Direwolf Fur Cloak  

What is the trivial for making this cloak?

Just did this one last night. I had soloed dire wolves off and on and never gotten an MQ pelt. Group with some guildies last night and got 3 MQ out of like 10 wolf kills. Just luck it's random. Aquired skinning stones on a couple of different trips through Wastes. They are also random. As long as you haven't been killing the gnolls you should be indifferent. Walked right up with no camo. Tried a hail just to see if he would respond. Nope. Handed over 2 that's two skinning stones and 1 MQ Dire Wolf Pelt and brief message about Ergrez working on tailoring with pelts and such you find the cloak in your inventory. Very easy quest if you aren't going out of your way to do it and just happen upon the stones and pelt.

I just completed this quest a couple minutes ago: 2 skinning rocks, one MQ Dire Wolf skin. Ergriz Shortpaw said nothing, just handed over the cloak.

I found 2 of these rock just walking around back and forth from Ryggor Ft and can use the rocks but could help someone else get it :)

Handed the right things to the right guy... and got Nothing... Nada... Zip... Squat... Not Happy Jan. :(

I rated this as Excellent, simply because you can do this quest without actually fighting anything (auction for the fur) and it takes less than an hour if you get lucky finding the stones.

I did this for my L10 BRD and it Rocks! The only risk factor is running into wandering mobs. Everything in these zone will kill a low level quicker than you can blink.

This may be old news, but I found the rocks at the following locations:

[Fri Jul 20 07:19:40 2001] skinning rock neg 4964 neg 1986 eastern wastes
[Fri Jul 20 07:35:09 2001] skinning rock neg 5404 neg 1621 eastern wastes

Those are entries in my notes.txt file. Anyhow, it's in Eastern Wastes, just as you come off the dragon bridge head straight out like going to the Ry'Gorr fort. There's a small valley-like area just before you get to the fort. Both stones were found there.

PS: I know they are random spawns... someone eluded to the fact that they commonly found them "in a valley near the fort, but didn't know the location". My point is, both of these were found there. It may be more common to find them there. Just a hypothesis since two or more people seem to be finding them in the same relative area.

I was a lvl 11 rogue when i went to velious to see what I had just bought with my expansion, i used sneak and hide all over the place, nothing sees you out in EW or out in IC, so you just get a tp to IC, then use sneak hide / sow and go to EW, there is an area with a frozen dragon on the more southern side called the sleepers tomb or something, just walk around near that and look for little rocks ont he gorund real easy to spot if you as me, in less than 10 minutes I got 2 and then I just used OOC chat and asked if anyone had an mq dire wolf fur that I could have, they were nice and I got one right off, thanked the guy and went to turn int he quest items I was only lvl 11 and yes there is no exp or faction, but all ya do is go back to engrez southpaw or whatever, the one with the last name and turn in all the 3 items same time you get a nice 7ac 5str cloak for only a few minutes time the real pain in the *** was getting a tp outta velious ) So all you newbie rogues want some adventure do velious at lvl 11 or lower even, I was in CC when I was lvl 8 and a lvl 60 shammy was killing spiders down there for thier silks and he killed and let me loot a crystal grinder for free!! Thats a 9/27 2ac for free, and then I went to LGuk and got my mod for free, its no drop mask for rogue bard only and people just let it rot, some nice guys let me loot it... then I went to thurgadin in Velious, and looking in the all the shops, I found a small wisdom diety in the store for 2pp, some body sold it to the shop, so i grabbed it and solf it for 200 back in EC, so this is my new thing, hhe Before I go lvl im just gonna adventure into lots of places that have lore or no drop stuff and ask if people will be cool and let me loot, also check all the shop ) hehe Great way for a rogue to be sneaky and show off his treasure stealing skills ) So be sneaky and go on adventures )

Using a skinning knife to degrade pelt quality only works on old world wolf/cat/bear pelts.

A skinning knife - made by smiths, allows tailors to lower the quality of pelts/skins.
If you have HQ skins, you can transform them easily into MQ or LQ, without having to go and find that exact drop.
Of course, didnt try that - still a few levels to go.
