My 53 druid got the leather drop for these in Kael today. I was psyched considering I am a probie in my new guild and shouldn't have gotten any loot today. But, looking these up, my GEBS are better. The only thing I would use this for is the additional CHA if I was charm kiting or selling. Otherwise the gebs produce more mana. And mana-free sow? big deal. It barely costs me any mana.
Get some gebs and blow this off.

Remember that items with clickable effects are usefull because you no longer need to memorize the spell in question. That frees up a spell gem for a more usefull spell.

Got these boots today. Cost me 2k for the three gems, but I got the boots during a raid in Kael. I completed the quest. Nice boots. I go outside Thurg to cast my free (40 mana) SOW, and low and behold it says, "You are not sufficient level to use this item."
I inquired with our guild merchant, and he tells me that the minimum level for these boots is level 49. So, be warned.

I know a bit about this, as the guilds I hope to join are doing these quests like crazy. You have to hunt in Kael Drakkel. Which is funny, when you think about it. You whack giants all day long so the Wyverns and Dragons of Veeshan and the Dorfs of Thurgadin will like you. But, in doing so, kiss Nature Walker's gear good bye. Atleast, that's what I beleive would happen. Anywho, raid Kael Drakkel constantly to get Dorf faction.

Here's the deal...
You need Coldain faction for the Rowyl's armor. Kill giants and Drakkel wolves in GD and Kael to bring up your faction. (Be warned, it takes a long time and a lot of giant slaying.) You can grab a port to CS and con a drake or wyvern to see how you're doing on faction. Or just pop into WL and pet Wuoshi on the nose--if she eats you, your faction isn't good enough. :P
In doing this, you'll be obliterating any giant faction you've ever had a chance at, so choose your quests carefully. If you're after the Kael armor, don't kill giants--kill Coldain in GD instead.
Many of the gems needed for the quests drop off wyverns in CS. It will be infinitely easier to kill wyverns if you have good faction with CoV (Claws of Veeshan). The wyverns will like you, and there is NO faction ding for killing them. Just avoid the drakes (faction hit) and the named wyvern (Yvolcarn) and drake (Azureake). Also, many of these gems can be found in the bazaar now that it's online as a merchant center...often at reasonable prices.

checking faction in CS or with woushi has nothing to do with coldain and getting rowyls. two different sets of armor.

Just to let you people know i have got the crushed flamed emerald for the velium cap by killing a wyvern in cobalt scars and also all other magic gems do come off the sea chest in cobalt scars you just have to be patient on the drops they are rare.

Im a low level druid (31) would I be able to do the quest if I had a good gruop also what zones do the quest items drop in?

I'd go one farther. To get a chance for these drops, you really need to hunt in the arena in KD. To do this well, you need to do a raid with multiple groups (three seems to work well) -- preferrably with the majority of the members well into their 50's.
You need a good puller here and folks that know what they are doing. Its easy to get a wipeout if you have adds in this area.

I went to icewell , and the cube and coldain skellie can be see at the entrance if you look under the ice. Ready to attack, red to me at lvl 48, i don't see how a lvl 45 can do the quest unless he got a good guild or nice uber friends =)

quite simply you dont need to do anything in icewell, the gems are tradeble, and Ive seen em in velks too off of little wussie spiders (wussies in velks are all blue to a 60th btw) the boots however arent bloody likely to get at 45 the arena giants (armor droppers for thurg quests) arent really doable with a mid 40s group, but a mid 40s character could easily shadow a higher level party and help out (read damage shields and ports) to earn a shot at dru drops.

Allakhazam's says that they are permanent, meaning that it is a self only SoW without a casting time that is effective as long as you wear them.
Has anyone tested combining the boots with a SoW or Wolf Form? Do item and spell SoWs stack?

The gems drop in Icewell keep off of frost spikes, Frosticubes, avalanche golems and coldain skels.

The armor i have been told drops in Kael off random higher lvl giants.

Drops in Kael Drakkan off of level 53 and up Giants. Anything lower than 53 won't drop any erroded leather.

Wrong, first thing, gems drop off most 45+ mobs exept for BP gems they come off of higher mobs, and erroded/corroded armors drop off 48+ giants but most likely off 52+ giants
