about our relationship. I foolishly gave him my mother's brooch, which I love more than life itself. I need to get it back! You should bring him the evidence you found as proof of what you discovered and maybe you can convince him to give back the brooch. It's the last thing that my mother gave me before she... before she...' She continues to cry. 'Just, please, adventurer, get my mother's brooch back.'
You will get a location update at the Fireheart Tavern at -1200, -1600, -87 in Crescent Reach.
Task Window Says:The bartender at the Fireheart Tavern told you that Discuit is no longer there, but is instead at his other known hangout.
Discuit is located at -262, -220, -188 in Shar Vahl, and is also available in the Find window.
You say, 'Hail, Discuit'
Discuit says, 'Get out of here. You're cramping my style!'
Hand him the Discarded Tokens of Affection.
Discuit lowers his voice and tries to cover the items you brought him. 'Hey, keep it down! What is wrong with [you]?'
You say, 'I've been looking for you.'
Discuit says, 'I take it you're still looking for that brooch. I'm not going to have this discussion with you here. Head over to [Hollowshade Moor] and we can talk more about this when you get there.'
You say, 'Hollowshade Moor'
Discuit says, 'Thanks, I appreciate it. I'll meet you there.'
Discuit is located at 1227, 3053, 111 in Hollowshade Moor, and is also available in the Find window.
You say, 'Hail, Discuit'
Discuit says, 'You've become a huge pain what with following me around and harassing my friends. What can help you with so you'll leave me alone and we can both be on our merry ways? What is it with this [brooch] that has everyone in such a fuss over it?'
You say, 'It was that woman's mother's brooch and it means a lot to her.'
Discuit takes on an aggressive stance. 'I'm not one to give up my treasures so easily. Are you [sure] there's no way we can resolve this without things getting... messy?'
You say, 'I'm very sure.'
Discuit's bodyguard attacks as Discuit yells, 'Get em!'
Friend of Discuit, a level 115 Ogre, attacks you. Defeat him.
You have been given: Mother's Brooch
Friend of Discuit throws the brooch at you and you catch it in a flourish. 'I surrender! Here, take the stupid brooch! It's not worth all of this! It's a useless hunk of junk anyways! I don't even want it anymore. It's ugly and probably cursed!'
Hand the fisherman the Mother's Brooch.
You have been given: Mother's Note
An iksar fisherman perks up, his eyes brightening, when you hand him the brooch. 'Oh, thank you thank you thank you, adventurer! This means so much to me! I'm so happy to hear that I no longer must worry about that jerk and my daughter. Hopefully she has gained some wisdom from this debacle. Can you do me a final favor? I know you've done so much for us already, but can you please [deliver] this to my daughter?'
You say, 'I will gladly deliver this to her.'
An iksar fisherman says, 'Many thanks, stranger. This is a message written by her mother for when she comes of age. My daughter can really use a talk with her mother, but this will have to be the next best thing. Don't worry about the brooch. I'll give it back to her when I see her again later. I want to make sure it is in pristine condition when she gets it back. Thank you once again, adventurer.'
Task Window Says:Deliver the letter to the naive iksar at the Tink N Babble. However, before you do, perhaps there is someone else who would appreciate this show of love.
NOTE: For the bonus item from this task, give Mother's Note to the Emissary of Erollisi in Plane of Knowledge before delivering it to the naive iksar. Mother's Note will be returned to you, and you will also receive Mom's Love after completing the conversation with the Emissary.
Emissary of Erollisi looks at you with a longing in their eyes. 'Oh, what is this you have? Oh! yes! This was what we were discussing earlier about love. Love comes in many different forms, but a lost love can feel like a dagger being plunged into the heart and can take twice as long to heal. The love that a parent has for their children is sacrosanct, resplendent, and very [complicated] at times.'
You say, 'Complicated how?'
Emissary of Erollisi says, 'Well, at a young age we love our guardians, as they are our protectors. Without that love, we can become bitter, cruel, and dangerous. However, a child's love can sometimes look like hatred, especially when that child decides to rebel against their guardians and act against their wishes. This moment should be considered a [proud] moment of the guardians but is oft perceived as a slight against them.'
You say, 'How can defiance make one proud?'
Emissary of Erollisi says, 'In that moment, it should be recognized as a triumph for the guardian. This being that has wholly depended upon them is now able to make decisions on their own. They are welcome to make their own mistakes at that moment, to learn their own lessons, to become wise without guardians needing to teach them. This means that the child is now curious enough to surpass their guardians, which is the ultimate, yet inevitable goal, of all [guardians].'
You say, 'Then what are guardians to do at that point?'
Emissary of Erollisi says, 'Not much can be done at that point. I suggest staying back and letting the lessons be learned and lending an ear for when the child seeks guidance again. I'm no expert on child rearing, but I do consider myself a bit of an expert on the emotion of love. But I digress... we are a little off topic. This note wasn't meant for me. You should deliver it to the one it was meant for. I can only imagine what the young one must be feeling right now, but these words will help heal the wound in her heart. You've helped them so much already. Go finish what you started, Koryu, and do so with love in your heart. Here, take this as a reminder of your actions today, and as a reminder that Erollisi Marr is always watching over you.'
Finally, hand in Mother's Note to the naive iksar.
You did a good thing today. You helped a family grow together in a world that increasingly stacks the deck against them.
A naive iksar smiles as you approach, 'I can't believe you were able to confront Discuit and get my mother's brooch back. He was so determined to keep it from my father and I that I didn't ever think I would see it again! Thank you so much! Wait, what is this note?' She takes the note and starts to read it, her eyes brimming with tears. 'I'll do just that, mom, just for you. I promise. Thank you, my friend. I guess I have a lot more to learn about this world. Maybe I'll take this time to visit other lands and see more of it before I run headfirst into infatuation. Please, look for me in your adventures sometime. Maybe our paths will cross again.'
Bonus award is "Mom's Love," which casts "Mom's Hug" a blessed rune that protects for 10400 damage. The item has a 23 hr recast delay.
NOTE: For the bonus item from this task, give Mother's Note to the Emissary of Erollisi in Plane of Knowledge (before delivering it to the naive iksar). Mother's Note will be returned to you, and you will also receive Mom's Love after completing the conversation with the Emissary.
